So the upshifts seem to have been cleared but there is still a big delay on the rev catching on downshifting.

To avoid that, simply put a small input with the accelerator pedal while you are downshifting. I'm not a specialist, but i'm remembering driving old cars like that ir.

Older cars have this way to downshift, while if you drive a modern car (road cars or some GT4 cars for example), you can downshift normally as you are used to.

Yes to SOME extent, but not this bad and delayed, especially on race cars. I've had rx7s and i have a Nissan 240, all manual and none of them did this.

If you practice with the e190 2.5 benz or the R32 nissan from group A you'll see they don't do this, now for some reason the e190 did delay in rev matching in online race, to which i have another thread with vid.

So is it a bug or a normal way shifting works in older cars? I am trying to get this information from a while :D

Older cars with H shifters had synchros that would not let you downshift into a lower gear if the engine rev was too low for that selected gear, you can use heel/toe technique as a remedy, i do it in my 240 in real life, what you see here is a bug, because the rev just lags way too long in a almost neutral state before eventually rev matching, sometimes causing shift lock on turns

There is similar thing with Ferrari F40 LM. Car is stuck on neutral state after downshift. But holding clutch a little big longer helps it.

Is there any older car in Project Cars 2 with H-Shifter gearbox which works properly to check how it should be?

Try the e190 benz or the r32 skyline in group A, in practice mode they seem to work fine for me, ill give the F40 LM a go when i get off work tonight

Yeah. R32 Skyline worked great like all cars in Project Cars 1. I tried E190 benz and it also feels like it have this Rev Lag issue. But i will try it again.

See, its sporadic, e190 is fine in free practice for me, but online it was like the Audi V8 at times
