Custom Grid Tool 2 0.991 by crowtrobot zip file

DISCLAIMER: This mod alters the unpacked game files, which will affect behavior of the vehicle filters in-game. Career Mode will not work properly with this mod running.
Please back up your Project CARS Profile before using. Mod is untested online. Author is not responsible for lost save data or broken profiles or bans.

This mod is intended to allow the user to pick their own grid for Solo Quick Race in Project CARS 2.

Installation instructions:

Unzip Custom_Grid_Tool2 to <Steam_Directory>\steamapps\common\Project CARS 2 - there should be a pCARS2_Custom_Grid shortcut in this directory, and a folder MODS with folders for the unlocker and Custom_Grid_Tool2 in it at this point.
Run JSGME tool and add Custom_Grid_Tool2.
Run the Custom Grid tool using the shortcut and add cars to grid (can double click, or group selection and use >> button. Double click from Grid list to remove.)
When grid is complete, click Assign Grid.
Start pCARS2, use Quick Race and Same Class. Make sure player car is a car from the grid assigned, and use N-1 AI opponents. (i.e. if 30 cars were assigned to the grid, use 29 AI opponents)
Enjoy. Exit pCARS2 and use Reset button to start a new grid if desired.

NOTES:

Use Save/Load to save custom grids and load, if desired.
Double-clicking a livery from the list will remove it. Or use the << button.
As stated in the disclaimer - THIS MOD CONFLICTS WITH CAREER MODE. Please close pCARS2 AND the Tool before using career.
Also as stated, MOD IS UNTESTED ONLINE. Recommend deactivating before joining a VAC server. It does not modify any memory locations while running or the .exe, so it is doubtful it would trigger a VAC ban, but no guarantees.
Car selection filters from My Garage are also effected. Use the Custom class Vehicle filter to choose car.
Tool creates .bak backup files of all altered files. If anything goes wrong, press Reset button and go to the /vehicles/ directory of all altered vehicles. Delete the altered files and restore the originals from the .bak files if this hasn't been done already by the Reset. Reset and closing the tool should restore backups and remove them.

Change Log:

v0.991 - 011318: Added exception to fix bug when changing vehicle types.
v0.99 - 102917: Changed class from CUS -> Custom. Updated to scan each directory for multiple vehicles. Updated .rcf files for road cars whose tires precede liveries.
v0.98 - 102717: updated for pCARS2

KNOWN ISSUES:

A few cars (ex: Acura NSX road version) will load a list of tire options in the livery selection instead of the correct liveries. I didn't feel like going through the whole list of cars, so if you find some, please post. I can probably code around this, but the easiest thing for the interim is to open the /MODS/Custom_Grid_Tool2/vehicles/<vehicle>/<vehicle>.rcf and <vehicle>_hr.rcf with a text editor and move the block of tire options past the Livery options.
A few cars are missing due to missing class (GTE)
A few cars are missing due to how their vehicle directory is structured (Bentley variants, Ligier).
I think it *should* work online if the host and clients all use the same .cfg file, and host chooses "Same Class", but I have not tested this at all.
The mod will probably break with each patch and require update, just be forewarned.

I cannot wait to give this a whirl. I've been hoping you could work your magic once again. Unfortunately I have a bank holiday weekend here so 3 days off work. Sounds great right? Nope, I also have a demanding gf who expects a lot of attention this weekend lol. Anyway, enough of my woes. Thanks a million, that doesn't seem to cut it, but seriously Thanks so much.

Not for the time being unfortunately. If we don't get the mods.txt support back that we had in pCARS1, it will require going back to the huge distribution and unpacking most of the game, and I just don't have the time to support that while the game is still being updated.

If people make some noise, maybe SMS will listen and let us sideload the livery files easily again, but as of right now, it doesn't appear like it's on the radar.

There are a couple experiments I can try to see if anything can be done as-is, but my expectations aren't high.

Fantastic. Now we just need SMS to allow us to get 56-60 cars, in La Sarthe at least, at least for PC players, and then we can see how a real 24 Hours of Le Mans looks like in PCARS 2.

So without this I still won't be able to put some Michelin/Pirelli....etc tyres on my custom cars?

Agreed. Bigger field was in the first game and it was one of the things that made me buy it. Who remembers doing the 24hr races in Gran Turismo with only 16 cars? How naff it was, you could go for laps without seeing another car.
I'd be prepared to lower some of my visual settings to Medium to get the extra cars back.

Has anyone been able to figure out how to get the Honda and Judd Ligier LMP2s to show in game? I figured out that it appears they are not being recognized since they are in the same folder as the Nissan LMP2 titled ligier_jsp2. I created their own folder and was able to get them to display on the Custom Grid Tool, but I am unable to get them to actually show in game. I figure I do not have the correct coding in the rcf files, but I honestly don't know what exactly I need to change in the rcf files to get them to show in game. Any help would be very much appreciated!

Thanks for pointing this out. The /Vehicles/vehiclelist.lst defines what cars get loaded from what directories, so the new folders will not be loaded unless added to that list. However, there are a bunch of relative paths within the car files that will break when the directory is changed, so simply adding the new folders to the vehicle list isn't enough either. Not entirely sure this can be done without unpacking the Ligier pakfiles, but I can probably code around it for the tool (scan for multiple .crds per folder). In the meantime, if you do what you did with the new folders, edit the files with the tool, then manually copy the _honda and _judd files back into to the original /vehicles/ligier_jsp2 directory, it should work.

Hm, this appears to be the same issue as what Tar Heel pointed out with the Ligier, there are multiple cars within the same directory. I'll look into tweaking the tool to scan each directory for multiple cars.

The game did not like the new folders and wouldn't display the cars. They simply disappeared haha. I'll try and tinker with it a little more, but I broke everything last night and like I said a lot of this stuff is out of my skill set.

The GTO Nissan 300 ZX suffers from this issue as well. I may look to see what other vehicles suffer from this and help point those out for you.

Its not working for me. Tried running WEC grid cars choosing only real liveries and none of the other P1 cars showed up and it selected random GTEs to replace the P1s.

Edit: Its picking the cars I want its just choosing from all liveries available for those cars. So fantasy liveries are showing up rather than all the liveries I want.

Yeah I can try, but basically if I pick the real Liveries from the GTE cars (Gulf Astons, Compuware Vettes, etc) it still chooses from all of the liveries available for that car regardless of which one I set or how many then assigned to the grid.

Yes I am leaving the tool running.

No, nothing wrong, just that I didn't notice the folder structure for some cars was different before releasing the first version. This was fixed a bit ago, but I didn't release and now I am overseas for work for the next few weeks and I don't have access to my computer. I think the new patch may require an update as well, so it may be a little while before the next version is released.

If SMS brings back the mods.txt hooks then I will update the Livery Tool for pCARS2. Without the mods.txt functionality from last game, the Livery Tool would go back to those cumbersome, multi-GB releases, which really aren't practical; particularly when the game is actively being patched. Hopefully that functionality comes back, I'd like to get both working in the new game.

For the record, I did not have to backup anything. I just opened the JSGME, removed the Custom Grid Tool, then added it again. The tool began to work with the new version and my grids were there.

Hi,
very cool tool but I tried to fix something with it but I couldn't find away out how. When I load up a race with the tool, all the cars that I've loaded with the tool are listed in the game's race participants but the game doesn't know which class they are in so it shows an "infinitive" (some kind of "8" leaning sideways) instead of the class name. It would be very nice if someone could help me, I've tried everything that came to my mind but nothing seems to fix it. If the cars aren't seperated in different classes it's a bit pointless to do multi class races. Thanks for every advice you could give me

This is working as intended. May I ask why it is pointless to do multiclass races? You can determine your own rankings from the final results, so I'm not really sure what other functionality is missing that would be there with a better integration with pCARS2 class selection.

That said, if there is a good reason and enough people are interested, I could imagine a way to use the tool to take advantage of pCARS2's better class selection UI.

Hi
No I didn't mean that Multi class races are useless, indeed they are my favourite race type since I'm a big fan of the 24h of Le Mans. Your tool is perfect, it would just be good if the game could recognize what class they are in. I would like to help you but I tried everything I could. Sure you can do the rating on your own but it would be cooler if the game would be able to do this on its own. In my opinion it's not a very complicated thing to solve.. Could you please tell me towards which file(s) your tool is pointing to ? Maybe we could include the file that contains the class information or we could just add a line to the file the tool is pointing to..
Greetings

It is worth noting that you can still adjust fuel levels you just won't see those changes until you leave your pit. I know that isn't a solution, but a work around is to create your setups before beginning the race weekend (in private practice for example) before you initialize the tool.

I don't think this is related to the custom grid tool. I have tried to unistall the Tool (via JSGME) enter the game, and I still can't see my fuel load. I think it is a bug from the new release.

BTW, I would like to make a comment on that.

First of all, the tool, which is free, is amazing as it is.

But, IF, and only IF crowtrobot is up to going a little deeper in the dungeons of code and data structures from PCARS2 in order to make it compatible with PCARS2 multi-class system, I would like to point out some reasons for that:

1.) If you are running in the fastest class of the grid and you want to win overall, it really does not make much of a difference which are the classes of each opponent, you just want to beat them all. But lets say you are in a GTE in a WEC-like grid, and sometimes they even get blended with some of the LMP2 in the order. Well then, sometimes, it is difficult to know where you really are in the middle of a long race, with great differences among cars, etc.

2.) If you like using mr_belowski’s Crewchief app (my second favorite mod…), and I am almost sure it is compatible with PCARS2 multiclass, then this app would work quite better. I get a bit annoyed (since PCARS 1) when I am driving my soul out in a LMP2 and the guy says “sector 1 is 2 and a half seconds off the pace" ("you bloody incompetent", I can almost rear...).

But so far, crowtrobot, thank you very much for basically saving PCARS2 from not really nice grids.

crowtrobot
07-12-2017, 16:16
Shouldn't require too much effort, it'll just be the opposite of what it does now. Rather than move the desired cars into a single, special class, it should be possible to move all of the undesired cars into a special class and then you'd pick the proper classes for a multiclass race. Obviously will need some testing, but if that works it should be pretty trivial to change.

Well sorta I guess. The creator of the tool knows why this was happening. He did reply to you earlier in the thread when he said "No, nothing wrong, just that I didn't notice the folder structure for some cars was different before releasing the first version. Finally back in the states. New version of the tool is up, sorry for the wait.

The new version now finds the 24hr versions of cars, and other cars where there are multiple vehicle types in the same vehicle folder. The few road cars which had tire definitions listed before liveries are corrected, and the name of the custom class has been changed from CUS to Custom to make it look nicer in the menus.

The new pakfiles have been used, which *I think* has fixed the fuel display bug, I quick started a practice session and could read my fuel loadout, but maybe I wasn't trying to reproduce it correctly.

Crow, can I just confirm for my simple mind, does this mean the 98 and 99 versions of the Toyota GT one are now available for selection? As before it was just the 99 car wasn't it?
Yes, precisely.

Hello....Thank u so much for this mod :) I have question for the newer version. When I go to select another series like GT or Prototype after selecting the first set the app crashes :( I completely uninstalled the the app and reloaded and I get the same thing.
The 1st version worked like a champ !

Same here, just tried the app for the first time and really enjoy it. Thanks to you, PCars2 is even more fun now! Though i get the same bug jbleeco describes.

As a workaround, start the app, select the cars of one class (GT/ Protoype/ Touring...) and add them to the list. Do not add any cars from another class now! Instead, save this as a new preset. Then exit the app, restart it, load your saved preset and add the cars from the second class you want. Repeat these steps for every class, assign and go racin'.

The custom grid tool is crashing for me when I select an alternate car category. Not like going from GT1 to GT3, rather clicking on the category window after clicking on anything in the car window crashes it regardless if a vehicle is selected or not. It's a clean install of the tool but I'll assume there's an error I'm not seeing on my end and just reinstall pc2 and retry.

Thanks for the reports and the details on the workaround, that will be helpful in debugging. I'll try to take a look this weekend when I have access to my machine again.

I'm having trouble use the mod. I downloaded the latest version, and extracted the files to the correct location. I ran the JSGME file, and added Custom_Grid_Tool2. When I open the shortcut and get the display, no cars appear. Any ideas on what I can do about this?

Wow this tool is awesome!
I love the Group C cars, but whenever I have a quick race, the game always picks too many C9 Saubers and longtail 962 Porsches with fictional liveries that it got annoying.
Now with this awesome tool, I can have a full grid with only the real liveries and appropriate cars!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q7XbxRuNVi0

I notice some mismatching errors with some of the liveries, between the VR footage and the replay footage, early on the race, where it's showing different liveries on one or two cars that I pass.

98 le mans gt1 15 cars (no f50gt) + 5 Ferrari 333sp
99 le mans lmp900 + Diablo gtr to fill out the track
Super taikyu = gt3 + gt4 + tcr
Noughties lmp900 = numbers 1-5 Audi r8 + custom paint Audi r8 team goh number 6 + 7 and 8 bentley

Plus a load more to mirror real series and periods like group 6 prototypes and a load of 935/80 porsches

I think I fixed the issue when changing between classes; I've uploaded a new version, link in first post. If there's a problem, let me know. I'm snowed in today and finally back at my computer.

crowtrobot says to back up your profile before running the custom grid tool. Does this mean to go to My Documents/Project Cars 2/savegame/your ID number/project cars 2/profiles. That profile is the one to back up, correct?

Sorry for the "rookie" question, but I just want to be sure I don't foul anything up. Thanks for any help that can be given!

My new idea for a late 90's multi-class LMP900 based grid:

x2 BMW V12 LMR
x3 Toyota GT One
x8 Radical SR8RX (LMP675 wannabe)
x15 Lambo Diablo GTR (GTS wannabe)

You could do a 00's LMP900 grid by just swapping the BMW and Toyota for a handful of Audi R8 and the 2 Bentleys......

I made sure the Ligier P2s had matching race liveries (number styling and tires are uniform). Hope you guys are enjoying the race so far like I am!!!

crowtrobot says to back up your profile before running the custom grid tool. Does this mean to go to My Documents/Project Cars 2/savegame/your ID number/project cars 2/profiles. That profile is the one to back up, correct?

Sorry for the "rookie" question, but I just want to be sure I don't foul anything up. Thanks for any help that can be given!

I have next to no experience with the Custom Grid Tool, but that is indeed the path to your profile. To be on the safe side I'd make a copy of the entire PCars 2 folder, so "My Documents/Project Cars 2".

Alright guys here is my final update (for now) to the modern IMSA grid. I found some really great custom liveries that really help diversify the GTD class. I will leave direct links to those cars. Once more cars are released or I find more custom liveries and SMS allow us to use them on more than one car (fingers crossed) I will make an update. Multiple skins per car would help out the LMP2s a lot as right now the most cars I could theoretically do with the current limit of one custom livery per car is 4 LMP2s which I think is too few. So for now the LMP2s will use fantasy logos. I also created a Zurich/SMS TC class as I thought that would be a welcomed addition to the other grids I have made. Hope you guys enjoy. Happy racing!

I guess the only issue with custom multi-class grids(as I'm sure you're all aware), is that all the cars from all classes, all seem to be bundled into one class(unless I'm doing something wrong).

Yeah that has been pointed out before. It would be nice to have them still separate so class victors could be decided.

I think the update has broken the tool

When I try to run the custom grid tool it causes the game to crash. I had to verify the integrity of my game files and had to download 15gbs of files that were lost or damaged to get the game to work again.

I'll be keeping an eye out for the updated version that will work with this update. Fingers crossed it is soon!!!

I didn't look into to custom grid tool, but I assume it's using some "unpacked bootfiles" as well - like other mods available on other websites. Usually - in PC1 times as well as with earlier patches - these bootfiles need to be updated to make the mods work again. Therefore it's best to leave them disabled for the moment.

Optimal procedure when a patch is released is:
- disable all the mods
- run the update
(- wait until there are updated versions of the bootfiles/mods)
- enable the mods again

All modders are aware of the issue that their mods are vulnerable by new patches, so they know what to do - and do so in a reasonable short time frame.

The patch will surely have broken the mod. I won't have access to my gaming PC for several weeks unfortunately, so it will be some time before an update (from me) is out. You may be able to grab the bootfiles needed from racedept somewhere and merge them in if you're feeling adventurous, no reason it shouldn't work if you get the files in the right directories.

1. Deactivate the mod
2. Place v4 bootfiles in the MODS folder and replace existing
3. Verify integrity of game files
4. Activate mod

Is this correct?

Sounds correct, yes. Sorry I didn't add the integrity check to my list, that's often a good idea. (Make sure to back-up your custom liveries before, if you are into that.)

To be clear: copy the whole folder and delete the V3 folder to be sure there isn't anything messed up inside

So, I just had a very quick try:

I had both folders "Custom_Grid_Tool2" and "Bootfiles for PC2 V4.0.0.0" inside the MODS folder. Just vanilla as I downloaded them. Then I activated Custom Grid Tool first and then the bootfiles. (Overwriting the files is fine and needed I guess)

I configured a 3 car test grid afterwards and it worked for me.

(Gotta go now, the missus is.. annoyed)

Okay so I disabled the mod, installed the bootfiles, verified file integrity, reactivated the mod, and now the custom grid tool won't open. It like opens for a split second, but yeah. Not sure what else to try. I tried completely removing the mod, reinstalling it and replacing the bootfiles again and still getting the same issue. Darn it :(

Okay progress has been made. The only issue is that for some reason the cars I select are not the specific cars that show in the grid. It has the cars I chose, but it has every livery as an option which was different from before.

EDIT: Okay I have no idea what I did, but I have the mod working correctly now. I deleted all the files in the MODS folder (excluding the python folder) and installed the V4 bootfiles and now it is working. YAY!!!

I found deleting the original folders in the MODS folder and then placing the v4 boot files in the MODS folder fixed the tool for me.

Be careful though as I believe the only folder you don't have to delete is the python folder. I might be wrong on the name so check what folder is originally in the MODS folder and what is not in the v4 boot files.

You're missing the python folder I believe as that is not in the v4 boot files. Grab that single folder from the MODS folder if you still have the zip file of the custom grid tool download.

If not download that zip file and just drag over that particular folder to your MODS folder in your game file. Also the mod should be deactivated while you're doing all this and reactivated once you're done.

So I make it to here and can't figure out how to add cars. Car classes are on the left and that is all. Double click doesn't do anything. The >> button close the window. Can anyone tell me what Im screwing up. Im normally not baffled by stuff but Im doing something wrong here.

Try turning it off and back on again is the JSMG or whatever it is called client.

Can't get it to work with the Porsche pack. And your WEC grid "with the 911 RSR" doesn't contain the RSR....I'm not sure I follow. I agree about the IMSA liveries.

Guys, did you manage to get the tool to work with the new Porsche pack? I tried yesterday but it didn't work, I reinstalled it but then the new Porsche cars didn't show up anymore in the game. I finally uninstalled the tool and I had to check integrity with Steam to get the Porsche back.
Is there any way to make the tool working meanwhile Crowrobot updates it?

I really can't enjoy this game without it, yesterday I created a race with the RSR 73' and guess what, the AI grid featured only one other 911, 11 Mercedes (!) and 8 Jaguar, but no other models from the class. What a joke :D

Nope tried several times yesterday. Deactivated the mod, put the new boot files in, activated the mod. The mod shows in game it just doesn't select the liveries I choose. I think I'll do a fresh install of the mod today with the boot files.

The boot files are not just for car mods. It allows the custom grid tool ti work.

I've installed the v4.0.0.3 boot files in the MODS folder and it gets the custom grid tool to work, I can see the Porsche cars, but the tool does not select the specific liveries I tell it too which defeats the purpose of the MOD for me.

Hopefully crowtrobot releases a new version soon

The mod was disabled and I verified the game files twice.

I copied the files you supplied and overwrote the ones in the current mod directories.

Actually, the issue wasn't with the Nissan GTR GT3 (my bad) it was with the new Porsche GT3 from the DLC that wouldn't show up.
I created a custom Grid with the Nissan GT3, Lambo GT3, and the new Porsche GT3 cars. The Porsche GT3 didn't show on track. Just the Nissan and Lambos.

Okay, still strange. But we'll figure that out

I don't want to be nitpicking but are you talking about the Porsche GT3 cars (GT3R and GT3R Endurance, which are in the game since the beginning) or - my guess - the RSR, which came with the Porsche Pack and is GTE class?

The problem of missing DLC cars comes from the vehiclelist.lst file. I simply added the nine Porsche DLC cars into the list and the tool works as intended.

So, to sum it up : Reiche's files + edited vehiclelist.lst = functional Custom Grid Tool

Download CGT fix Porsche DLC (http://www.mediafire.com/file/uef60116s9a09zt/Grid_Tool_Fix_Porsche_DLC.zip)

Updated the first post to include Reiche and vassalfada's fix. Still been super busy away from my gaming PC, so been very hard to find time to get this updated.

@vassalfada:
The problem with modifying the .rcfs with extra liveries is that the .rcfs appear again in the individual car pak files, so you need to have each car unpacked to be able to manipulate the actual liveries. Part of what makes the Grid Tool work is manipulating the number of liveries, which I think is only loaded once when vehiclespersistent is loaded at startup.

OR as Tar Heel mentioned, the mods.txt implementation back, so unpacking the external files isn't needed.

Have you tried turning the mod off in the JSGME.exe, putting the new files in, and then turning it back on?

So install boot files before Custom Grid Tool and Porsche Patch fix?

Yes I have tried installing and reinstalling in different orders. The Custom Class from the Grid Tool no longer shows up in game.

Should be able to and paste them in the same file type the custom grid tool produces when you save a grid.

Has anyone managed to get the custom grids to work with modded (added in) cars? I can get it to work with the new cars, however, it seems to drop out one of the ferrari challenge cars. My current load order is - Grid Tool Fix for Porsche DLC, Custom Grid Tool, ADDED CAR (Rx7), latest boot files. I'd say it'd be something to do with my load order. Any advice would be appreciated, as I'm very excited about the modded cars that have being made by some talented folk

Okay, so I figured it out. - Grid tool fix for Porsche DLC, Mod Cars, Custom Grid Tool (rename the Vehicles folder to Vehicles1 (or whatever), bootfiles. Seems to work fine. Did a custom race with the rx7 and there ferraris were still present. Love the rx7 by the way.

Alas new patch seems to break things again - removed the mods then put them back - in Race select menu it shows the white icon indicating all so good so far but once you load the race PC2 crashes.

Do we need new boot files again or more to fix ?

Reiche

Usually just a few new files

I can provide them after the DLC content has launched, so you'll have to live without the custom grid tool for (hopefully only) a few hours ;)

Tomorrow with the new cars and rcf files coming the mod will probably break. The new boot files and livery files should fix all issues though.

Is the tool now able to make the difference between car classes or is it still throwing everything in one single class ?

Cheers

As is right now, it still throws them into one Custom class.

On the other hand, I did not expect the tool to recognize the new cars instantly without an update :D

I can't see the Ferrari 512 S or Ferrari 512 M in the list of vehicles, custom grid tool was installed today with the patch from post #196 too (http://forum.projectcarsgame.com/showthread.php?56467-Custom-Grid-Tool-2-Custom-Grids-for-Solo-Quick-Race&p=1493195&viewfull=1#post1493195).

Edit: In the corner of custom grid tool it says "Files missing for: test_car"

Tar Heel

Alright, so there's nothing to fix?:)

It recognizes the cars with the new V6 boot files, but the custom grid does not work in game.

Edit: the new DLC cars are not getting recognized by the game when running the custom grid tool. Some files are missing from the new DLC in the bootfiles which is causing the custom grid tool to not only not work, but also break the game if you deactivate the mod (causing s integrity check of the files). Once those files are added to the bootfiles everything should work again.

The interface of the tools is working fine because the rcf files are present, but the object files of each DLC car are missing along with the classic le man layout.

What about simply add the new cars in the vehiclelist.lst file, as we did before? I'll try later today ;)

Nevermind, the new boot files have them in vehiclelist.lst, so something else is missing :(

The crd files are present in the bootfiles so I'm not sure if that is it. Unless those still need to be added to the vehiclelist.lst still?

Custom Grid Tool fix for Patch 6 / Spirit Of Le Mans DLC

http://www.mediafire.com/file/7s6sb1sb5zest93/CGT_fix_P6.zip

Tested by Tar Heel, should work. If you get any errors, please report!

How to: Unzip and put it into MODS, first activate Custom Grid Tool, then activate the fix.

Fix for Acura NSX road car and Aston Martin DB11:
De-activate CGT_fix_P6, paste the content inside of "fix" (e.g. the folder "vehicles") into "MODS/CGT_fix_P6" and activate CGT_fix_P6 again.
http://www.mediafire.com/file/im3f32p0xc8iim2/fix.zip

In case you're running into any errors, please do the following first:
Make sure you de-activated all MODS, run Steam files integrity check, activate again and test again.

Sidenote:
I deleted the original files inside MODS/Custom_Grid_Tool2 except for "Pakfiles" and "python" folders and pasted "cameras", "characters", etc. folders of my fix files into there. Did work as well and I got only one mod to activate.

http://forum.projectcarsgame.com/showthread.php?46373-Custom-Career-Tool-Custom-Career-Championships

To be honest, I never ever had a look at that tool and how it works. I will have a look at it on the coming days and will report back.

The reasons why the tool hasn't been adapted for PC2 can be various.
- something in the way the game operates could have been changed and thus there's no chance to get it working again; or
- the need for unpacked files could have stopped crow from adapting the tool as long as the game is in development (which means every new patch will require newly unpacked files - depending on the files needed this can easily take several hours, even when you know what you're doing and when you're fast); or
- the basic principle of the tool will still work for PC2, but adjustments to the codebase of the tool are required (probably knowledge of Python required)

Likely it's a mixture of the 2nd and the 3rd option. 2nd can be done "easily" even if you're not crowtrobot, it's just a matter of time. But I'm pretty sure 3rd option is true as well, so we would need adjustment to the code. This requires a advanced understanding in how the tool operates and you'll have to know where you have to change what parts of code -> if you're not crowtrobot, you will have to do quite some research (let's not forget the Python required).

As crowtrobot is not available right now for RL reasons, it is very unlikely we will see the tool for PC2 soon.

[Same reasons why there is no custom liveries tool for PC2 yet. Unpacked files can be provided, that's no big deal (apart from the time this takes). Hell, I even have a detailed understanding of what the tool for PC1 did and I can reproduce the steps it does by hand. Unfortunately, adjustments to the codebase have to be made. I had a look at it but with no idea is Python I was literally lost. Some people who know Python did also have a look at the tool, but those were not familiar with the tool at all and thus didn't succeed in adjusting the tool yet. And that's where we are stuck now. And I just assume the story with the career tool wouldn't be much different.]

(To give you some numbers: grid tool requires two unpacked files. custom livery tool requires about ~230 unpacked domes right now - the new patch made it necessary to unpack approx. 35 (probably less) files anew - unpacking alone did take almost 3 hours plus it took another two hours to prepare the files for upload.
No idea how many files will be required for career, but career mode is quite extensive in this game...

Could you maybe list the packages we need to have enabled in the mod manager?

2. Patch 6 boot files
3. Porsche DLC fix >>> apparently no longer needed?
4. Le Mans DLC fix

For custom grid functionality you need:

1. Custom Grid Tool
2. Le Mans DLC fix

It's not depending on other unpacked bootfiles.

Alright, I noticed a few minor issues.

- ford_mustang_rtr_fd (Road) appearing twice in "Car" list
- ford_mustang_66_rtr missing in "Car" list
- acura_nsx_2017 showing tire options in "Livery" list --- see fix below
- aston_martin_db11 showing tire options in "Livery" list --- see fix below

I'll have a look at what is causing this. For acura and aston issues I'm very optimistic, ford issues less.

If you can confirm any of these issues or if you notice not having one of the issues (or if you notice any other issue), drop a note here or send me a PM.

Fix for Acura NSX road car and Aston Martin DB11:
De-activate CGT_fix_P6, paste the content inside of "fix" (e.g. the folder "vehicles") into "MODS/CGT_fix_P6" and activate CGT_fix_P6 again.

Hey everyone! So I think our classic (1970s content) is full of enough cars/liveries that I wanted to put together a classic 1970s era FIA World Championship schedule.

I have done a little research and tried to create some classic grids from the 1970s FIA championships using some modern and classic tracks that saw action during the 1970 and 1971 FIA World Championship seasons. I'll list the tracks and the races they correlate with, Silverstone and Indianapolis were never apart of the 1970 or 71 season, but I thought I would make a grid for Silverstone to substitute Targa Florio, and use Indy as a substitute for say Sebring.

I hope you guys enjoy these car track combos!

Tracks, Race Lengths, and dates

24hrs of Daytona- January 31st, 1971
12hrs of Indy (substitute for Sebring, use Indy road course)- March 20th, 1971
1000km of Brands Hatch (257 laps)- April 4th, 1971
1000km of Monza (use Monza Classic GP 159 laps)- April 25th, 1971
1000km of Spa (use Spa Historic 71 laps)- May 9th, 1971
1000km of Silverstone (use Silverstone Classic 213 laps)- May 16th, 1971
1000km of Nurburgring (use Nurburgring Combined 39 laps)- May 30th, 1971
24hrs of Le Mans- June 13th, 1971
Austrian 1000km (use Österreichring/Red Bull Ring GP 120 laps)- June 27th, 1971
6hrs of Watkins Glen (use Watkins Glen short)- July 24th, 1971

Now here are the grids. I tried to keep them as consistent as possible while adding/subtracting in order to comply with grid constraints. Hope you enjoy them!

I just made an edit that hopefully brought more continuity to the grids. There are 18 cars that are on every track (trying to create at least somewhat of a championship season feel to these grids) with the only exception being Nurburgring in which I swapped out a 3 cars for 908s. The teams on those cars are the same, but the numbering is off on the J.W. teams.

Alright, I noticed a few minor issues.

- ford_mustang_rtr_fd (Road) appearing twice in "Car" list
- ford_mustang_66_rtr missing in "Car" list

I had a second look at the tool and the files, but absolutely no I idea what might be causing this. I'm sorry, guys. Gonna have to wait for crow on this one.

"I downloaded the latest version, and extracted the files to the correct location. I ran the JSGME file, and added Custom_Grid_Tool2 and the fix file for the LeMans pak.. When I open the shortcut and get the display, no cars appear. I used the tool without problem in
Pcars 1.

I must be missing something basic. I removed and reinstalled the tool but I can't get the cars to appear.

I think I found the problem but don't know how to mix it.
when I start the tool, in the lower right corner it says it is missing a vehicle file vw polo rx

I verified files but no luck

Shouldn't be the issue. Can you attach screenshots of your PC2 install directory and your MODS folder please?
