View Full Version : Do we have a drifting community here?

I was wondering do we have any sort of community here for drifting? :D

As we well know, this drifting-thing isn't actually a concept for project cars 2 (yet?) but I was just wondering...

Do you guys tune your ingame cars for drifting and so on things? I cannot copy&paste any sort of my own video-links from youtube, because this is my very first post on here ever, in this forum :D

This my on-going forum-account isn't really a brand new anymore... I should raise my online attention more now on :D

Thanks, I have no more questions / wonderings

His Youtube Videos:

He drifts everything :P

I like drifting but it's tough to find others to tandem with and the kart tracks can't be done with cars in mp. I haven't been able to make public content recently so here's an old video:

Nice guys!
Hobbnob is the one I have seen in youtube and I've been searching who was that bad ass drifter... So here you are All de masters! :D

Good. I almost thought there was nobody under drifting interest in PC2... ALMOST.
I'm in the right place now :D :)

Would love to know any advice you can give on setting these up. I saw your radbull and I am diabolical in initiating the drifts on the right point on the track. Any advice on how the lines are different would be appreciate. Thank you.

With PC2 Radbull it's pretty good to start (load first SMS's own Drift setup) with setting tyres NITTO hard or medium and then put all the engine power low as possible. Then raise the power where its suitable for you.

Other main thing might be steering ratio to set 6.5:1 and caster angles (from Front) to 2.0. Don't forget set spool ON.

If anyone is interested in a Lobby and a bit of a play around yell out,

This is one of a couple i made the other day in VR in the RADBUL MX5, Love this car !

Yesterday I loaded up the snowy Nordschleife with the Lamborghini Huracan (and afterwards the Veneno, as both have 4-wheel drive, if I'm correct), equipped the hard summer tires and set ABS, TC and stability control all to OFF.

It was quite fun, and after I had been hitting every barrier in my first tries it somehow even felt like I was able to learn a bit of the basics for drifting in "more normal" conditions, as well.

I messaged that person about their setup, they pointed me to a facebook group for pcars2 drifting that includes the tune:

Apart from the tire smoke bug/glitch happening in the replay ( makes it look like he is producing allot more wheel slip/smoke than it really is ) Looks like a nice setup.

Cheers for the tips in here.
It's taken me a while to get the hang of the cars anyway, especially as it was largely down to dialing my wheel in (still adjusting!).
I think having the button box be helpful to tune the ffb too.

Project Cars 2 will not have big drifting community unless certain aspects of the sim are improved (including physics, car setups, steering feel and some more). I am more than happy to provide feedback if the developers would like to have more drifters in the community.

And please don't get me wrong, I already enjoy project cars 2 a lot but I believe that it has tons of hidden potential in the drifting area.

I am with this topic but with the specific physics is now above my knowledge. I can understand somehow it should go as a real thing (the cars are very much better than in any other sims) but the specific things as what "this" and "this" car should feel.
I only have a bike to cycle to work but I also have Lexus IS200 to drive sometimes in real life :D

Personally I'm strongly happy with every car the game offers to you. It's a interesting experiment to get know something you have no chance to get known in real life.
And as for a FormulaDrift community, we have a very small group of drivers in here (found first by Christian Clark): https://www.facebook.com/groups/119371372083869/?ref=bookmarks

Randomly we just pop up a server up and go for a fun practise for now. About future plans? = we have none.

So anyone who is interested in, can join to the Facebook channel ( link above the text :D )

Just got a Vive from a friend of mine over the holiday break, and hauling the mustang sideways in VR is an amazing experience. I'm still getting used to it and my time to race is limited, but once I can hold a solid drift around sakitto sprint with it I'll post a video. I'm in the facebook group also but haven't posted much.

I'm getting the VR equipment too. I'm only wondering what's going to happen when stuff gets delivered :D

I mean, they are not Oculus or Vive at all. They are 3Glasses Blubur S1. Production and design in technology by The Chinese's industry :D So there can be anything between hardware fitting in and physical condition if it gets broken :D
I'm even keeping warning to myself to breath on them gently to not bump the lenses out of the joint :D

Otherwise I hope they are very great experience to have Virtual Reality :)

Aww shucks :P

It came out well, I still have some tinkering to do with the cars before release (mainly gearbox related) but I will announce the release here when the v2 video comes out from COTA.

This will also accompany a minor core physics mod to add some driveline components that I needed, to allow power balance modification alongside the default spool (it can actually be converted to fully RWD, fully FWD, and everything in between) and added a basic driveline shunt system which will most likely be used by any future race spec high power cars that I happen to make. Sounds fancier than it is, but it's just a little text file that you'll need to add in.

For anyone interested, here's the video in question:

Not sure I noticed any difference with baseline drifting setup (which I like best), but my impression was that RTR Competition setup was a lot more understeery and required lots of handbrake.

Vaughn Gittin Jr's Mustang that comes with Fun Pack DLC is by far the easiest car to drift in PCARS2 out of the box, using its drift (default) setup. Mazda and Toyota'86 RocketBunny are twitchier and require more setting up.

Especially Toyota is tricky as it is lazy until the turbo kicks in very late, whereas Mustang has lots of power through its whole rpm range, and it does not matter much whether you are running 1st, 2nd or 3rd gear; you just stomp on the gas pedal and off you go. :)

And of the ordinary road cars Track Day group Nissan Skyline GT-R is very nice to drift too.

Took awhile until I got time to test the drift mod (Porsche DLC taking all my time). You've done a great job with cars and the mod sits seamlessly into the game. :)

Installation is bit tricky though. Does the mod affect forthcoming PCARS2 updates and DLC because of vehiclelist.lst and drivetrain.rg edits?

Alex Hobbs
11-03-2018, 23:47
updates will break the mod, you'll need to redownload bootfiles and reactivate the mod and redo edits once new bootfiles become available.

Finished the batch file I was making. Sent it to you in the message to your email address used for donations. At least it is able to find all required paths, copy setups and edit files, but its up to you which parts (if any) you may want to use for automation. :)

Got the batch in state that it checks files against originals and does not do anything if (unique) lines can be already found on target files. Also backs up originals with timestamps, so adding more changes should be possible without logic messing up with earlier backup files. I'll do some testing with it and throw it your way tomorrow.

Thanks. Sent it to you late yesterday. Took a while to fight with a prototype of the full installation batch which was included as an example...

The new plain Edits.bat is safe to be used multiple times even if the edits are already there. Should there be any matches between edits and current file, it will skip that file and inform user about it.
