View Full Version : Custom Liveries in the future?

I recently created a few custom liveries and put them into the game files, only to be disappointed soon after finding out that no one else is able to view them besides me. According to my friends, they can only see the car as white.
I did some research and apparently this was always the case.

I would like to know if this kind of support for custom liveries will ever be implemented into the game? Specifically, will the game ever be able to let players see each others' own custom liveries?

I hope not.

PC2, like most other games that have custom skins, would require everyone to have the same livery installed on their PC in order to see it.

I really miss this feature in PC2. Live for Speed handled custom liveries SO well, and that was made years ago.
A few extra seconds at the start of each online session to download the other liveries wouldn't concern most people.

You could have a couple of extra options to make everyone happy such as:
- Do/Don't download others liveries
- Download 512 / 1024 / 2048 version
- Delete/Keep downloaded liveries after exiting

I guess allowing people to use custom liveries that everyone can see will always lead to abuse. Not nice to see liveries with insults, nazi symbols or pornographic content.

You would need someone to moderate the liveries, like some sort of approval to go online with it.

So if I want to make an A. Hitler career with a Nazi flag Ginetta, I still can.

Th...That's what we all do, right ?

In other titles where custom liveries were possible there was quite a bit of disgusting content also shared for people to download.

My only experience with this is Forza, and they are doing it pretty well. It's mostly race-liveries replica, though.

~6:04:40 "...We were going to introduce a proper livery painting system, but I think it's now Project CARS 3. That's going to be Project CARS 3. We are literally out of memory..."

Knock it off... Without consoles, there wouldn't be a PC2.

Live For Speed did such a good job with this, I spent hours making new skin for that game, sadly there will always be people out there that will abuse the feature and keep us from having it

How is that trolling? I expressed my opinion. Stop telling people to stop trolling when they are not. People are allowed to disagree with you. Don't be so hurt that you have to tell someone that they are trolling when they disagree with you.

I think its a bad idea. I have seen what custom liveries have done to other multiplayer racing games and the ridiculous and immature and most unrealistic liveries that users make in the game are not worth the few nice custom liveries that are made by users.

And with "eSport in mind from day one" as Andy Tudor mentioned so often, custom liveries would have been a good tool to make the game more interesting to pro teams, when they can race in their own liveries and represent their sponsors that way.

So because a few 13 year olds put a boob on their car, that's enough to ban it for the rest of us?

exactly... i know a few pro team drivers, and they all refuse to do anything else than mainly iracing or some assetto corsa because they can not race their team liveries with pc2. With that "eSport" thing, that SMS told us ( in my oppinion this is far far far away from eSports what pc2 is offering) this would be an absolute requirement.

I love PC2, but there are to much issues to make this game a "real" eSport candidate... This ESL arcade shit is just a joke.

E-sports teams are getting their liveries with the next car pack according to some gaming blogs, so painters can send their designs to SMS and they can include them in the game. We have some awesome liveries already, RL liveries you see in the Blancpain GT series like the #55 Kaspersky 488 GT3 or the WRT Audi and countless other modern liveries but also from past iconic cars, so there really is no need for an editor.

I'd prefer SMS saving the energy, resources and also memory for more important things. I'm convinced as a developer they always have to sacrifice something when introducing new things. I can't see the necessity of a livery editor.
