Is it better to start a Race with Hard Tires? Then later in the Race switch to softs?

depends on the track temperature, and forecasted weather

tire choice is based on track/ambient temps.

Always hard, the softs are useless.

Hards are useless when track temp is 25c or below

Not in my experience, Hard have always performed better regardless of the temp unless its more like 0c or below. If Softs are better at 25c you're not driving fast enough.

At 90-110c, what PSI is a good start off pressure entering the track.

Soft tires > hard tires when tire temp is below ~70c. This is usually at fast tracks like monza, Spa, Le Mans, Daytona @ <30c track temp.

I’m not that fast, but you can’t be driving fast enough to keep hard tires hot at 10c winter Spa.
Or maybe you are, but you’re sacrificing a lot of time doing so.

More detail please.
Could be 21-22 psi cold dependant on car, track type, conditions and brake setup.

I'm racing at Daytona road course. It's a 2 hour race.
Start off with 21 psi in all tires?

You’re asking the wrong question.

You’re asking the wrong question.

What exactly you need to answer the question?

What exactly you need to answer the question?

For GT3 at Daytona you could do 21-24 psi.depends on track temp and your brake setup. Higher at front by 1-2 psi depends what you’re driving.

You want a hot pressure of 26psi, so adjust cold pressure and brake ducts to reach that.

In other words, try with 21, see what it ends up after driving a few laps in given conditions. If it gets much higher than 26 hot, reduce and retry, do the opposite if it get much lower than 26.
