View Full Version : Tyre Wear - Post Patch

What has happened to the tyre wear post patch? It's not anywhere near what it used to be.

Specifically regarding the Formula Renault. I had it set to accelerated, and in most of the 20 lap career races, I had to be pretty careful with my tyres, or run the risk of them running down completely.

I've been running the Renault in lobbies all weekend, doing 16,17 lap stints, one stint was about 26 laps, and they've barely got half way to where the used to.

Why such a massive change?

No answer on this then, anybody?

Are you on XB1 or XB1-X?

XB1

The S though, not the original. If that makes nay difference?

What do you mean?

This isn't a max grid issue, there's only 16 cars in the FR35 career races.

Tyre wear is now half of what it was beforehand, which one is right? Was it wearing too much beforehand? Or, is it now not wearing enough.

If it was authentic, the Formula Renault could probably do nearly 60 laps around Monza, on one set of tyres. Is that right? And that's me going round there, I do not treat my tyres well at all.

This issue can happen with 16 cars (as noted in the thread that sometimes people have seen it anywhere above 12-13 cars). One way to validate it is to run a Quick Race with 0 AI (i.e. just hot lapping) then run another Quick Race adding 16 AI and see if the wear is the same.

It's all linked !

Once you add cars to a tracks, it adds up until the game shuts down or dumb down systems do keep going.
Here you have a choice, like a gremlin, you can choose not to feed it after midnight (aka less than 12 or 16 cars, depends on car and track), but once you feed it, better stuff it until it drops dead of indigestion. (see my comment here http://forum.projectcarsgame.com/showthread.php?61166-Released-How-long-for-patch-4&p=1481414&viewfull=1#post1481414 and Gav88888's http://forum.projectcarsgame.com/showthread.php?61166-Released-How-long-for-patch-4&p=1481642&viewfull=1#post1481642)
But running 32 cars only fixes the steering instability or soapiness, nothing else.

I just ran solo at le Mans 15 minutes ago, same setup, same season, it took 4 laps to get the same tire wear I had with 32 cars in 23 laps (or 1h20m). So obviously once the game gets overwhelmed, some aspects of the sim go down in some unknown order, tire wear and heating seem to go down among the first.

Running accelerated tire wear could compensate that, a factor of 7 should mean close to solo wear.

Are you saying here, that your tyre wear was higher with the 32 car field?

It's not super clear :)

I read it as tire wear slows down as you increase the number of AI opponents.

That's what I was thinking. But that's the opposite of my scenario.

Once you are in limbo, tire physics work in mysterious ways !
