View Full Version : Car and Track names in API

I'm tinkering with something that will need to identify the cars and tracks that are raced on, however I'm seeing inconsistencies on the naming. As you can see in my 3 examples below it's fairly consistent for the most part, but there are some inconsistencies. I potentially want to be able to reference times found on the official web leaderboards, but the names differ. It would be nice if the API could report an ID number instead of a name, but since it can't, has anyone else dealt with this other than starting a race with every single car and track to see what the API returns, store them in a lookup table in your program, and hope the names don't change in future updates?

For Crew Chief I just have to include all the car and track names in the app. They do change - lots of the track names were changed in the last update to replace spaces with underscores in some cases. I've not re-checked the car names, I expect they've changed in some places too. It's all a bit silly to be honest

Those ones are pretty painful to collect, there could be some sort of dictionary, same as with nationalities.
