while testing tracks for my upcoming vintage day event, i spent some time on the bannochbrae circuit and i have to say it's a fantastic track!

elevation changes, great scenery and challenging corners really make it enjoyable to drive, especially in a vintage context.

i highly recommend checking it out.

i have the current world record in the lotus 72d but i only spent about 1/2 hour on it.

Agree. I also love this street circuit both for hotlapping or a AI race. E.g. set two weather slots (storm and sun), 8AM, time progression 60x and select e.g. Aston Martin DBR1 togother with a bunch of other cars. Lovely sightseeing while racing.

Ok I will try the 72D as well ;)

'Real weather' should have that covered right now :D

If, we could have this track with a reverse layout in Project CARS. This one would be worth it!

Well done fantasy tracks are every bit as much fun for me. Bannochbrae is one of the best.

I can smell a BBQ when i go through the village.

Have you tried it in the Oreca 03 Nissan?

You are saying your Oreca 03 Nissan is the cause of the BBQ smell? ;)

You can hear sheep too.

Interestingly, you can hear the animals in private test, but they only come out of their coverage during race sessions :D I love it in the Aston Martin DBR300/1 by the way!

Bannochbrae is superb and a riot to race on. Often overlooked because "it's not a real circuit" but those people are missing out.

and I do love me a time-trial challenge ;)

250961

250962

Both set on 100% default 'loose' setups. There's quite a few tenths available to come out of the Oreca time, not least because I ran the Lotus first and, oh boy, the Oreca is 'interesting' to drive right after that!

(first clean lap in the lotus was good enough for P1 but was still a poor lap, so I ran another)

I quite agree Mr Cluck.

I have chased you many times, you chasing me is definitely a first! I couldn't get anywhere near your time in the Audi 90 quattro IMSA GTO.

Best. Track. Ever.

One day, I may get above the top 1,000 in time trials, but not today.

This is my all time favorite track. Last time I checked i was way over 2000 miles on it with PC2. That was a while ago so I'm sure it's even higher now. I don't know why this track sees no love in online lobbies. I have done a few and usually only get a few drivers.

That chicane is easier to gauge with open wheels excepting the Bronco Brocky. All others I have to feel the extents of the cars on the first lap or two to get a good idea.

It's pretty much a straight line right through the middle, flat out.

Start in the middle of the approach, little twitch to the right to get on the diagonal, once you're through, same little twitch to the left to avoid the curb on the right.

Stay flat out all the way, for the next soft left. You only need to brake for the 90 left that comes next.

I recommend practicing in a single seater.

@Cluck, +0.214 on default ... oh my word!!

@Cluck, +0.214 on default ... oh my word!!Nope, just did a 1m57.8. There's another 0.5s to come off that time with an absolutely nailed-on, balls-to-wall lap on default setup :).

Much respect to Cluck, that's 2x purple sectors - and i'm 0.004 behind. Sad face.

Still another 2 or 3 tenths to come out of that from me so we should see a high 1m56 on default, from a truly perfect lap :)

So managed a 2:10 and was tuning the 72D. Realised you'd all been going defaults so done so and took a second off my time first lap lol. That'll teach me to tweak a car before getting used to it!!

More in it Cluck - back later to try and get you :D

Aye gotta love the Brae - with others that can drive it it's epic. Unfortunately not a track for a public lobby lol.

OK, I call this a draw.
Not bad after just about 20 minutes of trial and errors.
I managed an unofficial 2:17.476 in free practice with the same TT conditions, but that was... unofficial.

I also gave it a try with the Lotus 72D. I drove/raced around Bannochbrae with a number of cars but this one is completely different and opposite to what I memorized for this track. 2:10....and hopefully more to come? I used Cluck and Speeddmon ghosts as a guideline. After turn 3 they're gone with the wind. haha. Just loving also this combo.

For the classic cars lovers. Give that Aston Martin DBR1 also some tracktime. And I'm going to prepare the Lotus 49(c) in my garage. See you on virtual track :)

BB is a great track its one to master if you want to learn the car. i think if you can drive any car round bb fast your good to go on any track...

this bb started off between a few mates now its getting very competitive.

I also agree this is a fantastic track, amazing flow, even better scenery. This alongside Laguna Seca are my all time fav tracks in the Project Cars series.

It would be great if SMS could build & release some more fantasy tracks. With all the technology at their finger tips, they could create some amazing race tracks.

And in replay (at least in VR) when you fly over the lake and see the birds, well you can hear them. David Attenborough can be proud with all these animals

I broke my display at Bannochbrae...

I was spurred on to join in with the lotus 72 beat my time fun. I got some good times, still 5s behind Cluck and the others but I kept missing gears. I decided to move the position of the gear lever on my very home made rig, screwdriver slipped, screen fell, now one quarter is a black void with flickering stripes of colour.

I had actually decided not to buy a bigger 4k screen now I am going to have to, lucky I have the cash. ;-)

My partner only slightly lost it with me.

About the track, yes it is awesome and one I have not raced on much. I think it may be less popular as every corner appears designed to kill you! That adverse camber after the bridge is one of the most challenging in the game.

I remember getting a new 27" monitor when the cat jumped up and knocked over my 24" one. Laid it on thick and managed to blag a better one out of the household coffers. I'd not had that monitor long, I'd been using a 24" CRT monitor for years before that, and the cat was always sleeping on top of it because it was warm. It got a shock when it tried to lay on top of an LCD monitor though.

This track is in my top 3 favorite since day 1 of Pcars. But now with Pcars 2, I love even more this track in winter time at noon or 1pm. Check it out, the scenery is just mouth dropping...
