I have to ask. Back in the PC1 days (link (https://www.indycar.com/News/2016/02/02-17-Project-CARS)), SMS had close ties with Indycar. Did that not get carried over to PC2? I am asking because...

I want that car. What do we need to do to make PC2 the official game of Indycar?

I think we can hope they sort out ALL the physics this time, or else this:

It is the official game of Indycar. The ties are a lot closer than in PC1 when we only had a Dallara Road chassis and 2 liveries-now we have all the 2016 cars and liveries and drivers as well as the official licence.iRacing just has added the car before us.Just because we have the Official License doesn't mean other sims can't use Indycar and Pirelli World Challenge content.

As far as I can see, SMS has the full licence for 2016 Indycar. That doesn't mean anything outside of the 2016 season - if they want the 2018 car, I would assume that a new licence will have to be negotiated and agreed (which it looks like iRacing have done). Either SMS originally did a multi season deal, which I personally doubt, they have done a new deal for this year's cars/teams/liveries, or we're not getting the '18 car.

Which is a long winded way of saying - I don't think we'll be getting the '18 Indycar in pCARS 2.

Just because you have a car, doesn't exactly mean you have a series license. We have several cars in PCars 2 that is like this.

Licensing is weird, separately you need to acquire license for : League (driver/team names), Car(s), Tracks

Kind of a mess so easily all the games can have various parts. pC2 was the official game so they got the cars and 2016 drivers/teams meaning liveries. But of course no all the tracks. The most "complete" game I have seen is NASCAR HEAT 2 which i think includes every car/track/driver/team

I actually play NASCAR heat 2 in my spare time. Very fun game imho. I hope SMS bring out a full fledge Indycar game rather than DLC cars/drivers/team for PC2. The 2018 Indycar is a sweet looking machine. The series deserves its own game.

I'm not spending another 45 on an Insycar only game-because I would buy it if SMS made one. However,I'd rather that the hundreds of man hours that would be spent on such a game are put into PC3 instead, helping with the Indycar side but also the Prototypes, the GT,the Single-Seaters,the Touring Cars, the Rallycross, the Historics,so everyone can gain from the development.
