Since last update the ability for the host to kick bad drivers from the lobby seems to have stopped working. Was this deliberate or is it a new bug?

Deliberate.

Join the long line of almost everyone complaining about this misstep...

The more worrying issue is, how does anyone at SMS justify doing this? Supposedly as a way to prevent abusive hosts kicking drivers for no reason (other than to artificially inflate their rating or kick people needing the full 2 min pre-race break), it can't really have been a problem they have ever faced. Because, if they had ever spent much time in random online public lobbies, they would already know that the damage caused by doing it would be far worse than the damage done by not doing it. And if (as seems all too apparent) they really never go to public rooms and root around in the swill like we have to, and restrict themselves to only tightly hosted private rooms, they wouldn't have faced the issue at all!

How, exactly, did this EVER seem like a good idea?

Yeah, I've just read others complaining about this. It is a ridiculous solution to a minimal problem. They've penalised the majority for the sake of the minority.
