The tool closes itself whenever I try to load my folder containing Mustang GT4 liveries... anyone else having this issue or is it coming from my end?
Indeed, one of my file had " - copy" at the end of its name. My bad.
Other strange thing I noticed though, despite putting new Fresnel and Spec files with my R18 TDI liveries, the "official" fresnel file still appears on the cars in-game, adding up with the fresnel file associated to the new liveries. Any idea what might be causing this? (I have my own idea ; which is that the fresnel file for the R18 is somehow not called "AUDI_R18_LIVERY_FRESNEL.dds")
And another observation : in career mode, it seems like for some cars the liveries belonging to a same team are not chosen by normal order (i.e. you have two Bilstein Audi R8, "Bilstein #4" and "Bilstein #5" (thus in the menu they appear one right after the other), yet in career Bilstein #4 will be paired with, say, "Martini Racing #21")
Your idea is probably correct. You'll notice one livery is 'baked' onto the model as well and swapped directly, it's not a generic paint that is swapped out like most other cars. If you figure out what the actual fresnel is I'd be happy to include it in future versions, but noodling around with the cars, that by default, are non-customizable was on the fringe of the scope of the project.
Also, w.r.t. the tool crashing with extra files or characters - I'll figure out what's going on there and include a fix once Patch 10 comes out in a few weeks.

@Otherworld
Hey crowtrobot, sorry to bother you again. I've narrowed down my problem a bit - maybe you can help. If i use 1 or 50 custom liveries with your tool, in the second session, so either qualifying after practice, or race after practice or qualifying, certain parts of my player car won't load or render. Its always the bonnet, front bumper, rear bumper or boot. Never wheels, windows, lights or doors and it's only in the second session. First session, the car loads fine and looks fine, whether it's a 5 min session or 30 min, it's only when the next session starts that the problem appears. The skin renders over the car but the whole section of car is missing. Still there, but invisible. you can even see the rear spoiler-mounted taillight still floating where the spoiler should be. Only the player car, never the AI cars. Any car, any track, any mode, any skin - vanilla liveries do it too, if i use your tool and leave 1 in the livery list. As i said before, the missing parts will flicker and appear according to how close to a replay camera they are and also, all parts are visible from cockpit or bonnet view (all parts that can be seen, anyway), so when the bonnet hasn't loaded in an external view, i can see it in cockpit view...?
No other mods.
No non-livery files.
Liveries named and organised correctly.
New install of the custom liveries tool - never used it before
Export a package and activate it - same problem with player car.
I'm stuck
Seems to be all cars. I've tried Formula A with downloaded skins and your test skins. Main car i'm wanting to change is the Ford Falcon FG. Have tried Stock Car and Ford Escort too. All have same issue. Whenever i use the tool with a custom skin (or even a vanilla skin and nothing else), it happens. If i disable everything the problem goes away. If i use the single custom livery method built into the game with vanilla AI cars, it works fine. Got me all confused. This is my first post ever in the forums - i can usually figure this stuff out myself but nah, not this time :( Download was quick and seemed fine. I extract with 7-Zip and run everything as admin. Everything seems to be fine and plays fine except these missing/invisible visuals...
