    Assists or no?

So, I have gone through like 10 pages of posts and didn't see anything related to weather or not I should be using assists (abs, traction control, stability control) and what even is steering assistance and brake assistance? Should I have this stuff on/off? I'm trying to learn with it all off for "realism" but my times suck cause I'm way afraid of spinning out...

    What control are you using?
Keep the steering and brake assist off. They help you turn and brake. Not needed.
ABS traction control and stability you can set as you please but they won't entirely stop you from spinning. They're pretty good in their realistic application (I thought so when I use them), which means it'll smooth your inputs a if you're rough but won't save you if you're too silly.
There's also the real assist option which will turn on/off ABS/TC/SC as per the real life cars' features. Like a GT3 will have ABS and TC but a classic Lotus won't have any assists. All off isn't full realistic because some cars do have those assists and are used in real life.
Personally I keep them off. Have a search for it: there are big discussions on the topic.

Learn the track will probably net you the best gains. Learn the car, watch some videos, read some books and articles. It'll come down to that lightbulb moment where you apply some track driving techniques correctly and suddenly find seconds.
Also Driver61.com and his YouTube channel is great.

Just briefly checked out that website....That's pretty cool how many tutorials the guy has. Didn't watch any but definitely will take some time out and do that.
Aerodynamics are for people who can't build engines.

I also use the assist set to real. The most close way to how the real caris I suppose.
