My new V2 DIY ButtonBox with Arduino "Project"

    Hello everybody

since a few weeks I'm planing to build a V2 of my existing button box.

This time with the Arduino controller from the Forum user Rotorian.

And I want to share the building phase of this little "project" with you guys to show you how easy that is and maybe that it can/will help some other to do the same.
I'll try to show you as much as possible details of every single step. But as I have very limited free time at the moment, I can't promise that there will be progress every single day, but we will see.

Currently I'm ordering and collecting some nice items for the box.
I order a lot directly in China and in most of the cases there is a lot of good things coming around, but sometimes it is only crap.
    Some of the good items:
Start Button and Arduino board (the Arduino is from Gamehound Austria, not China)

    Start Button illuminated:

LED illuminated on/off switch with safety cap for on/off of the box itself

Some LEDs for illumination of the box

And some boxes, I will most probably go for the one in the middle.

The box is not very nice looking, but it will be covered with some carbon fibre look foil or maybe covered by a carbon fibre face plate.

Two possible arrangements: (the start button is top/down just for designing purpose)
    Option1

Currently I'm waiting for some on/off/on toggle switches. They will be placed in the middle where at the moment the on/off switches are as a "placeholder"
These will be used for brake bias etc.

If you like, you can comment the arrangements.
    Any feedback is appreciated.

    More to come soon!

Good job in perspective, I will follow this topic!
I prefer the first arrangement, but two button boxes each side of the wheel should be GREAT, but not easy due to the connexions between both of them.
Could you detail what will be the use of the two switch with covers?

    Thanks for the feedback Fre.Mo

That is an interesting idea, the cabling/connection is not a big deal. the cables only need to be long enough.
But I doubt that you will need so many buttons :-)

One will be to turn the box on/off, the other will be on/off for the illumination of the box itself. so not really related to the game.

My personal preference is option 2, so at the moment
    Option1 = 1
    Option2 = 1

Thanks guys, once the missing items have arrived, you will see much more progress.

Currently I'm in contact with the user Rotorian from this forum for a faceplate to make the "boring" design less boring.

But also the carboon fibre look foil will do a lot with regards to look.

I'll be following this too, as I'm currently on the fence about making a button box for myself (currently using a keyboard).

Be patient for a few more days, maybe a week or two and you will see how easy that is. Especially with the Arduino.
    Stay tuned.

Hey G, I see you get the project started... Real good!
Question, what will be the functions you want to give the buttons.
I see 3 adjustment switches 1/0/1. I assume for BB, FARB and RARB.
But what about seat adjustment for example?

And do you want to use 2 boxes at the same time? A letter (eg W) will be a letter W for the ps4, regardless with which box the input is given. This is limiting the total amount of inputs. (Is this what you meant Fre.Mo?)

you have some nice stuff there G!
