    Thanks for the suggestions all

Falcon - does your office chair have wheels though ?

The base in your photo could work from the pedals perspective - but surprised to hear you can reach 100% braking without the chair rolling back (assuming you have wheels) - but if it can be configured to have less pressure applied to registed 100% then this could be the answer

Yes, my office chair does have wheels. I have the brake pedal on the lowest stiffness as I like to race with socks but that also helps in the chair not moving.

One cheap and easy way to prevent an office chair from rolling is to get non-slip caster cups for under the wheels, they come in a good range of sizes with either felt or rubber on the underside. Easy to fit and remove as required too.

Awesome thanks falcon - knowing Mr alien is racing in socks like me with those will probably be the deal clincher!

How exactly did you accomplish the lowest stiffness? Does that involve buying extra springs from Fanatec?

I have a small wooden batten screwed into the floor along the top edge of my pedals which stops any movement from the pedal unit, and my office chair has wheels with a little locking clip on each one, so you just click the catch and then there is no movement. You might be able to find locking casters for your chair and replace the ones you have.
The swivel chair works really well with the Oculus rift though, as you can rotate around in a VR space without losing balance.

You can define the strength of min and max pressure in the fanatec software. So once u have them just press as hard as u can for max without the chair moving, click the max button in the fanatec software and your set.

It's easy to work with carpet and wheelie chair without diy however u (as me currently) will miss out on preciseness as you cannot take advantage of the real power of the load cell as much as you would like.

Easily still better than g27 pedals though and it's made me more consistent and accurate if not faster.

U can also define the travel of the pedal.

I use my cast iron dumbbell weights, the lip of the wheels rests onto them & holds it in place.
