I haven't played 7.0 yet as I'm on xbox, although I didn't (after a few controller setting changes) have problems with 6.0 and found it more enjoyable than before hand. Even then, I'm not sure we can comment much either way until a dev says anything. At the moment we have no idea why it was changed again, if it was because they felt themselves after further testing that it was wrong, if it was the please the masses or if its a temporary thing until they find a middle ground.

    ^^^^^This.

Further to that end there's no console patch notes, correct me if I'm wrong, people are panicking over something that is not even in existence..

Been there, done that... Why do you even care? Totally irrelevant question when you can find the answer based on my other posts.
You also lack other options for me to answer you, eventually.

    1. The medium and hard tyres don't have a big enough temperature gap to the soft tyres in the same conditions.
    2. The pace gap of medium and hard tyre to soft is too big, so that even an overheated soft tyre is quicker than a well placed medium tyre
    3. Medium and Hard tyre often don't offer a big enough durability advantage (wear) over the soft tyre to justify the pace difference in a race.
