    WIP making speaker pods

Since this is a "car nut" forum i thought it was a good idea to share with you how to simply make custom speaker pods...(i'll attempt to at least)

First cut out your speaker rings and mount them as you want them to sit with whatever scrap woodsticks an glue you have...

Next up is covering them with fleece (in my case an old T-shirt)
I sticked the material on with double-sided tape...

Oh...be sure to reinforce the inside...i've seen people use wrapped up tinfoil or expanding foam (in a spray can) but since i have some fiberglass matting laying around,i'll use that...

    Nice work.
Once you sand it smooth you may need another layer of putty/plaster to fill the dips/valleys/low points then sand it back again.
Are you filling in the space behind the speaker? Why?

    Yep...will do
I'm not filling it,just re-inforcing...better to be safe than sorry
Encountered a hick-up i'm sorry to say: my filler cracked because i leaned on the piece too hard while sanding it so i'll try and resolve the issue with fiberglass...
No time to continue ATM so next pictures will be in about a week or so...

The issue here is that i can't go to far/thick with my filler because than the lever for rolling down my window will be in the way...

Didn't measure the clearance before positioning the speaker mounts, did you?
    Measure twice, cut once
You could go custom window winder (the lever), change to a shorter handle/lever?

I'm a little confused - is this project so you can mount bigger speakers in your car doors?
