    [ANSWERED] Newbie questions

Hi all, I've been practicing for a couple of months.... my goal is to be able to enter online races and race cleanly...
I noticed when i enter an online race everybody except me has a particular triangle shaped icon, either red or yellow, under the "invite " column... what is it?..
    I then get booted out.
    I need enlightenment....
    Thanks

Just in case you haven't noticed the Xbox1 section.

Under your forum user profile you can change your platform to Xbox1. As for the triangle icons, sorry can't help, I'm on PC/Steam.

OK, so first up, a couple of clarifications. I'm assuming you're talking about the online lobby screen. Are you talking about the screen below:

    Assuming this is the screen:

    1) The "Invite" text you see with the icon next to it is actually a menu item. You can highlight it using the D-pad and select it to invite friends. It's not actually a column label, although I could see why you'd think that. It's a less than optimal layout.

    2) The triangles you see indicate the player's ping to the host. They're meant to look like cell phone/WiFi signal strength indicators. FWIW, I rarely see green either. Most of the time, I get yellow, with the occasional red. Red are usually overseas players (I'm in the US).

I'm on PS4, so I don't know exactly how to do this, but most consoles have a network test you can run. You need to determine your NAT type and connection quality. If your XB is connected via WiFi, that can be a contributor as well. WiFi has worse latency than wired ethernet, and can suffer from disconnect issues if connection quality is poor.

Players may be kicking you out because they anticipate you will be lagging and therefore difficult to drive close to.
Have you tried using filters on the lobby list to look for sessions near your location?

Is your console connected by WiFi? Can you run an Ethernet cable instead?
