I would have agreed with you, but I had stuttering even with fresh installation on W10. Still stutterfree on W8.1

Many people having problems with GTX 1060 6Gb with the new 397.31 including me..
Windows is disabling the driver because it "reported a problem" (Code 43).
It seems largely to do with this particular card as others have installed ok.

I had to do a clean install of the older 391.35 and will wait for a fix from Nvidia

Hello, I have an Asus GTX 1060 Dual 3 Gb, and I tried the driver that you ask, but I'm back immediately on the latest driver released by Asus in the official site that is the 398.xx because I had many problems since the first releases of the new 40x.xx driver
They seem to be optimized a lot for RTX.
    I have windows 10 64Bit
A friend of mine with a GTX 1080Ti had the same problem and came back to the 399.xx driver

What kind of problems? I am on the current drivers usually and it works flawless so far. Didnīt do any benchmarking though.

seems that gamers with specs near an office PC have performance problems
Same here, nVidia on the latest driver revision. No problem at all, not 2D , not VR.

Id completely lost all performance lately and was getting crashes and massive lock ups in games i've played hundreds of hours in !
Was really pissing me off ! All after trying latest drivers !
I use DDU on all updates and was beginning to think nVidia had done something on latest drivers making my and all Pascal cards need to be on the latest drivers so they'd be slower now and we would all upgrade .
I have had the same undervolt 0.900mv@1898GHz for the last year and a half on my Galax GTX 1080Ti and just used the same settings for games but now i was not able to play longer than 10 minutes without issue !
Turns out something in the driver updates or even Win 10 updates or maybe Steam or Oculus updates screwed my undervolt up ! Even though the curve still looked the same , after i reset it and redid the same curve again i have my performance back
Why would one of these updates screw my undervolt up even though the curve still looked right ?
Anyway now on latest driver 416.34 and have the same performance as i did in May last year when i first did this undervolt
