Lost position by viewing replay during manufacturer race

I'm a few meters away from finishing the Ginetta proving grounds race at Cadwell Park. Before pressing the "options" button I was in 2nd position, with the AI in 3rd following close behind. I selected "view replay", watched for a few seconds and then pressed circle to go back to the pause screen. During the transition from the replay screen to the pause menu I could hear engine sounds for a fraction of a second. I have yet to resume the race but am now in 3rd position, both on track and in the positions table shown on the pause screen.

Edit: I entered and exited replay mode again and now I'm back in 2nd position.
