    After 8 hours of gameplay...

... this is my impression. I have only played online MP and TT (including community events)

    Good:

    - A lot of cars to choose from. I stick to about 4-5, but choices are great.

    - A lot of tracks. Awesome.

    - An attempt to introduce a ranking system for online MP.

    - Menus are a little better laid out.

    - Simpler to set up and race.

    - Ferrari and Porsche. Yes! Still so many others to try too.

    - Even with the G29 acting weird, it still feels more intuitive than PC1.

The not so good at all:

    - Track limits are still a mystery to me. Supposedly, 50% of the car has to be on the tarmac (which makes no sense). But in some places, you get penalised for barely touching a curb. Some for locking up. I even had one session on the Nordschleife where you get penalised for no reason whatsoever. Itís on the way up the long uphill winding straight at the back of the circuit. Then Iíve tried TT mode at Spa, and got penalised for locking up, but when I tried it online MP mode the limits where practically non-existent, and never got penalised for any mistakes.

    - The online lobby is a mess. Races that are running are showing up. Why on earth would you join that? Some more filters would be appreciated, like not seeing races I canít join.

    - The safety rating or whatever itís called, as I said, is a great idea. But right now itís an absolute mess. I have entered probably around 12 online races or so, and my rating has dropped for the following: Randomly being disconnected, exiting sessions that were frozen, being rammed by the AI, being slammed into by other drivers, sessions terminated by the host, etc. So that means that I have somehow dropped to U1390, and there are many races I canít enter (yet they still show up in my lobby...). Which brings me to the next bit...

    - Almost all of the online MP races I have entered have been unplayable. The sessions freeze, extreme lag when others join, the wall of death mid straight at Spa, very questionable penalties... And on top of it you get deducted ratings points for something you didnít do.

    - I donít think the penalties work right. I was overtaking two cars in a braking zone, got rammed from behind, the two other cars got tangled up, and somehow I had to give back three places. Also, you can hang on to a slow down penalty by just waiting for a braking zone.

    - The load/save setup doesnít work properly. It all gets cars and circuits all muddled up.

    - The audio in a lot of cars splutters a lot. Like when traction control kicks in, except itíll do it random points even at high speed.

    - Sometimes it doesnít remember which assists were on from qualifying to the start of the race. Iíve even had the car feel vastly different from one session to the next.

    - The graphics are disappointing to be honest. I know itís just a lowly PS4, but I have other games with great graphics, and these are just not what anyone would expect in 2017. Lots of flat highly pixelated parts.

    - In some replays, the driver canít be seen in the car. Oh wait. There he is. Nope, gone again. No biggie, though. Those are the things I would expect to be patched, and not all the essentials to make a great racing sim.

    - No info on coming patches or what they will fix.

    Conclusion:

It could be great, but unfortunately itís nowhere near finished, nor is it optimised for PS4 or very common wheels. Bottom line for me, is that the developers have had too much to handle, and completely lost sight of what they were trying to achieve. Or perhaps it was deliberate. Perhaps the expanded track and car list, along with the more accessible setups, were meant to make it more arcade-like. This version is certainly a beta version of a Sim.

I somehow feel like they would have been a lot better off creating cars for 4-5 race categories, 16 tracks, and then really focus on making that exceptional... I would have been over the moon with that, rather than very disappointed with hundreds of cars and a lot of tracks in a game that doesnít meet the requirements of a final product yet that I paid Ä99 for. Itís most likely a year out from being a good game.

No info on patches? Ian said himself they are coming.

You guys are so damn impatient.

I think every gamer should have to take a coding class. As an undergraduate, I took a class in programming with visual basic. We would make these stupid little applications to do things like calculating cost and all that. It was about as hard as my senior level classes in Geological sciences. One missing comma would crash the program and it would take the class hours just to find the error in a few lines of code.

I can only imagine the code for an entire video game. These guys have to systematically go through everything and they have to be careful. Fixing one bug can create 10 more. It isn't a quick fix. The devs probably have over 500,000 lines of code. Let them work through the bugs. Give them time. You whining doesn't solve everything, it ruins the forum experience for everyone. Seriously, like every other post on this site is a tantrum. Chill.

They can have all the time they want BEFORE they release a game. When You buy a game, You buy a product and a product should be working 100%.
I like the game and what You say s true, but they should not have released it until it was far from where it is now.

By that logic you should learn to work a mixing console, record live drums and play guitar if you want to listen to music.

Every gamer is a consumer that buys a product. And when the developer sells you a product that doesn’t work smoothly yet, it’s only right that the wrongdoing is voiced. There was certainly no hesitance to receive the money...

Imagine if you paid top dollar to go to the opera... and the diva is flat, forgets a few parts, randomly walks off stage... Would you just walk away saying “well, it is very hard singing opera”?

I don’t play any other games really. I bought PC1 a while after it was released. I just enjoy the odd spot of sim racing.

As far as I understand, no games are bug free. Ever! No technology will ever be. I appreciate coding is very complex. That’s why I pay someone handsomely for their work. Very handsomely. And when I do, I understand there will be little bugs here and there. But I’m not talking about little bugs... these are bugs that make the game very difficult to actually play.

Time Trial for example. You go round a circuit as fast as legally possible all on your own to set a lap time for others to compete against. Getting that time deleted for absolutely no reason makes the whole thing completely pointless, and it becomes an exercise in learning where all the bugs are and trying to drive around them. That’s not a bug. That’s just an outright huge mistake from the developers, no matter how you want to phrase or compare it.

Yes and they're aware of that and yes it is frustrating.

There is nothing wrong with expressing your frustrations about certain issues...it's the way you go about it that is key to how they are received...
The constant abuse that is sometimes present in some threads does not add anything constructive to a conversation...
Mods will help where they can, devs will post important information, the CEO himself has shown his presence more than once...that all can change in a heartbeat just the same as it did in 2015...
Treat people with respect and respect you will get in return...
SMS encourages people to report anything they find...we as mods report everything to the devs so you can rest assure that when we say it's a known issue, the devs certainly know about it...
When we see a thread that starts with abuse we don't even bother to read any further...
We are all human beings here (well maybe me not as much ) so please treat us as such...
