What do you mean it isn't a car movie, the blues mobile is the center piece of the show.

    My favorite quote though...

Or what I always think "It's 10 laps around the ring, I've got a full tank of gas, it's dark and I am wearing my Vive. HIT IT!"

Well, i was thinking along the lines of it not being a car movie in the same way that something like The Transporter, Rush, Death Race or The Gumball Rally are. It's not really focused around racing or some kind of big automotive event where a majority of the movie is around the character/s and their vehicles.
It's more of a musical themed movie, that just happens to have a fair bit of 4 wheeled action, hahaha (and an awesome bridge jump). Google calls it 'comedy music/action', while IMDB adds 'adventure' and even 'crime'.

Just dragged my lovely wife (not a car nut) along to see this film this afternoon (I forgot to tell her the 2hr:34 running time) and she really enjoyed it. I did too, I think it does a wonderful job of capturing why we love cars and racing, and the main actors do tremendous work bringing the story to life. I thought Christian Bale was excellent in the way he depicted Ken Miles' story. Highly recommended and don't worry about tiny factual errors that reviewers have picked up on, it tells the story well.

I finally watched Ford v Ferrari and I was pretty disappointed. I mean, cars are beautiful, and many car scenes are fantastic (well, footwork on track often does not look right to me).

But off-track it's a mediocre movie and I don't get why it was nominated to the Oscars. Too many side lines so each of them sort of cursory. E.g., Shelby's heart disease and its consequences for him deserved more in-depth treatment. I would rather have the fantastic story of Shelby Daytona and its aerodynamics instead of elaboration on son-daddy issues like in almost every US movie (Ken/Peter, Deuce/Ford 1st, even Shelby talks about his father). Another very cliche conflict between a loving wife and a husband who does dangerous and poorly-paying things that he loves.

Basic cinematographic sins: you shouldn't show people describe things when you can show these things - for example, when they did aerodynamic testing of GT40 and the movie shows people saying that threads of wool stand up instead of showing the threads standing up.

Yes, Bale was wonderful, as he always is. But on the other hand, Damon did not look or behave like Shelby except for mild accent. Unfortunately, acting is not something that Damon can do, he is identical in every movie.

The pre-LeMans scene was nonsensical, Miller leaving his hotel and it is shown as if he walked to the circuit in the middle of the night, which is more like an hour walk and (as shown just before) he does not know the area. The airport looked suspiciously modern.

In total, I don't think I wasted my money (it was an on demand rental, so cheap ;-) ), again, car scenes were really good and exciting, and I think the movie touched a little bit on how it is to drive competitively, though in a corny way. But altogether it wasn't great.

    many facts were historically incorrect.
In the movie Ken was not allowed to go to LeMans in the first year. This manager clown prevented that.
    IRL he was there.
So i think the whole story between Ken and this idiotic Ford manager was just a Hollywood dramatic bull sh*t.
Oh, our poor hero must be hurt, to better rise later on. I think, they could have done it better.

Yes. I think even his son has said that Ken took him there in '65, the only time Pete was at LeMans.

But I am OK with some historical inaccuracies of this type if it makes for an engaging story. But the story is not shown in an engaging way anyway.
