SO i have been able to test this more.

In career mode at indy the car is pulling violently to the left in race and quali. it is totally undrivable. I have tried changing setup etc and it did nothing.

I went into custom race and same issue it is like the car is always cornering on an oval even though you are on the straight is how i would describe it.

I went into private test and there is a slight pull to the left but i am able to complete laps and maintain control without much of a problem. even corner without lifting.

basically if there are others in the gamemode the car will think you need to corner at all times and cannot be driven.

It is a difficult thing to properly describe, but the car easing to the left - which is obviously intentional - feels less like a part of the tune (as in practice) and more like something you actively need to fight to keep control of the car (in races). Presumably attempting to fight the pull just causes the car to lose even more control and before you know it you're slamming into the inner wall.

I encourage anyone on an original Xbox One to just give it a try, turn on the IndyCar preset in Quick Race and just leave all settings as they are, go to Indianapolis and do a race in a modern IndyCar. I'd be very curious to see a lap of anyone who can actually control it.

    Hey Chappers!
I too have encountered this. I've had to forgo every oval race in the career mode due to this issue. I will say from a massive Indy fan (been to every 500 since I was 9) I was feeling excited due to the release of patch 3, I decided to enter my last race (career-wise) which is Sonoma (even a road course) and oddly enough a similar thing is happening too. In practice I'm 5 seconds faster than everyone else. I qualify with the pole, however I cannot for the life of me keep the car on the track from the first lap of the race. It just feels like I've lost my footing (similar to how the ovals feel). When I was really hoping this patch would have fixed indy but I fear it was overlooked.

Smoking Tires everywhere still, (however tire temps no longer show red - but it feels worse than when I even had hot tires in patch 2.0)

to the defense of SMS - I will say the AI is def better - they actually acknowledge when they are overtaken now.

Tire overheating glitch is still there for a full 32 car grid at indy, I'll step down a couple of cars per session until I find a number the game is happy with

Okay, here's what I've found out. BTW using a home brew Oval setup since the defaults are horrible...

With 32 cars on the grid, the back right tire, will overheat on lap 2 regardless on setup, Followed shortly by the front right. The Back right tire is only losing about 1-2 degrees while going down the straight, meaning it overheats very quickly...

With 29 cars on track, back right will peep into the read around lap 2 but only fully overheat around lap 4. The tire doesn't seem to loose that much grip until about half way, but it burns out very quickly. It's loosing 4-7 degrees per straight... Had the front right and back left start to overheat around lap 6-7

Taking a guess, less than 25 cars shouldn't be too much of a problem, but I'll test more tomorrow

Oval IndyCars have oval setups. A oval setup is designed to go left. The car does pull left you have to use some countersteer to the right to get the car to go straight in straights. It is these elements in the setup that helps it maintain high speeds through a turn.

The car will not even begin to handle properly until you get the speeds up. It is not designed to go 40 mphs it is designed to go 225 mphs. You have to be very tender with it at low speeds because it isnt designed to drive at low speeds. The speed is actually what makes it drive better.

If you remove the parts of the setup that make it maintain speed through the turn then it will actually get slower through the turns and kill your lap times. Fast oval cars are fast because of the speed through the turns much like road car racing.

They pull to the left, by 4 or 5 time the amount they are supposed to, strong enough for you not to have to turn.
This is me NOT turning, solo practice (see backstraight and turn 3)

Then this is me, still not turning in a 32 car field :

Tires are hot on the out lap, burning the rest of the way.
