    soft vs hard tires

for longer races, +10 laps, one would think it could be an advantage to choose Hard for slower tirewear, but I down experience that.
The one sideeffect is harder to keep temperature up, and on the lotus 98T they even gets undriveable cause the are too slippery even when hot.

In Lemans 911GT3R they just harder to keep hot, but no notable prolonged tirewear.

So whats the point of hard compound?
only if tires get too hot?

there are multiple threads on this topic already.

the soft tires are for colder temps. the hard tires are for the rest. you need to use the correct tire for the conditions.
