    AMD RX 480 8gb +vr?

Anyone have this setup, could I run decent settings?

Kinda hesitant to get it reading even the 1080 has some issues with PC2.

Really rather hear it from here then anywhere else before I make my purchase.

    Thanks,

You will be able to run the game smoothly with a mix of low/medium and high graphics settings.

My RX580 (8gb) is essentially the same GPU (with slightly higher core/memory clocks) and it runs well.

A 1080/Ti would be ideal, but keep in mind that most games are either not sufficiently optimized or CPU bound.

It seems comparative to the 970.
So by my guess it would struggle even at the lowest settings.

    But should technically work.
    Main rig: Asus ROG - strix z370, i7 8700k, MSI 1080ti gaming x, 16GB 3200mhz DDR4
    Logitech g533 headset. 32" ultrawide - Oculus Rift CV1.
G29 - CH fighterstick - CH pro throttle - CH pro pedals

    Second rig: MSI gaming 5 z97 chipset - i7 4790k - 16GB 2400mhz RAM - 980ti.

I'm running an overclocked RX480 at 1440p and get 50-60 fps iirc with mostly high, some medium settings.
1440p is 2560x1440 (3.7M) where as current gen VR is usually 2160x1200 (2.6M) so fps should be quite a bit higher.
The trouble is next generation VR is already promising higher resolutions, HTC revealed last week it's new VIVE will support 2880x1600 (4.6M) so the RX480 isn't looking too hot for that.

Edit: It turns out my post is probably FAKE NEWS! Move along please lol.

Doesn't work like that unfortunately, don't forget it's 360 degrees, I don't know how VR res translates to monitor res but it will be a lot more demanding.

I run triples at 5760x1080 on a 980ti and I ran a Pimax VR at 2560x1440, I can keep 70-80fps on triples but struggled to maintain 60fps on VR even lowering graphics settings.

    I run a GTX 1080 + i5 4690k @ 4.4GHz and at medium / low settings I'm hardly ever seeing 90fps. I wouldn't expect much from any AMD card in VR with pCARS 2

Hmm. Not sure what you mean by "it's 360 degrees". Surely pixel count is pixel count, whether they are shown on 2 screens in front of your face or 1 monitor on your desk. 2560x1440 seems a strange resolution for VR, are you sure it wasn't 2560x1440 per eye? Although that would be odd too. If not damn I need to go away and research more about how these things work hehe.

I would think not so good for VR . My 1080 Ti cant maintain 90 at certain tracks and weather conditions and 45 FPS with ASW looks like pooh in certain cars on certain tracks , other parts it looks fine but the artifacts from ASW on say LongBeach kills it .
