Try <STRG> + <SPACE> to recenter after entering the first menu. You can then assign a button for e.g. "look left + recenter". Hold that button for 2 sec and it will recenter while in the car.

EDIT: Yes, you are right: far from intuitive. I stll love PC2.

I was baffled by the starting in the sky thing, but if you peep outside the headset and click in the steam VR settings to reset the viewpoint, it gets you back to where you should be. My ACC always starts 10ft above the garage and game menu. Resetting it once you are in the car you can use ctrl-space. Only then will you see just how blurry the image is
I did some faffing around a few weeks ago and I did get it looking sharper, but a recent update to steam VR or ACC has put it back to blur-o-vision for me. That brief period when I had it sharp in VR it was actually very enjoyable, but I can't remember what I altered to make it look good, so I'm stuck with fuzzy looking cars all around me.

All I saw was race cars and not many of those. Are there any road cars in ACC?

ACC is all about Blancpain GT3 so far. If you´re lucky you might get GT4 one day. Road cars are very unlikely to happen though.

I think I wasted $40. Oh well, I'll try spending some time with it on a weekend or two later and see if I can tweak it to my liking, but for now, it seems like a step backward for what I want to do in a sim.

I've enjoyed playing it, sure it's limited but the racing (I prefer offline) is good and the sound is very immersive. It has good versions of famous tracks and I think it does what it does well. Imo it doesn't handle that differently to PC2, I played both back to back in the same car and track combination yesterday afternoon and I was within 0.1sec within 4 laps on both.

Just running default setups, it feels like they put Fred Flintstone rock tires on the front and magic pixie-dust perma-stick tires on the rear.

Only way I could get the Lambo to turn was with harsh trail-breaking or a ham-fisted Scandinavian Flick.

I eventually got a setup that had some semblance of balance....after like 3 laps of tip-toeing to heat stuff up.

That's another thing that I'm not a fan of with ACC. They push "realism" in areas that don't interest me. For instance, I have to map one button for the ignition and another button for the starter....and I have to use them every time I drive?

I get that this is how real race cars work, but I have never really craved the "thrill" of using a starter button...not even on a race car. There should be an "automatic start" option to save my limited stock of wheel buttons for other stuff.

I understand I'm comparing a sim I have spent a lot of time tweaking to one that is almost all "default", but PC2's intuitive layout pulled me in and made me want to dive in deeper. ACC's "Eff VR" approach has me like:

Maybe there are different assist options for different "levels"?

I did not see it under "Pro". I assumed "pro" was just a preset...never occured to me that it would omit stuff altogether. *edit* I associate "assists" with things like stability control, ABS, traction control, etc. Maybe that's why I didn't see it?...wasn't looking there.

I will go back and look again...counter-intuitive interface.

Is there an easy-button hidden somewhere for the whole screen in the sky/driver in the floorboard VR thing?

*that* would make ACC much more workable for me.

No, but I did have that a couple of times but the last few times I've used VR in ACC it's behaved itself (still doesn't look great)
