i7-7700K here. With 4 pthreads I didn't experience any sudden loss of traction yet. I also have the feeling that traction is a lot more consistent. But that's very subjective and hard for me to say because I also did lower pressures and target temps in all my setups at the same time I did set that option.

Would be interesting if you could do some more testing with a car set up such that you clearly experience the problem, then switch to -pthreads 4 and see if it changes anything. If even an i7 7700K gives a difference, it would be interesting info for the devs.

I have a old Intel i7-930 CPU. What pthreads option I must be use? 1, 2, 3 or 4? Also, I only want this for GT3 cars, not for LMP1 & LMP2 cars where all is perfect for me.

To be clear, about the number of threads avaliable in each desktop Intel Processor:

Hyperthreading means 2 excution lines por core, so you have the double of logical procesors (what windows can manage).

You can check it in the task manager:

The parameter "-pthreads 4", I suppose refers to threads (or logical processors). But could be that in the game reffers to other thing, who knows.

If reffers to logical cores used, I don't know if "-pthreads 4" means "can use 4 threads for physics" or "reserve 4 threads for physics".

    Test & error I suppose.

You can't enable it on a car by car basis, the launch switch applies to the game as a whole. Try it and if you feel no difference or don't like it for whatever reason, remove it

Just to note, there is a difference between application/OS threads and CPU threads. The OS can and does task swap already to support multiple application threads (and has done for years). It's not clear if "pthreads" is referring to application threads or CPU threads, but I would wager it is application threads as I'm not aware if an application can directly control CPU threads (typically, the OS/kernel restricts direct access).

I could be wrong, but in pc1 didn't pthreads 4 set one thread per tire for better physics calculating over the default 2 threads? Am I misremembering?

Yes, I remember that too. But in some way is related with the CPU performance.

So here is a screen shot of how tyre temp goes. This was the Ford GT at Spa. If I hadn't had an interruption I would have kept chasing my time.Click image for larger version.
