Microsoft Controller buttons reassignments - Project Cars 2 (PC version)

Apologies if that has been talked about previously, but in the EDIT ASSIGNMENT tab, with the Microsoft controller selected (in the PC version of Project Cars 2), I cannot reassign buttons on my controller.
For example, I'd like to use buttons X and B for gears down and up. Currently the LT and RT are assigned by default.
    Any help is appreciated.
    thank you,

I believe there are some profiles that have things you cannot reassign. One option would be to use the Custom Controller profile which should let/force you to assign everything.

I just tried replacing gear up/down with X and B on a 360 controller and it works fine, which begs the question, what exactly does the OP mean by not being able to assign the buttons ?

And that's using the default Microsoft controller mapping as a starting point, not custom

How do you use the "Custom Controller Profile" within the Project Cars 2 game?!

In the controller menu where it shows which controller profile it's using, you should be able to change that to 'Custom'.
