Game crashing to desktop after qualifying

    Hi all.

Running multiplayer on PC with Oculus Rift VR, launched using Steam. I'm having problems with the game crashing to the desktop at the end of qualifying. As soon as you go to the screen showing the table containing the quali results, there's a moment of silence and the game closes.

Happening about 50% of the time. Oculus, Steam, PCARS2 and Windows all up to date.

    Anyone else having this problem?

Same here, playing on HTC Vive.
The game crashed two of the three times i've tried playing online, it crashes when shows the results of the quali.

camilozt - so I guess we can conclude it has nothing to do with your HTC software, or my Oculus software

What are your full system specs? What settings are you using for VR? What error message do you get, if any? Also what does the Windows error reporting show? Have you tried verifying pC2's Game File Cache in Steam? Are you running the latest graphics and VR device drivers? Does the game have full (admin) permissions?

Sankyo - thanks for the interest. Bunch of good questions.

In my case - there is no error message, the audio stops, then there's a couple of seconds of a frozen quali results table with no audio, then a black screen and the game quits entirely leaving me with Oculus home (meaning: Oculus is still running but PCARS2 has quit).

Regarding system specs: ASUS ROG GL720V, i7 6700HQ, 6GB VRAM, DDR 4G + 8G RAM, NVIDIA GTX 1060, current/ up to date Windows 10 and the same system has been running PCARS2 trouble-free since it launched (and PCARS1 before that). No recent system changes (other than allowing updates from Windows, Steam, Oculus and PCARS2) that would explain the game crashing, and I don't use the PC for any other purposes or even run any other games. I believe all drivers are up to date and will check this.

I don't know about Windows error reporting or the game file cache in Steam but I will take a look.

    Appreciate your pointers.

    Hi! thanks for the help.
    i'm using a MSI laptop, i7 7700hq, GTX1060 3gb, 16gb Ram.
I use the standard config for VR, i haven't made any change.
The error that appears is from windows notifiying that there was a problem and the game must close, just that, no more explanation haha.
I've checked the file cache in steam, updated all my drivers and the game has admin permissions.
    The game still crashes.
It seems that it only crashes when there are a lot of players in the session, like 10 or more.
I've played 3 times with only 2 more players in the race and had no troubles.
    I hope there's a solution for this.

Hi! I looked for the "bugsplat64.dll" and found another post (i searched bugsplat64.dll in google)
in the post the guy did many different things to fix it but I only tried one, I added P2CARS.EXE and P2CARSAVX.EXE to as exceptions in windows defender.
It seems that the problem has been fixed.
I'll let you know if I keep having troubles.
    Thanks for the help!

I've just had the same problem. After finishing first in the quali .
Before this I played three times without troubles.
It's the same error according to the windows registry, BugSplat64.dll.

Add folder exclusions, rather than for the individual exes. Exclude both the folder PC2 is installed to (steam\steamapps\common\project cars 2) and the "Project CARS 2" folder in documents

    See if that helps
