Exclamation Clutch in Project Cars 2

Hi, I've just bought the game on summer sale and I really enjoy it! The only problem i've found is that the clutch is not working as a real car. I explain myself better: with manual trasmission cars (like the GTOs) you can switch gear without even press the clutch (and it is normal, you can do this in real life too) BUT you can switch gear also with the throttle pedal floored, that it's totally impossible in RL. Now, i know that that argument has been descussed so much before, but i'd prefer if you implement a more realistic clutch, since nowadays it's TOTALLY useless use it except from start moving. I hope that you (devs) will read this and take care of my opinion. You've made a good job, don't spoil it with those "little errors"
p.s.: obviously i turned off the auto clutch option and i'm useing a g29+ h shifter with the default configuration

Ah nice, from what I've read, it seems that to "equalize" players HW, they decided to screw all the people with a proper H pattern shifter.... Not a wise decision imho :C I sense a lack of liberty that, for exaple, Assetto Corsa gives... we'll adapt, as always, but it's NOT a good point for PC2. I could say that it's one (if not the olny one) black spot in this simulator hf anyways and ty for the link

No, using an H shifter is much faster than using paddles, for the cars that do have an H sifter in real life of course. The gear changes happen much faster with the shifter so especially in the straights you get an advantage. On the other hand, it's obviously a lot more difficult to use am H shifter than the paddles, so I think it balances out very well.

No!, for PC users this is unacceptable. Why do you do that!!, Many of us bought the game expecting a full or the most complete Racing simulator. There are a lot of discussion arround that. Many of us bought the complete hardware to enjoy shifting.

We got a dev answer back in May and there are other games out there (only know of AC) that will provide you with the full "clutch" experience.

Also it's not as big of an issue with sequential and/or paddle shifted cars (where you really don't need it) which also happens to be the most used cars.

and you can still use little toy H shifter..

until someone actually comes up with a full FFB Shifter that blocks disengaging when the gearbox is under load, blocks engagement when the gearbox shafts are not within the correct speed range and can give a grinding effect.. when that is available, I'm sure the devs will be more than happy to implement that for you. For now though, just change gear properly, using the clutch like the rest of us with our little toy H shifters.

^^^ A gear lever with a lock/ unlock function related to torque in the drive train would be 90% of the job done, and surely not that complex. The gear lever is a very neglected peripheral that needs some feedback love.

Guys, we all know that the clutch doesn’t work properly, but Casey said that it was a design decision and that not will be changed. Even more, I prefer they keep this untouched at this stage because is a bit risky.

But we must keep in mind for future “Projects”, because it doesn’t work as it should do. Or to be more precise, the cluch works well, but not using it (with manual clutch), is not real. When you don’t press the pedal, the gearbox works in similar way, so not huge difference between doing right or doing wrong.

Many people say, “you still can use the clutch”, and that’s true. But you don’t have any reward of doing thing properly or any penalty of doing wrong. The gears are engaged, whatever you do with the pedals. It’s like in a flight sim you can land without deploying gear landing. You can do it if you want, but if you forget it, no problem, the plane lands in similar way. Sorry but that is not realistic in a sim.

Others say that IRL you can change gear without clutch. Yes, that is true and I do it in real live, but not in any circumstances and whatever you do with the pedals (with the accelerator pushed on the floor, i.e.). No rev matching needed in any circumstance.

But the most unrealistic situation with the clutch/gearbox is start moving without pressing the clutch. With the car stopped you can push the accelerator to the floor in neutral, and without pressing the clutch you can engage 1st gear and the car starts moving smoothly. That’s crazy and absolutely unreal and it’s not justifiable in any point (please don’t try it with your own cars).

I know that it was a design decision, but I hope that for future editions this feature will be revised.
