That's awesome! And, it actually seems doable. I'll write it on my wish list!

Sure no problem, it was a little more work than I thought originally but totally worth it, the level of immersion is insane, you can feel gear shifts, curbs, camber changed etc, it's amazing.

Here is a picture of the rig, and rhen I'll post on materials and cost to make.

Total cost was right around $500. You could get away with cheaper if you used smaller motors and used parts, but I went with overkill on the motors because I want snappy response and the things to last a long time (less heat).

In the picture above you can see the basic mechanical design is my chair is connected to some Mdf, which is connected to the base via a Universal joint. The back of the mdf is connected to two push roads which are connected to my motors. The distance from the center of gravity (chair) to the pushrods is very short because I have powerful motors and wanted the rig to be somewhat compact. If you used wiper modes you could utilize a over the shoulder design to get more mechanical leverage.

The pc receives udp data from the game and then translates the udp into pwm for the motors. This is accomplished by two pieces of software, simtools which runs on the pc, and SMC3 which is freeware that runs on the arduino.

yeah, seems that way. I would have thought you'd want the wheel and pedals to move with the rest of the rig, and also the Rift tracking camera
