I'm a little annoyed because I was excited that I might have had a winning bid at a great price, turned out my page was just not updating after my bid registered for once. I should have known better .

Yes it was a bit caotic. Some bid of 1€ win the auction, but probably are no valid because the system didn't allow bids. These are the bid winners of Australian auction:

The system is a bit unfair because everyone can bid and rise own bids. It doesn't matters if you're simracer or not, if you are Fanatec coustomer or not and probably that makes that gambling professionals registered 5 minutes before auction, are biding against legitimate users. If I could partcipate in an auction of a scuba equipment valued in 1000€ without any restriction, I would participate to resell it, even I'll never be interested in diving.

I posted this in Fanatec forum:

"Don't will be easier and fairer for everyone a raffle of 100 discounts codes of 30-40% for everyone really insterested in DD1?

I'm sure that with the actual auction system there're professionals of biding with the only interest of reselling (others obviously don't, but they have to compite with them). Probably some of the winners are users registered last days, that never purchased a Fanatec product (and never will) and don't know what is a DDW.

I know that Thomas intentions are good, but please, protect your coustomers and legitime simracers who are whom you live from."

If they mantain the auction system, hope they can improve it, and control the bettors to avoid speculators and hackers.

Your missing the first ones that sold for

    $1499 - worked
    $1489 - worked
    $1499 - worked
$1 - system lockup no one could bid
$611 - system locked up couldnt bid, website failed, restarted and winning bid awarded --- There was many who want to bid to lift this
$400 - something in the 400 hundres.. again same as above
$1400 and something i think it was $1471
The 8th one locked up and we were advised to re-login.. however they removed the join auction button on their website with a website restart, so we couldnt rejoin the auction

Those that were still in the auction could continue to proceed and bid on further as per above.\

What is unfortunate and unfair is we were excluded by fanatec advise to re-login.

It was also flawed as people wanted to bid on items, yet it didnt work, and then the item was sold anyway.. (bids as per their documented process was that you could bid until timer reached zero) and that person wins.. However items were sold at 1 minute after 30 seconds went by.. people were clicking bid and it wasnt registered.

in my opinion it was utterly broken and unfair and something they should work on before trying it in larger regions with more people.

Dominic (the OP) has anwered in Fanatec forum that the auctions was postponed until the bugs are fixed.

So none of the $1 wins will be honoured?

I think it's the initial bet when the auction stats, so probably nobody got the DD for 1 AUS. The others under 1000, probably occurred when the system hangs. In the rest of the cases the action ended at very high price with a ridiculous discount. Looks that you only can get a good deal when the system fails. Probably when they fix the issues, you can only achieve a 8-10% discount.

I think the community manager is M.I.A.

I did a better job at GTP for years back in my opinion, in the sense that I was more active in the threads that were relevant. As a community manager you have to be approachable for any questions the community might have and provide new info as soon as possible, but that won't work if you don't log in at the very least once a day.
