Race Car News // Vehicle Development Thread.

This is sorta unrelated to the thread, it's not a request it's more or so an update.

I need everyone to check this out, and tell me your thoughts, PSA: How to ruin a joke.

Rolls Royce Merlin and Rolls Royce Griffon are the 2 most famous Rolls Royce piston engines RR has ever made, these engines we're used in a insane amount of aircraft, in America it was known as the Packard or Allison Merlin's, they we're the same engine just different name. but the most famous users are the Spitfire, Mustang, Mosquito. well the Daimler-Benz DB-605ASCM might be the only counter to the Griffon engine.

Manufacturers are dumping a lot of money developing some crazy "road" cars like AMG, Red Bull Aston. The Gazoo racing Toyota concept is, rumour has it, a fully working concept powered by the TS050 motor(s). That's no screwing around.
The hypercar pissing contest is about to go next level.

I'd rather have LMP-H still, but if it attracts enough Manafacturers to keep the WEC afloat then it will be worth it.

I don't think this is what the new "hypercar" regulations will be. I think they'll be a more beefed-up version of DPi, where there would be chassis already made (like with Oreca and Dallara) and manufacturers put their own engine in it, and style the bodywork to resemble cars they already have.

That would be lame. I would like to see it exactly as it was dreamed of on drivetribe. Those hypercars reeally need some racing gear and then loads of track action.

It'd end up like the LMP900, where a big manufacturer would supply the power train for a smaller chassis/race team then eventually take over and become LMP1.
If GT1 returns, it'll be a huge boost to top end road car development, eventually become too expensive and the manufacturers will quit/ move to a higher category... it's a cycle.
DPi are already heading in that direction in imsa. I'd love to see the return of GT1 though with the next gen crop of hyper cars.
