Pixel per inch is what your eyes see.
Full pixels is what a GPU has to render. No GPU renders ppi.

A 15" full HD monitor needs the same GPU power than a 27" FHD monitor, but has a much higher ppi.
Who said anything about rendering. Pixel is a pixel, of course you need GPU power to feed it.
My point was that despite big difference in resolution, the image quality you see (PPI), will stay the same as Vive Pro/Odyssey, just bigger FOV.
They can gain some due to full RGB matrix but lose it back due to poorer colors and black levels of LCD displays.
New Odyssey+ with Anti SDE screen does a really good job hiding AMOLED pentile matrix, virtually eliminating SDE as such.
Resolution and therefore demand on the system stay the same. Pretty neat.

Odyssey plus adds a layer that softens the image , its a trade off , clarity with more pixels visable to softer image less visable pixels .

It does not soften the picture. It may look this way because you lose pixel grid, but try to read small print text and you can tell right away. Going back to original Odyssey is a visual torture.
