From what I understood from a German YT video the pixels will not be calculated and performance will be improved. It is like lower viewing angle but still more than what we have now on the Rift.

All people who compared the two devices recommended the 5K+ for a sharper image whereas the 8K runs at the same resolution but gets it upscaled, which makes it blurry. What I wonder though is whether one day with two or three more generations of gpus coming one might be able to run the 8K on full resolution?

Pimax 5k+ is 2560×1440 per eye. Essentially same PPI and PPD as Vive Pro/Odyssey, just wider FOV

You just need a beast of a PC to be able to render all those pixels.

What does it render and show when using the lowest FOV compared to the highest ? 120° - 170° FOV ?
Do you still get the same pixels just compressed or stretched ?

youre right , just a typo

    Native resulution:
    Pimax5k+ 2560 x 1440 per eye = 3.6 Megapixel
    Vive pro 1440 x 1600 per eye = 2.3 Megapixel

    Just a small difference

Pixels per inch density is the same, it's just stretched to get wider FOV. People are getting excited over raw resolution numbers without seeing the whole picture.

    OMG.
Pixel per inch is what your eyes see.
Full pixels is what a GPU has to render. No GPU renders ppi.

A 15" full HD monitor needs the same GPU power than a 27" FHD monitor, but has a much higher ppi.

I have the Pimax 4k which is 1920x2160 per eye so 3840x2160 total res, the input resolution is 2560x1440 and the headset upscales the image to 4k, I assume the 5k does something similar.

Thing I don't get though is they call it 5k but it's really 2 x 2.5k screens same as the 4k which is basically 2 x 2k screens but the total pixels on the 4k are more than the 5k.

4k=3840x2160=8,294,400 pixels compared to 5k=5120x1440=7,372,800 pixels which is weird?
