    Multiplayer over LAN

    Hello,

i want to make a lan party but im concerned that my connection is too bad so here are my questions:

How fast should my Internet be (Up and Download please) to play with 6 PCs over the same router? What would you recommend?

Is it possible to play offline over a dedicated server?

    Thank you very much!

I can't answer most of your questions, but something to look into perhaps would be, as you say, a dedicated server setup and using what's called "Sports Play"

// Sports Play will use system sockets instead of Steam networking API. Recommended for offline LAN-only events.
// Use cmdline switch -sportsplay serverIp:hostPort on client to host and join games on sportsPlay server.

Internet speed has nothing to do with LAN. If the router has a 100Mbps switch on it, that is more than enough bandwidth for LAN.

Oh okay. My thought was that the pcs are playing over a official server (Steam or SMS i dont know actually...) together so i thought that the bandwith was an important aspect

Yeah, normally it would be using steam api and remote servers etc, but using sports play and your own dedi setup, you can make it a proper offline LAN event by the looks of it

sportsplay servers are not LAN only. That also are able to work over the internet.
