Crashing to desktop after end of qualifying session, online and offline

Just started playing PC2 (via Steam, always kept updated) and this bug is constantly annoying me.

I started playing online, and it was doing it in various races - but not predictably (though now I read up on this, it appears to be if I finish a lap after the qualifying timer reaches zero). Decided to attempt offline career, went through first quali session, crossed the line after timer reached zero and, sure enough, it crashed to desktop as soon as the session finished.

    PC:
    Windows 10 Home
i7-6800K; 16 GB RAM; GTX 1070 SC running drivers 417.35 (have tried with factory clocks and also underclocking the 'boost clock', no difference)
NVidia GeForce Experience with overlay just showing FPS and ShadowPlay.
Discord running (but no overlay for this game)
Steam running (Steam overlay as usual)
AV: Bitdefender Internet Security (have also granted exception to entire steamapps\common\Project CARS 2 directory

No errors noted in Windows 10 event logs, as it's a 'clean' crash.
The only thing I've modified is the FFB (via guide on this forum, using the Jack Spade PC2 FFB files for my G27).
Main PC: Windows 10 Home; i7-6800K (Broadwell), Asus X99-A/USB3.1, RMX650 PSU; Intel 750 Series 400 GB SSD, WD Blue 1TB, WD Black 4TB; 16 GB Corsair Vengeance 2666 RAM; EVGA GTX 1070 SC ACX3.0 (417.35)
Old PC: Intel i7-4770k (stock 3.5 GHz), 8 GB Corsair Vengeance Pro (2400 MHz), Gigabyte GeForce GTX 770 (Windforce 3X Revision 2), Asus Z87-Plus, Windows 7 Pro x64, Samsung 256 GB EVO 840 (MZ-7TE250BW), Western Digital Caviar Red (WD20EFRX) and Seagate 2TB SSHD (ST2000DX001)

if it's the AV, then try also to set an exception to Documents\Project Cars 2
and you could also to try to rename that folder, then pCARS2 starts by generating a new folder with default configs.
It could be a currupt config file. Unfortunately you'll have to reconfigurate all you settings from scratch.
If that helps, you can copy your tuning setups, carrers, screenshots, media to the new corresponding folders.
But NOT graphics configs and the files in the profiles folder !

If it does not help, you can delete the new folder rename the old back to its original name.
Every car could be a race car, as long as you have the balls to drive it like that !

Thanks for the reply - I have tried those things, no difference. Seems to be a bug...

You're currently the only person reporting this, so either it's a very, very specific bug, or it's something specifically on your system that is causing the issue. My bet is on the latter.

Bitdefender is notorious for causing problems with the game, so make very sure that everything related to pCARS2 is on its exception list.
Are you running Steam as Administrator?

To echo Sankyo's comments, you have just about everything enabled that usually causes issues with PC2. GeForce Experience and overlay, Steam overlay, Bitdefender (don't forget to grant "\Documents\Project CARS 2")...
