ryzen + vr = Cpu bottleneck! WMR only?

So, after lots and lots of testing with my new lenovo explorer I can safely assume that my ryzen 5 is bottlenecking hard my humble rx580. What i find odd is that considering that ryzens are quite popular now, it should have lots of people complaining about ryzen's performance, but it seems thats not the case. I did find a post where this guy had problems with his ryzen + 1080ti which was solved by moving to a intel platform (linkhttp://forum.projectcarsgame.com/sho...zen+bottleneck)

So I wonder, is that really a ryzen problem? or a windows mixed reality exclusive? Do people here with ryzen + rift/vive have any problems with cpu bottlenecks?

I have the exact same issue, running a lenovo explorer, Ryzen 2600X and 1080ti.
And I'm also getting some bottlenecking, it's really annoying

It could be a cpu bottleneck, but be aware that AMD gpu does not give good performance in VR, compared to its Nvidia equivalent.

Just glanced at it, but ryzen looks okay with a 1080. (Not VR, but still)

How do you know the Ryzen is bottlenecking your system? Did you look at usage on Taskmanager?
More than likely it's your RX580 videocard that is the bottleneck. RX580 is about equal to GTX970 which IMHO is not enough for VR in PCars2.
    What line?

I also have a Ryzen (1700) and it ran just fine in VR with my 1080. I also think it is a GPU Bottleneck, not a CPU one.

Basicaly using the same principle of determining if a cpu is bottlenecking in 2d; lower everything gpu related, if gpu can't achieve 95%+ usage so we have a cpu bottleneck.

in vr lowering/turning off everything and set steamvr SS to 20% do the job of taking off the load from the gpu. With those settings, whenever i have more than 3 cars on screen at any track my fps will go anywhere from 45 to 70 fps, gpu never reaching even 55% usage.
Best example is the cpu rog azure circuit: custom race, 9 mixed opponents, 02:00 pm, me in a formula rookie: min fps 39, max 66, max gpu usage 43%.

using the assetto benchmark, at the start of the race i will get a good 45 fps that will start to increase as soon as other cars starts to fall behind, gpu always bellow 50% usage. (althoug thats expected considering ac relies on single threaded performance)

alone in the track is not bad, just racing.

To determine the actual bottleneck, you can't just say if GPU Usage is below X, it's a CPU bottleneck. Please have a tool measure the real usage of the CPU.

Daworstplaya is running a 2700x with a 2080 in VR and it's working great for him.

    I know a 2700x is stronger than a 1600, but a 2080 is A LOT stronger than 580.
