[PC] Old School Racing - check it out

    Old School Racing

Hi! Occasionally I've been hosting a server for the last couple of weeks, the idea is simple; retro and old cars without assists on equivalent tracks. We had some good fields and it seems to gather the core racers. Mixing the classes spicy things up.

I did try to set up a dedicated server but I ran into troubles on my current connection (good bandwidth but firewall issues) but will move next month and hoping to have a dedicated server established on that site. Till then, server will be up most evenings but as a P2P server. I try to police it the best I can and bring some race info to each session, it's fun just spectating the races as well.

Thought I'd say hi and bring it to everyone's attentions there's not just GT3 and LMP servers

Atm I switched "series" to the Nordschleife (combined) track that we'll be running the next few weeks.

putting a safety rating on your server improves it drastically

and also limits your playerbase, best to get the DS working with the API and have full control over it then you can allow anyone you want and monitor them, if you need a hand with the DS set up hit us up, you can get around the firewall issues fairly easy if you have access to your router settings.

my CSR races are known for being pretty clean because of the safety ratings. it's pretty stupid to not take advantage of a good system.

Thanks for the input. We were previously running at Le Mans and every now and then some maniac would cut all the chicanes and cause havoc. I increased the Safety Rating and it solved it, till someone with a high rating and sinister enough would spoil the show. It's easier on Nurburgring, cause they don't know how to drive that there's a balance I guess cause there are beginners out there who just like to learn and don't have enough rating. I try to see the good in most drivers.

Regarding the firewall we share it with other apartments and I wasn't allowed to access it, therefore it was bit more complicated then usual. I work with communications and will actually have access to the new connection today. I got the server running last time around with the GUI and all, think I found good settings in the .cfg but I'll drop you a message if needed!

We cranked up the difficulty a bit with rain and changeable conditions, should even the classes and field out. Good effort by folks trying to lap The Ring without assists.

Watch out for the puddles at Hatzenbects-Bogen on the GP track and at the bottom of Ex-Muhle

Found a good trade-off between Group 4, Group A, Vintage Touring A and B. They are fixed as of now. In the rain the Grp A catches the 4's in the twisty bits. Although the mighty 6.8 Merc 300 from the Vintage class should not be underestimated. As well as getting some optional eye candy on track. Make sure to pick a car with headlights for the dusk....

    Server is Euro based.
