When AI pits to change tyres?

    Hi,

I recently finished 4h endurance race at COTA circuit
I drove first half of the race, AI co-driver did second part
When there was under 20 minutes to finish, tyres were almost totally worn. I expected AI goes to pits at any time (and lose lead of the race), but he manage to drive till the end, even though rear tyres were totally black (even tiny green bar indicator disapeared on start of last lap).
I thought that he might even go to pits on last lap and pass finish line in pits, but fortunately he stayed on track.
    Here ia a video:

Is it implemented, that if there are few laps, AI stays?
Why he didn't lose more time per lap? Is tyre blown part of mechanical failures? (I have it disable)

yes, if there is like a couple of laps left the AI won't pit in the endurance races.

also AI pit on low fuel not tires. remember this.

you're not supposed to go into the light, you're supposed to drift around it.

Shouldn't AI be slower in my case? It was doing only 1-2s slower than on fresh tyres (or only little worn and with low fuel in tank)

AI don't use the players driving model, they get their own physics etc, this is why AI tires don't wear as fast as the players and why they're not effected by dirty air, and vehicle mechanical damage and much more things, one gripe I have with PCARS 2 is the AI. but hey hopefully PC3 or Automobilista 2 fixes these issues.

AI tyres do wear. Isn't that pretty clear from the first post? Doug Arnao (SMS AI guy) also confirms this in a PC1 thread

    http://forum.projectcarsgame.com/sho...wear-in-Career

Matching AI tyre wear to player tyre wear is of course an almost impossible task (whatever tyre physics the AI use) as it depends on driving style.

As to the effect on laptimes, I've not done any long GT3 races, but watching Jardier's streams the effect of worn tyres on the human player's laptimes seems to be no more than 1-2 seconds. Its difficult to be precise as in a race you have the combined effects of worn tyres, lower fuel level and track rubbering in, but there certainly isn't a major drop off in laptimes with worn tyres.

I might be wrong, so feel free to correct me, but I could've sworn I've read somewhere that the tire wear indicator is not indicative of 100% wear but somewhere around 50%?

Yes, that's true and actually the telemetry data that the game provides proves this. When the wear indicator shows half of the tire gone, telemetry data shows 25% tire wear.

If you use the RS Dash app you can choose whether to show full wear at 50% or 100% .

    Never!
    Ai has not tirewear.
