Intermittent black screen flash in all games

I am having an odd issue that I cannot figure out. Randomly, my screen will flash black for about 1 sec. No message saying loss of signal or anything. It is extremely random. Sometimes it will happen right after boot up at my desktop screen. Sometimes it will not happen for 30 mins. Sometimes it happens every 60 secs and sometimes not at all.

My PC is an i7 8700k with a 1080ti. I run an Alienware 34" Curved Gsync monitor. I have tried multiple different DP cables. Both DP ports on the GPU. It has done this on multiple Windows 10 updates and also multiple different Nvidia Firmwares. Any idea on how to figure out what is happening? It does not happen with in VR. Only when playing on my screen. It also happens in all games, some games that I do not play in Steam either.

Could there possibly be a firmware update available for your monitor? Could you ask Acer support as well?

Sounds like a bad monitor, may be test with a different monitor?

Did you check if the power cord is properly connected? You might have a slack joint there.

I checked on ALienwares site. I do not see any type of Firmware upgrade for the monitor.

Unfortunately, I do not have another monitor to test with

Checked the power cord, it is ok. Its not a loss of power as the monitor stays and backlighting stays on.

Tried a few things with no luck still.

    -Turned off GSync, still happens
-Turned off monitor overclock, still happens.
-Turned on FAST mode on monitor, Still happens.

I will test a few other things and report back. My Oculus is plugged in to my other DP port. I will unplug that to see if there are any changes. Im also going to try to turn off my GPU overclock.,

Yeah sounds like a monitor issue get in contact with vendor/dell to have it checked/replaced. especially if this isn't happening in VR which is kind of a monitor

If it only happened on bootup, I could live with it. The issue is it will happen during a race and it goes black for long enough it really messes up trying to drive.

It is starting to look that way. It does not happen in VR at all. I still have a few more things to try. The problem is, it is so intermittent that its hard to see if what I did had an affect.

Updating you guys. I fixed the issue. So after trying a THIRD cable, it is now working flawlessly. The 2 other ones that i had must have just been crap.

When I read your post inmmediatly thought in the cable but you told that tried with different ones. Most of the cheap, cables runs fine at 1080 or 4K 60hz, but at higher resolutions and refresh rates, the quality of the cables makes the difference. I think your monitor works at 3440 x 1440 @ 120hz and thats requires a higher bandwidth than 4K @ 60. Most of the cables you can buy (even the cheap ones), works at 4K 60hz, but with your setup you need more bandwith and a high quality cable to keep the link stable (probably DP 1.4 or 2.0)

    Nice to hear you solved.
