When I first heard about this I thought it wouldn't add much to a simple game like Mine craft. On second thought after watching this I must conclude that it really transforms the game.

Not that I play it much but still it is interesting.

Now... I do want to see Crysis RTX at some point.

I never have played MC and don't intend on it. But, the possibilities on other games.

Well, I got it waaaaay back in the beta days. It was something new after all.

I really do believe in the benefits of the RTX technologies. Just as I saw the benefits of other demanding things like Physx.

Sadly the fact that these technologies are brand specific doesn't make them desirable to implement for development studios, because of the overhead of time and money needed to do it as well as the fanboyism hate campaigns on any who implement brand specific technologies. So the negative news isn't desirable either.

Edit: Of course I know of DXR (DirectX Ray Tracing) but when you have the special hardware capabilities for it, you'd want to use it whenever possible.

Minecraft is awesome. My claim to fame among my kids is that I was one of the first to purchase it (before it had sold more than a few thousand copies), back when it was stupidly bare bones.

I got it also when it was still just bare bones and I ended up putting it aside because of the mobs that were introduced and you couldn't switch that off. I just liked the dig and build aspect of it.

Itís no more or less brand specific than DirectX support for any other GPU. Developers program for DXR (DLSS being an exception as itís specifically nVidia).

Not really convinced that RTX is what made the big difference. Minecraft gfx are made to look oldschool by design, if they wanted it better they could had done it already before, without RTX. PCARS2 did not need RTX in order to implement glowing, occlusion, glare, hat haze, smoke, water etc etc etc and neither did other games which have fantastic graphics. RTX might be giving a little more to it, but I think it hardly makes an important difference.

I think I said it before, but currently RTX graphically hardly improves on the current trickery in games that emulates proper ray tracing, while it costs dearly in performance. Still, it's the first stepping stone to getting proper real-time ray tracing on consumer PCs, so we need to accept it as it is now

I don't know if it's a subjetive perception, but the AA looks terrible in RTX mode, or may be it's disabled in this demo. Watch the edges of the golden boxes i.e.

No doubt that RTX is a great step forward, but probably we can't take advantage of it in some years. Same as Crysis when was launched 12 years ago and only 5 years later we got the technology to play it in high detail graphics.
