    Time Trial statistics

One benefit of developing a time trial leaderboard project is that you get a lot of data to play with. I was playing around with Googles chart stuff, and displayed the Time Trials done per day. There is of course a drop off over time, but less than I expected.

First column Year-Month, second nr of time trials (on PC):
    HTML Code:
    2017-09 28451
    2017-10 54252
    2017-11 34502
    2017-12 36378
    2018-01 33819
    2018-02 31752
    2018-03 36642
    2018-04 31687
    2018-05 30314
    2018-06 33865
    2018-07 28443
    2018-08 25289
    2018-09 28879
    2018-10 26552
    2018-11 25819
    2018-12 27951
    2019-01 31733
    2019-02 26742
    2019-03 27703
    2019-04 25086
    2019-05 27777
    2019-06 22827
    2019-07 21992
    2019-08 18571
    2019-09 7240

Very nice! Just one comment, decrease in time trial laps logged does not necessarily mean less laps attempted...The better times one can manage, the more further attempts it takes him to better them and log new ones later...

    cpcdem, that's true.

Added a handful of line charts over WR progression in different combos, just for fun: https://projectcalc.org/stats.php

Liked the WR graphs so much that I implemented them sitewide. You need to have a car selected, not just a class. Then click Show WR graph-button at the bottom.
I haven't tested all combos so if anyone finds a bug, let me know.

    Very nice!

I do see a bug though, when people change their Steam names, see for example Algarve with the Corvette GTE:

    https://projectcalc.org/index.php?tr...ct=AllTopTimes

and compare it with the game data:

    http://cars2-stats-steam.wmdportal.c...cle=3910923019

As you can see, the 10th time in your data does not exist in the real data. That guy that did that 10th time in yours (Luís Ha1000tom) has later change their name and is now in 4th (Dimitri Matos). But I assume you read the new data every day and merge it with the already existing one, you are not clearing and adding from scratch, right?

Yes, I am aware of that issue. Hard to solve though. I'm not locking player names to a steam id or similar, maybe that would be possible. If only people would stop changing names
Since this is cross-platform, it could be possible for players on different platforms to have the same name. So there are some issues, I would maybe need to rebuild it if I come up with a better solution. Btw in my leaderboard, 'Matos Dimitri' is 4th. Maybe he changed his name again to 'Dimitri Matos' but the db won't accept an entry with exact same track, vehicle, laptime, sector1, sector2, sector3 times, to avoid duplicate entries whenever someone changes player name.

As I've said before, I'm new to this, and there might very well be a smarter way to do it. If so, I'm all ears.

And yes, I merge new data. That makes it possible to follow WR fights such as this:

    Interesting...

From your data there are 254 tracks and 240 vehicles, so 36960 diferrent leaderboards.

Would be nice to know some statistics per player. In example a list with sorted players by:

    - More fastest lap times
    - More places in first 10 places
    - More apperances in the leaderboards

Asturbo, yes, that's the kind of stats I'll try to display. Just have to find the time to do it, and learn how to do it But as cpcdem highlighted, it will not be 100% correct, because people change names. Most of the usual suspects have kept their names though, afaik. But cpcdem for example was '[TCSR] cpcdem' for a while, I think?

When PC3 comes, I should probably redo it all, to stop issues like that. But remember that I started this to get some kind of working leaderboard as a console player, and I knew next to nothing about php python and mysql. So I've learned a lot, but there's still plenty to learn of course. It's fun to think of new ways to use the data, so I really appreciate the suggestions!

I change my steam name all the time, depending on with which club I am racing each time

So about merging data, you mean that you include the whole history of each combo, you just show in the leaderboard only the first entry of each player, right? Would had indeed been extremely interesting if you had all this data from the day of the game release! About player names, I agree, there is not a 100% "correct" method to do it, the way you want it to work. But then again it is not a serious problem.

Btw, are you aware of the other portal for leaderboards that a lot of people have been using as well?(will not link it in your thread, unless you want me to). You guys are doing similar (very helpful!) things twice, maybe it would be better to join forces instead...
