    PCars won't start

    Hi,

I am taking a break from Pcars2 and decided to try Pcars1 again for a change.

It wont start....I keep getting errors messages. I'll attach it below.

What I did to try to get it to work was things previous threads have said to try.

Uninstalled/re-installed. verified integrity, added exceptions to the Pcars doc folder and the game file itself in steam.

Oh...after verifying the game files, Steam downloaded approx 18GB of files. Afterwards, I got as far as entering a race from the career mode and the above error appeared. I wish I would have taken a pic of the errors before verifying the files - this one looks different

    Any suggestions?

    thanks

Try disabling your antivirus software and unpluging any controler device to see if it starts.

Also has been reported that installing in a drive unit different to C, you could get some error.

And after disabling your AV (which one are you using by the way?), also do a game files cache integrity verification in Steam to fix any file corruption that may have occurred.

I'm betting 10 internet cookies that the OP is using Bitdefender.

    Try this:

Sorry, I'm not using bitdefender. I use Malwarebytes along with the standard windows defender. Also, I have Steam installed on a different drive than C, but this hasn't been an issue before when running this game.

I did verify the files, and a 18 GB download soon followed. After the download, I received that error above. Is there a difference between verifying the integrity of the game files and verifying the integrity of game cache files?

    Thank you

And make sure to verify integrity of files AFTER adding exceptions to your AV software.

I excepted the whole folder. I also ran the validating the program, and it had to download 18 GB of files again. Strange...it did the same thing yesterday.

After the exception, I also added Pcars.exe and Pcars64.exe through Controlled folder Access ???. I verified, downloaded 18 Gb. and tried Pcars.....And do you know what? IT WORKED!!

Thank you for your help! And after playing Pcars2 for so long, the original feels weird - in a good way.

I had been trying to remember what the other built in windows defender thing was called that can cause issues... I'll stop looking now
