Yeah, uhm... I don't know what they were thinking at Fanatec HQ but this is beyond a premium product. This is just a luxury item at this point I am afraid to say, and in a niche market I personally find it inappropriate to put such item to market.

I in the mean time polished up my CSWv2 hub with metal polish and a Dremel so that my wheel slides on easier. It had a lot of wear from the past years... A LOT OF WEAR. To the point where there was so much metal shavings between the wheel and hub that they after a heavy rumble strip session would end up friction welding the quick release in little spots. I'm glad I still got it off!
Do you use the locking screw? I have no wear of metal shavings and I do lots (too much) sim racing at high FFB levels!

I stupidly used a thin layer of grease to lube my QR for litteraly years. Since 2013 when I was still alpha/beta testing the Clubsport line and my QR was very tight. Worked fine for years but the the balls wear out the color anodized piece that you grab with your hands to unlock it, this tends to rotate and vibrate a bit when hitting the curbs and so on (anything with high frequency vibration of good strength). Since the metal... and this is metal dust more than anything else... got trapped inside the grease, over time the grease would turn from a lube into a metal polish and it started to cause a lot of issues. Just not over night but many many years.

I had cleaned the grease all out and sanded off the issue spots and then polished it smooth again. Now it works fine again... at least that was until just a moment ago as my Formula rim's QR pin snapped off. :dejected:

So yeah... already send a message to Fanatec support. First true failure I had ever since I had this wheel apart from the rubber coating going off on me. Kinda gutted to be honest as I had truly countless hours on this wheel and it's the 7th Formula rim Fanatec ever produced.
For now I'll have to wait and see what my options are.

    - Repair by Fanatec (and I know where it's going for repairs in the Netherlands and I know it'll be in good hands)
    - Repair it myself
    - Go for something new... possibly a DD1 PS4 or a DD2 + Formula v2 with maybe a bit of a discount if they are kind. Or just grab me a Formula v2 and save the DD upgrade for later, which also means I can't continue with the FFB v2 file I was working on as I need a better wheel to dial certain things in.

Are there any guys here who have a DD and play ETS2/ATS with the accurate 1800 degrees steering lock?

If you do I was just wondering how that 1800 (5 turns) degrees of lock was whilst playing these games? Does it feel for more realistic and how is the simple FFB in this game handling that?

So sorry to hear of your loss. I bet it feels kind of like losing a close friend.

Hmmm, more like having to part ways with your first car which you had for many years.
In my case my first car was a Lancia Delta HPE (the model after the famous one). So it's that first bit of awesome kit that just came to its end.

Let's see what can be done, but I fear it might not be economical to repair.
For now I am split between a few choices and am contemplating what the best course of action is in terms of finances.
Still have a couple of things to settle besides this as well.

    1. Some car repairs need to be done at some point in the near future... brake hose replacement being one.
    2. My phone is in need of replacement
    3. My 2600k is starting to show its age with modern games. Yet I am still not convinced if the current generation processors and those soon to be released of both camps is a good pick either. At least not for building another PC for a small decade, which really brings down value for money when looking at the running costs of these hardware components on an annual basis.
    4. I really need to go DD for improved support for my force feedback files, but with the above also in mind it is a toss up on what to do first.
    5. No matter what I need a formula rim again in my life. You just don't know how much you use it until it's gone.
