Worth getting PS4 Pro over PS4

My budget doesn’t allow a High End Gaming PC with Tripple screens and an Alu Rig so is it worth getting the PS4 Pro at this point second hand over the PS4 I have now? I have a regular 32” TV so as far as monitors go I would also want to upgrade that to a wide screen or 4K monitor.

You are probably right. I was under the impression the release date for the PS5 was end 2020 but it is sooner.

    Oh really?
I thought it was end of the year.
Not bad news. But I don't see myself getting it until maybe next year. I'm rebuilding my car.

I was wrong: the presentation was Holyday 2020. No mention of a release date...

Holding out for a PS5 at this point rather depends on what you play. The only PS5 specific racing game announced so far is GT7. No news yet on whether a port to allow ACC or PC3 to run on the PS5 is in the works, and what if any extra capabilities running it on that allows.

So all very much in the air.

Cross grading to a Pro makes a fair bit of sense, allowing you to concentrate on a better display (I doubt you’ll need an ultrawide though... I haven’t read anywhere that PS5 will support them) in 4K and low latency. Then when you go PS5 you will have a monitor that will do it justice.

PS4 pro in 4K on PC2 is great. I have a 60” 4K and sit close enough that my FOV is wider than most can manage realistically on say a 32”. I rather doubt we are going to see a PC4 for PS5 for a year or two at the least (and SMS usually take three years, but the PS5 game may be more of a port than a new game) so holding out for the PS5 may not pan out that well for you in the short term. If you can get a Pro without blowing your monitor budget, I’d say go for it!

Main sellingpoint for the Pro now would be the 4K resolution. Been googling for a 43” 4K TV for € 479 (Samsung). With 70 cm viewingdistance the FOV would be great. The Pro would set me back € 280 second hand. I can still manage with my 32” TV but all I see is either only the nose or the windscreen.

The PS5 supports 4K TV or 8K monitor.

I sold my PS4 and got a pro. It wasn't massively better, but it was noticeably better, so if you can do it for not too much cash I'd say go for it. I run mine on a 32" TV too.

Get the biggest TV you can afford is my advice. I have a 58inch and i love it.
Pcars2 won't run in 4k, more like 1600p on hi res graphics setting and 1400p for hi quality.
Xboxx, 58 inch TV, real fov 75, Sim Labs GT1 evo rig, Fanatec DD2, Shifter, v3 pedals, Mclaren Gt3 rim, Sparco Grid q seat.
