It's both actually. I either game and sim in VR or (try to)4k, but with 4k I end up turning down options as well with eventually leads to me lowering resolution. Because I don't want my lighting and other graphics to suffer. So even if I didn't have VR, I'm aching to buy a 100% 4k proof(raytracing) card.

The 1080ti still is a beast for it's age though.

In a generation or two, 4k will probably be easy/affordable though. 8k is much farther off from being easy to run, and VR is the most likely market for that.

Well, 4k@120Hz will be my new goal(because the TV supports it) so I think I'll be working my new card pretty on-edge already. Yes there are debates of emotion vs rationale in my head as we speak considering the choice of the new card. That 15 or something percent doesn't sound like much, but it might just be what I 'need'.

I think HP took a bit of a gamble with the Reverb G1, but they must have done pretty well with it to make it worthwhile to make the G2. They seem to be quite pleased with demand for the G2

I remember posts on Reddit from HP employee Voodooimax when the G1 came out that suggested the G2 was by no means guaranteed to follow, so it's very encouraging to see it doing well. I think HP expected the G1 to be more of a business item, but sim gamers embraced it enthusiastically.

I'd love to see triples being tested won't happen though, I wonder if more play in VR or triples?

My guess is that triples are more common with race simmers and VR is more popular with flight simmers, but it's just a hunch.

a good tripple including the stand is about 3 times the price of a VR set and also you need very much space for it.
So i think there are much more VR sim racers out there than tripple users.
Every car could be a race car, as long as you have the balls to drive it like that !

$1600 ish for 27" triples 165Hz with stand (80/20) Probably not the best monitors but not bad for $400 each

How much is a new HMD? Is a HMD really only $530?

I like both. Immersion wise VR of course. It is bloody awesome. No triple setup can replace that. But I rather play a whole day without a VR set on my head. So for short sessions and immersion VR for me. For longer sessions it will be my triple setup.

Flight sims are not great in VR due to the distance, most flight simmers I see are triple screen users, think there would be more racers in VR but not more than triples.
