Hi all,

Great news, PC Patch 3 is going live now! :) Here are the final release notes...

Project CARS – PC Patch 3.0 – Release Notes

LEADERBOARDS RESET
Please be aware that, as a result of the enhanced cut-track detection system included in Patch 3.0, all Time Trial leaderboards will be reset over the course of the next 12 hours. This is to clear out leaderboard times that were set under the old cut-track detection system where players could get away with driving off-track and gain time by doing so. The new system is far fairer and much more accurate. By resetting the leaderboards we remove all these 'contaminated' records and ensure that everyone has a fair shot at setting true and accurate Time Trial leaderboard entries.

New & Enhanced Feature Summary
* New – Friends Leaderboards – players can now toggle between viewing ‘ALL’ and ‘FRIENDS ONLY’ on the leaderboards screen.
* New – Multiplayer Spectate Mode – players can now choose to ‘Retire to Pit Box’ during a race, and then spectate the ongoing race.
* Enhanced MP vehicle grouping – online races now use real-world vehicle classes. This results in far better vehicle performance matching for online races.
* Enhanced Setup and Pit Strategy system – players are now provided with information regarding current and upcoming weather, remaining session duration, current track temperatures, and more.
* Enhanced HUD and Telemetry tyre info system – players can now see in real time which tyre compounds they are currently using, what each tyre’s pressure is, and how much each tyre is worn.
* Enhanced Cut Track detection system – the system used to detect cut tracks is now far more accurate and 'fair'.
* DLC Career Contract support – the game now supports the addition of career contracts for new DLC vehicles so that players can use applicable cars in their core career series.
* Enhanced Replay system – players can now access Photo Mode from within a replay, and can switch between cars during a replay.
* New – Force Feedback – implemented the ability via menu sliders for the user to manually tweak the menu spring strength, stationary / low speed spring strength, and overall steering gain.
* New – the Force Feedback Calibration screen now features a multiple force feedback profile selection system whereby the user can select a base FFB style that suits personal preference, and then tweak it further as desired.
* Enhanced Weather system – all vehicles are updated with new window rain effects, featuring dynamic rivulets, much more realistic looking water drops, and wiper blade trail effects.

Online
* New – Friends Leaderboards – players can now toggle between viewing ‘ALL’ and ‘FRIENDS ONLY’ on the leaderboards screen.
* New – Multiplayer Spectate Mode – players can now choose to ‘Retire to Pit Box’ during a race, and then spectate the ongoing race using the ‘Retire to pits’ and ‘Spectate’ options (note that this is currently only available on tracks that feature a pit lane).
* Enhanced vehicle grouping – online races now use real-world vehicle classes. This results in far better vehicle performance matching for online races.
* Implemented support for Leaderboards reset across all platforms.
* Added support for Multiplayer Quick Random to also join in-progress sessions
* Fixed an issue where the Drive button would remain permanently locked when joining an in-progress session.
* Fixed an issue where, when the player progressed from qualifying to the start of the race, the player’s car would sometimes begin moving without player, resulting in false jump-starts.
* Fixed an issue where using the ‘Amateur’ skill filter would at times not show any lobbies.
* Fixed the case where changing the time of day from daytime to night-time in a lobby failed to switch the skill level from NOVICE to AMATEUR.

Time Trial
* Fixed an issue where restarting a Time Trial session would not remove the ‘best of session’ ghost from before the restart.
* Force Time Trial weather on consoles to always be set to Light Cloud to match PC settings.
* Ghost split and lap times are now displayed on timings/pause screen.
* Updated the in-game timings board to provide a visible distinction between the ghosts and the player’s entries: all ghosts now have status set to ‘Ghost’, and the Session best ghost has DRIVER text set to ‘Session Best’

Pitting, Tuning, Setups, Strategy
* Enhanced Setup and Pit Strategy system:
- Players are now provided with information regarding current and upcoming weather, remaining session duration, and current track temperatures.
- In Setup, players can choose to apply different compounds to the front and rear sets. In Pit Strategy, players can now choose to change tyres symmetrically instead of configuring each wheel individually.
- The Setup and Pit Strategy screens will now display an estimation of how many laps the player can expect to run with the current fuel load, and updates in real time as the player adjusts the fuel slider.
- Players can now define pit strategies with less fuel than the initial fuel load. During a race, the fuel slider indicator will turn red to warn players when the strategy offers insufficient fuel for the remainder of the race.
* Enhanced HUD and Telemetry tyre info system:
- Players can now see in real time which tyre compounds they are currently using, what each tyre’s pressure is, and how much each tyre is worn. Each individual wheel’s tyre graphic will fade out from top to bottom to indicate the level of wear. The tyre temperature display on the HUD now uses a smooth colour gradient fade to more accurately indicate temperature changes and match the display on the Telemetry screen
* Fixed an issue where damaged headlights would not get repaired if the player had damage level set to ‘Visual Damage Only’.
* Fixed more cases where a vehicle’s default setup would not be correctly applied.
* Reworked the naming of several tyre compounds to make the names more indicative of their purpose, and to ensure that front and rear compound names match when set to the same compound.
* Restrict pit strategy tyre compound types to only those available for the current vehicle.
* Accessing Pit Strategy in single player during non-race sessions no longer pauses the game.
* Tweaks to AI pit logic to ensure they pit in proper mandatory window in races that feature a mandatory pitstop.
* Fixed an issue that at times caused a setup from one car to be applied to a different car.
* Ensure that the Default pitstop strategy is set to the Active one on each session start, to prevent issues with previously configured and now irrelevant strategies being active.
* Fixed an issue where, if you customized a setup that was automatically loaded from your saved setups, and then drive and return to pits, the customized setup would be lost and your setup will be reset to the previously saved setup.
* Fixed an issue in online races where the pit crew would ignore any changes made to the pit strategy once the player’s car was stationary in the pit box.

Physics & AI
* Improved AI rain speed realism when using treaded tyres in the wet.
* Fixed an issue where, if a player has steering assist on and fuel use set to real, when low on fuel, the steering assist will pull them into the pits as they go past
* Increase tyre wear for AI if driving wet tyres when track is drying or dry.
* Improved AI behaviour during crash recovery to further minimize the chances of AI cars getting stuck.
* Fixed an issue that would cause a car to leave the pits with no visible wheel attached after pitting to replace a lost wheel.
* Various tweaks and improvements to how AI responds to tyre wear in regards to pitting strategies.
* Fixed the issue with cold and current tyre pressure mismatches in pitstop strategy, as well as cold pressure not being correctly applied in the tyre system.
* Fixed an issue with the player vehicle rolling backwards after entering pre-race tuning.
* Fixed an issue where AI drivers would remain stuck in their pit boxes when using accelerated time.

Cut Track / Off Track System
* Enhanced Cut Track detection system – the system used to detect cut tracks is now far more accurate and 'fair'. Many tracks were reworked to address specific issues where the cut track detection was either too loose or too strict. Players will no longer receive warnings for driving off track in the grass and other surfaces when not actually gaining time by doing so. The new system provides for scalability in strictness across game modes, to match real life application. The rules enforcement gets progressively stricter from Free Practice to Race to Time Trial.

Career
* DLC Career Contract support – the game now supports the addition of career contracts for new DLC vehicles so that players can use applicable cars in their core career series.
* Added Career Contracts for core career sport DLC cars:
- GT3: Bentley Continental GT3
- LMP1: Audi R18 e-tron quattro
* Career Invitationals – corrected Russian translation in two Invitational unlock descriptions.
* Fixed an issue with pre-DLC save games not unlocking DLC career content.

Audio
* Fixed tyre skid sound when car is sitting against a kerb at zero speed.
* Tweaked the dirt surface sounds.
* Fixed an issue where there would sometimes be missing race audio in a subsequent race if there's an immediate quit at race start.

GUI, HUD, Telemetry
* GUI – sliders throughout the game interface now supports smaller increments and decrements when changing their associated values.
* Monitor/Spectate screen – the timings table now supports mouse clicks to change the driver that’s being observed. The screen now features the ability to view the selected driver’s info when playing online, by clicking on the new Gamercard button. Fixed several cases where the map would at times randomly freeze and/or be locked on the screen when telemetry overlay is displayed.
* When browsing Leaderboards, changing the car and track being browsed will no longer change the player’s currently selected car and track in the other game modes.
* Reworked the Replay/Spectate/Monitor interface to a more consistent design.
* Main game loading screens – fixed the Road America track logo that went missing, updated the Logitech logo to the new Logitech G logo, updated the Oculus logo to their new logo.
* Driver Network Profile – practice and qualifying sessions will no longer count towards races entered.
* Community Events – added a 'DLC required' indicator to events that require DLC content, added an event number indicator.
* Career post-race podium screen – fixed Lap times formatting to use the more logical MMSSTTT formatting (e.g. 01:20.457).
* HUD now reports correct split times to vehicles that are in the pits.
* Updated the Class logos used by Road cars to better differentiate the various road car classes.
* Fixed an issue with the Field of View slider not working.
* Fixed an issue where Cut Track warning messages appeared in the centre of the screen instead of to the side, out of the player’s line of sight.

Replays
* Enhanced Replay system – players can now access Photo Mode from within a replay, and can switch between cars during a replay.
* Replay Cameras – Azure Circuit – reworked the draw distance and positioning of a number of cameras to fix background issues and views being obstructed by trackside objects.
* Replay Cameras – Hockenheim National – improved the positioning of a number of cameras to fix views being obstructed by trackside objects.
* Fixed a crash that occurred when the player loaded a replay that was saved with an older version of the game.

Controls & FFB
New – implemented the ability via menu sliders for the user to manually tweak the menu spring strength, stationary / low speed spring strength, and overall steering gain:
Menu Spring – the strength of the wheel centering spring in the front end and in-game pause menu.
Low Speed Spring Coefficient & Saturation – the weight of the steering at slow speeds (<10mph) and when the car is stationary. The saturation is the maximum force for the spring and the coefficient is how quickly the spring takes effect. To avoid "cogging / notching" effects when stationary its best to leave the spring coefficient high and lower the saturation.
Steering Gain – the gain (multiplier) applied to all steering effects (steering force, jolts, kerb rumble etc) after they have been mixed. For a clean more detailed experience set at 1.0 or below, for stronger feedback at the expense of clipping set higher (maximum value 5).

New – the Force Feedback Calibration screen now features a multiple force feedback profile selection system whereby the user can select a base FFB style that suits personal preference, and then tweak it further as desired. You can now switch between current FFB settings (Default) and pre-1.4 (classic) by using the FFB Calibration presets. These presets are available under Options > Controls > Calibrate Force Feedback. The presets are set on top of this page and the new sliders to control the spring/steering effect are at the bottom. Whenever you change these values it becomes a custom preset. You can switch back to either Default or Classic by selecting them at the top of this page.

Fixed:
* Fanatec – added accelerator slip vibration support for Fanatec wheel rims that support this feature. Added accelerator pedal rumble support for the ClubSport Pedals V3, and fixed brake rumble not working.
* Logitech wheels – added LED support for the G29.
* Custom wheels – reduced the default menu spring strength.
* Fixed an issue where the in-game menu spring centered the wheel when pausing while driving, which was jarring when both entering and exiting.
* Handbrake and boost controls assignments are now no longer mandatory.
* Fixed an issue where mouse controls were producing a deadzone in the centre regardless of deadzone settings.
* Fixed an issue where there was a sudden loss of FFB after a severe collision.

Vehicles
* 125cc and 250cc karts – adjusted automatic gearbox algorithm for better shifting. This reduces the occurrence of the rapid fire downshifts from 6th to 1st when locking the rear brakes.
* Audi R18 e-tron quattro – added the missing gear readout to cockpit display. Fixed ‘quattro’ to lower case in the showroom (licensing).
* Aston Martin Vantage GT3 – fixed the impact test position for the rear centre brake light, to ensure accurate impact damage effects on the light.
* Bentley Continental GT3 – fixed slight asymmetry in rear suspension design which was causing some unintentional cross weight.
* BMW M3 GT – set to use same tyre widths as the other GT3 cars. This helps equalize performance and acts to level the playing field, as this car would have used such tyre sizes if it ran beyond 2012 against the rest of the GT3 cars.
* BMW V12 LMR – fixed engine lifetime numbers to match other similar cars.
* Group 5 cars and BMW M1 – tweaked rain tyres heat and sensitivities to prevent them from overheating in light rain.
* Escort MK1 and DLC BMW 2002 Turbo – rebalanced the AI performance.
* Formula A -– added a new tyre set that includes two slick tyres: ‘Soft’ and ‘Medium’. Rebalanced the heating and wear across all four tyre sets. Reworked tyre wear to more closely match real world Formula 1 cars. Heating is now more even front to rear. Further rebalancing of the AI speed (now faster) as was required, and tweaks to the base setup to accommodate the heat change and its effect on the balance. The medium slicks make consistent grip between 180-220F, making this compound more useful as a strategic, lower wear choice. The soft slicks are the default dry tyre.
* Formula C – dropped the AI ability in the rain a bit more for this car, as the AI was still too fast in the rain.
* Lotus 98T – new setup to help handle the power better, new rain tyre tweaks for better heating. Some change for the slick heating and inflation pressure sensitivity of the carcass.
* McLaren MP4 12C – adjusted the default setup to match the change to stiffer tyres.
* McLaren P1 – stiffened up the default suspension to help prevent bottoming out at tracks like Nordschliefe. Changed tyre walls to Pirelli (licensing).
* McLaren F1 GTR – added suspension animations to limit front wheel movement in order to stop them clipping through the bodywork on large compressions.
* Pagani Huayra – corrected the default dry and wet tyres so that the correct tyre is selected when using ‘Automatic by Weather’.
* Radical SR3 and SR8 – reduced the backlight on the gear LCD in the cockpit to make it easier to read at night.
* Renault Clio Cup – updated suspension tuning and gear ratios to match exactly with correct reference data for the X98CUP Mk.4 car.
* RWD P20 LMP2 – recalibrated oil and water temperature warning lights to turn on when the engine is starting to overheat.
* Various DLC Vehicles – rebalanced the in-cockpit exposure levels.
* Various cars – recalibrated the tyre deformation effect. This fixes many cars which were seeing too little or reversed lateral tyre deformations.
* Various cars – graphical issues addressed – Mercedes C-Coupe DTM, Sauber C9, Audi 90, Audi R8 LMS Ultra, Audi R18, Audi R18 e-tron, Aston Martin Rapide, BAC Mono, Bentley Continental GT3, Bentley Speed 8, BMW 1M, BMW Z4 GT3, BMW 320 Group5, BMW M3 E30 GroupA, Caterham Classic, Caterham SP300R, Ford Capri Group5, Ford MkIV, Formula C, Formula A, Ginetta G55 GT4, McLaren F1, Ruf RGT8 GT3, Ruf RGT8.
* Various cars – updated to use the correct tread textures for various tyre compounds
* Modern street cars – new stiffer tyres for improved drivability, to more closely match the real world experience. This makes these cars more fun and engaging to drive. Made tweaks to the individual setups of the FWD and most Supercars to accommodate the change.
* 4WD/hybrid vehicles – enabled visual backfires.

Tracks
* Azure Circuit – reset the AI track grip for the faster Formula A cars, and tweaked the driving lines to help with AI getting stuck in barriers.
* Bathurst – fixed an issue where cars would collide against invisible objects in the pit lane, and fixed an issue with black shapes appearing in the rear view mirrors on some parts of the track.
* California Highway – reworked the allowable driving surfaces in the final section on the double lane highway to allow the player to drive on both sides.
* Dubai layouts – fixed a graphical anomaly on the track surface.
* Glencairn East – fixed a false cut track warning that would trigger while driving on-track.
* Nordschliefe – fixed an issue where AI attempting to leave their pit spots was being blocked by cars in the pit spot directly in front of them.
* Ruapuna layouts – improved the texture quality on the distant trees, and reworked the wire mesh on the marshal posts to prevent them from turning opaque at a distance.
* Sakitto GP – unblocked pit lane and added pit lane directional signage.
* Sakitto International – fixed an issue where the AI would run too wide and collide with the barrier in the downhill left handed sweeper.
* Silverstone layouts – fixed a false cut track warning at the pit entrance.
* Snetterton 200 – fixed an issue where the player would receive a cut track warning when entering the pits’
* Spa Francorchamps – fixed an issue where a number of bollards marking track limits had stopped appearing.
* Watkins Glen layouts – fixed an issue where the pit entry would trigger if a player drove very close to the pit wall on the main straight, and fixed a few graphical pop-up issues.
* Various tracks – Imola, Oschersleben GP, Oschersleben C course – cut track detection adjustments.

Oculus Rift
* Implemented support for Oculus 0.6.0.1 SDK.
* Added support for a separate Graphics profile “GraphicsConfigOculusDX11.xml” when running with the Oculus Rift. This means that you can now set your graphic details to high/max when playing without the Rift, and turn the details down for optimum performance when using the Rift and the game will maintain both configurations and apply the applicable one automatically.
* Auto disabled Crepuscular rays, Vignette and full screen raindrops.
* Fixed excessive object pop-in in Oculus Rift mode that was caused by the modified field of view used in VR.
* Shadow support – further work towards getting shadow support fully implemented.
* Fixed SLI/XFire windowed mode performance issues – SLI/XFire isn't available in windowed mode, but several Renderer paths were still active, resulting in reduced performance, most notably for Oculus Rift which fakes a windowed mode.
* Added a command-line option "-vrnomirror" that disables the desktop mirror. This will gain around 3-4% performance.
* Fixed the issue where non cockpit view cameras were not incorporating the head-pose position correctly, which caused the camera to be spawned very low down.
* Fixed the issue where the view in the Oculus Rift froze when returning to the main menu after a race.
* Fixed the issue where using FXAA caused black/opaque rendering when using Oculus Rift.

General
* Players are no longer disqualified for running out of fuel after finishing the race.
* Fixed an issue that would award players with a race win when skipping session after a false start.
* Fixed an issue with 24Hz 4k Monitor modes causing the graphics code to fail to load.
* Added support to enable Opponent Car Reflections by using the “-insane” command-line option.
* Jumpstart tolerances adjusted to make the penalty more realistic when the player starts moving his vehicle before the green lights.
* Fixed an issue that caused vehicle windows to appear invisible in the player’s rear view mirrors.
* Fixed an issue with Real-time weather not working.

Dedicated Server
* Dedicated servers are now joinable from the Multiplayer Browser, even when nobody is playing on the servers.
* The ping icon on the Multiplayer Browser now also shows the type of the session:
- The standard "signal strength" icon - peer to peer session
- A server icon - dedicated server session controlled by players. If the server is empty, the first player to join becomes the session's host and can control the server.
- A server icon with a lock - dedicated server session controlled by the server. The game's settings are fully controlled by the server. This can be fixed settings shown in the browser, or scripted in a more complex way via the server's API.

The browser filter does not apply to empty servers yet, so all empty available servers will show at the end of the list. Filtering will be implemented in a future patch.

ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT. BUT PLZ NOTICE THAT THE REMAPPING FOR KERS BUTTON HAS ISSUES UNDER CLASSIC MODE OF XBOX ONE CONTROLLING ON PC. THX!!!
Another issue is that switching between 'Tracks' and 'Cars' leads to switching between different records on the leaderboard. When pressing A button it seems to open the steam screen and car/track selection simutaneously.

Pretty satisfied with the new rain effect.

Wow, 2.1GB is huge for a bugfix?
Is that hidden DLC content or remodeled tracks because of cut detection?
Or did you sneak in some pit crews:p?

Hmmm....
1) Opponent names not fixed.
2) Still no host/kick option.
3) If no qualifying session set, order should be random, which it is not. Not fixed or mentioned.
4) Where's the car set ups saving as originally planned?
5) Real weather?
6) Chat macros?
7) Cars being removed from track if sitting too long or going backwards?

Sure, there's more I'd like to see. More lobby options, Ovals, IROC races, etc.
But let's get the basics done first!

And yes, it's a good patch, and will enjoy some of what's been fixed or added but, come tonight, it will still be the same thing as usual.
Anyone able to read who that was? Cars driving backwards. Cars sitting on the track. Not being able to boot someone, etc.
But now I can have a great video of idiots wrecking people, instead of being able to boot them. Where's the priority?

You're going to not like this answer I think:) PC only, increase in graphics setting for very top end PCs. On the PC launch option you can add command line entries, like -skipcrowds, to turn the crowds off -dx11mt to turn on multi thread directx, etc.

It's absolutely relevant to the post. Hense, 3.0 patch notes, and some of these things were mentioned as coming out in 3.0.
And these are not pet wants, they are common on the boards.

Sorry, must have been a misread, I would have bet my goldfishes life on your profile saying you were xbox1.

If you're on PC it's dead easy,

Open steam, then right click on the game and select properties, then choose launch options and add the command -insane

If you haven't already done it I would also try adding, with a space between each command -dx11mt -pthreads 4

So the full line will look like this;
-pthreads 4 -dx11mt -insane

your goldfish is safe,it said xbox 1,i just switched over from xbox to PC hahaha, thanks for the tips, what does pthreads 4 do and can my pc handle that?

Haha, lol, Goldie says thanks:)

pthreads allocates up to 4 of your cores to run physics threads, default is 1, it makes quite a big performance difference and helps to reduce CPU bottlenecks, as does dx11mt.

Your processor is well up to that, although you need to overclock it more :) Mine got up to 5GHZ pretty easily and ran 4.9 100% stable.

Confused..

How is this new, it been ingame for awhile now, or was some of it not working?

1) Be 50+ years old.
2) Drive pCARS non-stop for 3+ hours.
3) Experience 'back lock' on attempting to alight from your GT Omega rig.
4) Crawl on all fours to the kitchen to obtain your bottle of ibuprofen.

Everyone posts their desires and wishes on these forums, and even in these threads when asked not too.
I posted something relative to 3.0, kept it short and to the point, and you attack and condescend.
Was it that important for you to comment? You can't read something and let it go? Does it make you feel better about yourself to try to put down others?
I am respectful to everyone, never attack anyone, am to the point, don't troll, and then I get a post like that from you?
I thought with all those blips under your name, meant you were a forum monitor. I don't spend much time in forums, so I wouldn't know, and don't really care.
But I think it really means you have a lot of posts on here. That makes more sense, because it seems you have the need to comment on everyone and everything.
Isn't that the definition of a troll?

3) If no qualifying session set, order should be random, which it is not. Not fixed or mentioned.
4) Where's the car set ups saving as originally planned?

7) Cars being removed from track if sitting too long or going backwards?

Sure, there's more I'd like to see. More lobby options, Ovals, IROC races, etc.
But let's get the basics done first!

And yes, it's a good patch, and will enjoy some of what's been fixed or added but, come tonight, it will still be the same thing as usual.
Anyone able to read who that was? Cars driving backwards. Cars sitting on the track. Not being able to boot someone, etc.

Real weather DOES WORK, I've literally just had an awesome Quick Race Weekend 5 lap Formula A race at Spa using this feature and 30x weather progression against 19 AI, on/off rain with varying cloud cover inbetween and AI pitting at different points. :D

First of all, I really appreciate all the effort being put in patching cars. But I can't understand why it is still impossible to use a gamepad and a wheel simultaneously. Thats a freckin big pain in the ass. Also I can not understand how I can be the only one, who got an issue with that. Everytime I just wanna take a quick ride I have to change all controller settings and when I want to drive longer sessions with my wheel I have to change all the setting again! That can't be true SMS. Why there isn't a simple feature where u can save controller settings for each device. That can't be that hard! In my opinion its the most important thing to patch guys.

I tried replicating it but couldnt see anything wrong. Didn't try DLC cars though. Btw, free practice and quick race can have different cars selected as the current car.

[FIXED NOW]

Strange, my G29 is no longer recognized nor does it work in the game anymore......tried everything so far. Gaming software sees it just fine, but I cannot calibrate it. Race starts and it's unresponsive. Anyone else seeing this?

OK, it works now. I had to change my control scheme to something other than the wheel, re-select it, and re-calibrate. All works as it should now.

Excellent patch and thank you.

Few niggles and sure I'm just being petty...:
1. E-Tron Flywheel sound is gone in multi-player still. Probably not a huge priority
2. DLC car selected upon game exit; reverts to non-DLC car upon restart. Not a huge deal
3. Rammers don't spontaneously explode

Good stuffs:
1. Track penalties seem much fairer (to the player) now. If you lose time on track exit or boundary violation, your time still counts and you don't get penalized. It's good.
2. AI detection and behavior seems more refined
3. I have way too much fun and spending way too long playing this shit
4. Thanks.

According to weather forecast websites, Donnington is currently experiencing rain and cloud. I set the game to REAL WEATHER, Time Progression to REAL and start time to current time at Donnington and what do I get? Bright Sunshine...... Similar situation with Spa.

Is there something I am missing? Do I need to open a specific port on my firewall? Is there something in the room setup that I am missing?

Set up your Quick Race Weekend or Free Practice and just before you launch the game mode...

Go to the weather setting screen
Cycle through all the weather slot options once, finishing on "real weather"
The date should now be locked to today and the time changed to the current hour (the date and time seem to get set incorrectly and need correcting before each race launch)
Now launch the game mode

Here is how Donington looks for me...

Spa is currently "heavy cloud," with "overcast" forecast using 30x weather progression.

1) The Class Matching in the Online Lobby is a bit of a mess. I pick FA, and Road A, FA, and all the F's come up. Pick Road A, and the same thing happens.

2)Does anyone know what the new symbols in the lobby mean? There's the triangle that we always had (green, yellow, red), and the other symbol is 2 rectangular boxes on top of each other. What does that represent?

Yes, online lobby where you filter what games are available. I filtered by class Road A, FA, and a few others. It does filter, but from what I saw, not well.

Oh, and by the way, awesome job with the FA tires and wear.

First of all: GREAT GUYS.

Just a little concern.
I think, the new class filters are a little bit to much splitting.
If we want to do LMP1, LMP2 and LMP900 together ( former filter PROTOTPE ) in online races, we'll have to select ANY.
So some cracy idiots will bug the race with not wanted cars in public races.

or am i wrong?

Dear Game Developers,

today is a really sad day for me. Unfortunately i cant' drive pPCARS anymore.

Post release i hope i was an active and helpfull WMD member. I had a consumer wheel and with a few MP bugs, i could drive the game after the release.

Than i proudly bougt myself some kind of SIM Racing hardware reference. An OSW wheel.
I know that it's driver "MMos ForceFeedback Tool 2014 0.91" causes PCARS to crash when changing a car or track or make some changes in the FFB Settings. Also there was the menu centerspring.

In 2.5 i could disable the centerspring. Verry nice! The above mentioned crashing issues were still there. But i was able to drive one combo and say "ok" to the unhandeled exception each time i first load a track after changing car or track.

But now with 3.0 after reassigning and recalibrating the wheel a few times, on track the wheel fully turns left or fully turns right when the car should move forward. Even with 5MPH.

So today i can't drive this game anymore. Nothing i could do. I'm realy sad!

I know that the OSW community probably is (understandable) not in the focus of your post release development.

But i realy hope that you will take a closer look to it's driver, the unhandled exception behaviour and now new with 3.0 the impossibility to drive a car straight forward.

If i can help with any more descent feedback, your'e welcome. I just hope i can drive this game in the new future even with a harware not hundredthousend of customers have.

I'm really hoping on your effort. Today, was a very sad PCARS - OSW day.

Hey Umer, thanks for reply.

I read of this issue in the past so i tried it. I cut it 50% and 75% (with and without Jack Spade files). A tiny move to one direction forces the wheel fully to turn in this direction.

Well the OSW wheel is an amazing piece of SIM-Racing-Hardware. It needs a bit of passion to find the settings in each game, but once you're done this really brings a big smile on your face.

Even in PCARS which offers great FFB once you found your settings.

The MMos ForceFeddback 2014 0.91 driver works great with any other game Windows 7, 8.1 and 10. So i think the driver has to be implemented "correctly" in the game. (The behaviour is the same on each platform 32bit or 64bit doesn't matter)

I know there were a lot of tweaking and bug fixing for the hardware the majority of the players use. So could totaly understand that the post release development focus is on that part. Beside the crashing issue, OSW-users could drive in the past and enjoy their wheel with PCARS.

Now it is a different situation, so i hope, that the "correct" implementation of the OSW (MMos ForceFeedback 2014 0.91) gets some priority in post release development even if the community is not as big as Fanatec's for example.

It's a little unlovely, that some kind of hardware made for SIM-Racing-Passionists won't work together with PCARS.

Couldn't disagree more.
Getting the F1 license means SMS will be limited to doing only what FOM allows them to do, which will affect the quality of the game. PCars already has a nice selection of open-wheels, if SMS included all the current F1 tracks that would be good enough for me. Maybe include tracks from previous F1 seasons as well.

I honestly think that they're on the right track with the way FA is now. I still watch the races, because everyone still watches them, but the V6 cars are pretty boring in comparison to just about everything else that has run in the last 30 years. I'll take the wild V8 cars any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

The only improvement I could really see them making on FA is to include different power unit options. I'd love to see the series mixed up a bit by adding V10's, V12's, and hell, even the turbo V6's for that matter. While you're at it, put some 4 cyl power units in there. Have certain power unit setups with advantages and disadvantages e.g. cars with less top end get traction control as a tradeoff.

Was it recognized as a G27 before the patch? Could you try renaming \Steam\userdata\[userid]\234630\local\project cars\profiles\default.sav to for example default.bak and trying again? You can rename it back to get your old settings and career back.

I edited my post. It works now. I just had to de-select my old control scheme, choose a different one, and then choose the G29 again. Thanks!

you mean online? Some other steps need to be done before that can work. Imo it is only sensible when ppl can join mid race, with the spectator mode added it's already one small step closer. However once ppl can join mid-race and spectate, some work on the MP logic and UI would be needed to be able to engage a swap, resp. tell the game how you want to swap with. Also the game has to handle it somehow, what if trollX selects to swap with driverA1 instead of driverA2?! Driver swaps with AI are already in place and work, I once tested it accidentally at Nordschleife ~_~

I'd also rather agree with FS7, mainly because I think that sounds better as an idea than as a concept. Imho it can be a case of, the longer you think about it, the worse it actually looks like. I'd rather like to see other types of F1 cars being added to the pCARS1 universe then SMS being forced to do a stand alone F1 game based on pCARS physics and assets. However, the big point here is the price tag. I have no idea what the F1 license costs, but seeing how greedy Bernie has become, I think we can use that money much much better than throwing it at FIA.

Found some bugs just now, driving audi imsa, real weather at nurburgring, rained for most of race, every second time i pitted the pit stop options kept cycling through by themselves in fast forward, ended up having to exit pit setup without saving and just letting it do the default settings in the pit stop. Also when i watched replay at end of race the windscreen wiper was not working and the windscreen had what looked like black marking pen marks over the area where the wiper would normally sweep, looked very bizarre indeed.

Are you using a wheel?

If yes was the wheel not centred?

If Yes, then hold your wheel to the centre point, that is the fix until the next patch, we noticed the bug yesterday and SMS already should know about it.

I'm sure SMS could do a better job than CM but I seriously doubt a licensed F1 game by SMS would be better than PCars due to all the limitations that FOM would impose.

Just look at the F1 games by CM:
-they can't implement a realistic damage model or a realistic handling model because FOM wants the game to be accessible to the average F1 fan.
-setups are very generic, a more detailed setup like in PCars with realistic units would probably be confusing for the average gamer.
-they can't include feeder series.
-iirc in F1 2015 2014 cars cannot run at Mexico & 2015 cars cannot run at Hockenheim. F1 2013 had some bonus tracks but it took a lot of work from CM with licensing to include them in the game and make them playable in all modes. In games such as F1CE & F1 2005 there were bonus cars & tracks but they were usable only in time trial.

Meanwhile in PCars we have 5 different types of recent open-wheel cars, plus classic open-wheelers (with more coming later), plus 2 types of karts. There's currently 26 real track locations (more than in any F1 game), most of them with multiple layouts, there's more locations to be added, and I can race any car at any track. There's a good career mode, where one can focus only on F1 or recreate the path of a real F1 driver by starting in karts and work their way up to F1. There's a good damage model & realistic handling model.

I haven't played F1 2015 yet, but I've played all the previous F1 games, and I can understand the frustration of some people with the games. An official F1 game by SMS might seem like a good idea to some but to me I honestly think it would be better for SMS to invest their budget adding more cars, tracks & features to PCars.

So it seems like my force feedback issues are finally (after 2 months) gone. Meaning the game may now be playable for me.

But I did find bug when the car is returned to the pitbox after a wheel is broken off/broken steering.

https://youtu.be/lItE-wuTY6Q

Car: Mclaren 12C GT3
Race Type: Free Practice
Weather: Clear (although tried in rainy weather and issue persists) x30
Time Progression: 60x
Track: Laguna Seca

System Specs: See signature

Issue: As shown in the video (two examples), the car is crashed into a wall to break the steering/suspension by having a wheel come off. The steering wheel is shown at some angle x and the car is returned to the pitbox. When the car is sent out to continue practice, the steering wheel (FFB) stays at angle x in the pits. If the steering wheel is turned, the FFB will return the steering wheel to angle x. As soon as manual control is enabled (pit exit), the steering wheel is returned to match the in game wheel/controls. This was repeated in the video to show that whatever angle the steering wheel is at when the car is returned to the pit box is the angle the game tries to keep the wheel at in the menu and pits.

At least this is not a game breaking issue like all of my other FFB problems I had before this patch :).

I had the same thing happen earlier myself.... Reported to the Devs.

Thanks for the detailed report.

I just discovered this happens regardless of a crash/damage. Right now I can exit the pits, turn the wheel, return to the pits, and the issue shows up.

Noticed that configure of gear change in control's is reversed. AFTER patch 3.0!

215181
Before patch is was: UP Button 1, Down Button 0.
I am using right paddle to shift up and it is set as down in controls. And of course, left paddle to downshift, set as up in controls.
To make thing clearer???
I did clicked in: Gear Shift Up, and pressed LEFT (down!) paddle! And, Gear Shift Down, and pressed RIGHT (up!) paddle....
Omg..... Look @ pic!!

BTW!
Am I the only one to have this mixup??

They need your computer specifications!
Windows?
GPU, Drivers?
Graphic Resolution?
And so on.

Well, there seems to be a bug with car selection, at least with the GT3 Bentley.
As you can see on the image below, on the top right corner it says i´m the bentley, also on the image from car selection and the text from the chat.
But on the players list, it says i´m with the Aston Martin, which is the car i get if actually join the game.
Tried to exit and enter the lobby and also restart game and enter the same lobby, no effect what so ever.

Maybe the host doesn´t have the DLC and the changes to MP on patch 3.0 is causing this ?! Because it doesn´t happen all the time, only on few lobbys.

Are you using a wheel?

If yes was the wheel not centred?

If Yes, then hold your wheel to the centre point, that is the fix until the next patch, we noticed the bug yesterday and SMS already should know about it.

Not sure if wheel was centred but I did noticeable I left the pits it wasnt which I found odd. Thanks for the tip

Steam is update high priority set up and dont wnat to download anything !

I was wondering if it's a game translation timing features that could delayed the patch release for me ???

Steam should be improved on that - please dont quota the upload or download by regions ! if so it could expain also

I have found a bug with patch 3.0 its really weird. This has only happened twice to me so far but both times being after the release of the patch. This bug manifests itself when making contact with the Armco barriers the first time was a heavy hit the second time was just a small scrape but they both resulted in the car coming to a dead halt and the engine turned off. You would expect to bounce off the barrier or slide along but no, the physics seem to crash and the car just sits there until you get the engine started (also no damage was suffered).

Just done two, 3 lap races here with no issue, using "real weather" x30 (so light rain> dry> light rain).

First race was against 19 AI, second race against full field (53?) of AI.

Win 10 here also.

I started a fresh pCARS profile for patch 3.

Dunno what to say.. i've created a new profile too and did an integrity check.. still same error and can't play pcars :|

Mines always done that if my wheel isn't centred in the menus, i thought it was deliberate, so confused as to how it's now a bug.

You can use the wheel to navigate, but when entering the pits the wheel should centre so it doesn't auto scroll.

The bug in 3.0 is the wheel is off centre

Project Cars - a fabulous game and a wondrous bit of coding although it does have the odd naughty moment and sometimes a touch of evil. But after over 300 online races I am overwhelmed by the sheer beauty of this game and the 'niggles' tend to disappear into the distance (a little like the opposition at times). However, I have now (after 5 hours) downloaded patch 3 and found a little more time from my day to squeeze in a race. After 30 mins qualifying and 15 min warm-up I was all set when suddenly my wheel is wrenched out of my hands and I appear on the grid facing backwards...as you can imagine slightly disturbing. Shortly before I watch the field descend upon me (normally reserved for the rear view mirror) my pit crew tell me I have made a jump start! Now this is normally very annoying but I was rather pre-occupied with the intense battering I was taking by what I can only guess was a very irate gang of fellow racers. (who were fortunately facing - for them - the right way)

As any good racer would do I quickly retired my heap of junk to the pits and tried to take in what had just happened. Eventually...somewhat calmer, I returned to the lobby and saw a list of 76 races. Now this seemed great until I scrolled down to see that 51 of them were empty!? Curious I joined group of 6 for a race at Donnington where I enjoyed 20 mins of trouble free qualifying until I was unceremoniously removed from the race!?

Is this this Patch 3 related or am I just having a bad day? Bad days I can deal with but a broken Project Cars is just not worth thinking about.

Talking of wheels, the game keeps forgetting I have a G25 and not some other Logitech thing, however, it works fine, so I don't think its a major issue. Graphics glitch with the latest AMD driver seems be fixed, well on Windows 10 and a 290X anyhow. Nice to see the coming soon thing on the setup page, hopefully not long now to a proper setup load and save system the community has been crying out for.

We have a lot of car/track combinations so you're most likely to see times if you select 'All' for car in the leaderboard screen.

Also the leaderboards were reset for this patch on Friday so they might not have any times yet.

* Various cars – graphical issues addressed – Mercedes C-Coupe DTM, Sauber C9, Audi 90, Audi R8 LMS Ultra, Audi R18, Audi R18 e-tron, Aston Martin Rapide, BAC Mono, Bentley Continental GT3, Bentley Speed 8, BMW 1M, BMW Z4 GT3, BMW 320 Group5, BMW M3 E30 GroupA, Caterham Classic, Caterham SP300R, Ford Capri Group5, Ford MkIV, Formula C, Formula A, Ginetta G55 GT4, McLaren F1, Ruf RGT8 GT3, Ruf RGT8.
* 4WD/hybrid vehicles – enabled visual backfires.

I love the fact that you guys are doing a lot of updates!

Though 3.0 improved quite a lot, there is still much much to do and much simply not fixed.
After playing it for 3 months, here's what I have found that needs improvement:

* 2.0 and 3.0 addresses jump-starts. This absolutely has not been fixed. I still sometimes get punched by
a flying car on the very second the race begins. And worse! ... it leaves ME with a 10sec penalty!

* the host should be able to kick players instantly. I think the "power" of such a guy is less annoying than
trolling players that are completely ruining a session by slamming into other players on purpose. The voting
system is not powerful enough.

* In-game and lobby chat are a disaster. In-game chat just flies all over the place. Content from 10mins ago
repeats itself and new content doesn't show up at all. Besides that ... 20% of you sentence just falls off on
the right. The lobby chat does weird glitching when you're scrolling and sometimes after a race, you can't
click the message bar ... simply does not respond.

* The replays are nice, but replaying an online race results in crap. Either you miss 70% of the original grid,
or a few cars get stuck on the grid. And I've checked if guys are missing that were disconnecting during the
race, but I've had battles till the end of the race and that guy just doesn't exist in the replay; such a shame!!

* The F1 cars don't have a suspension that is as ridgit as a real F1 car. I get way too many suspension problems
when just taking some kerbs like a real F1 car does. It really does not compare to the real deal. And of course
I'm no F1-driver, but seeing these dudes fly over kerbs the whole 60 laps race without any problem .. EVER .. it
sure makes you wonder why F1 cars from Project Cars brake down after taking a few kerbs.

* 3.0 made some changes to the filter options when going online. I only play "FA", and eeeevery time I go to
this overview, I have to f*cking click 13 times to "left" when filtering on race class. It would be much much
better to be able to save your filter ... or maybe just stay on the filter that you've selected most recently.
It also would be nice to be able to filter on empty/full servers. And another addition is that you can see which
sessions a game has and how long they will take or how much time there is left.

* If you go to "Monitor" (during qualify), your HUD disappears permanently until you manually set it to "on" in
game gameplay settings of Project Cars.

* I think that unsafe releases should be addressed. It's just stupid the drive IN a car of my opponent, because
I'm getting released while an opponent drives by through the pit lane.

* Qualify sometimes just gets repeated. This is really annoying when you already did a 30minutes session.

* Project Cars makes people with a bad connection fly ALL over the place. They bump into walls and slide
from left to right. Overtaking is just an impossible job, since you have NO clue where he will be. I get that
network lag is an issue, but I don't get that these guys have to look like morons slamming in each and
every wall from left to right.

* When you follow the pit lane exit, you get punished sometimes for cutting track. Azure GP is an examply
where you "cut corner" when exiting pit lane and getting punished for following that.

* On my profile, it says that my favourite cam is chase cam ... I NEVER play in chase cam, but always in cockpit view.
Also ... what's up with the "reputation" bit? It's always at 0,00%.

* FA cars should not have DRS available at all time. The tracks should have assigned DRS zones.

Well ... I'm probably forgetting stuff, but I'll add that later. I hope you guys can take this as positive comments
to improve the game. The game that I, despite the above, absolutely love!

Hahaha ... really ... I don't know you AT ALL, but I really can imagine your frustrated face and movements after this all happened. Love your comment :)

Everytime you guys patch the game, new s**t gets f****d up. Additionally to the old ffb bugs there is a new fabulous bug. Either if i play with xbox controller or with fanatec gt3 wheel, every second race i join or i do create, the device seems to be not connected. As a proof i leave the session to the controller settings and f***n right, no reaction if i push any button. I'm also tired of deleting the settings folder after every f****n patch that f***s up the game even more just to set up all my settings again and again. SMS u truely love to f**k with ur customers aren't you. Your whole solutions in the settings and controller options are dumb as f**k, even kids could do that a lot smarter. No possibility to save controller settings/profiles and tuning setups and share them with friends, that already was possible in rfactor 1. And I dont mean to save one setup per track, i need to save a setup that I can load on any Track. Such dumb solutions cant be true guys.

What happened to Ctrl + K on PC? It seemed like SMS had disabled it and it is even more difficult to take good photos now.

Are there anyway to reset the camera so that it doesnt focus on the centre of the car? Or move and tilt the camera around the car?

The new photo mode UI is much better than before, I do appreciate if we can move and tilt the camera around the car a little bit within the bounds of the track.

The new rain effects looks amazing too. Excellent patch overall, except the Ctrl+K part and photo mode. Thank you, SMS.

CTRL+K works, but.......................
.............select the exterior view, press CTRL + K, the photo mode appear, exit from the photomode and reprove the outside view and again press CTRL + K.
and there normally you should have access: A,Z,E,Q,S,D, and the numpad. :smile-new:

Waiting for Microsoft to approve the patch!

It can take them up to 2 weeks to approve, and then they could ask for changes.

PC doesn't need platform approval, Sony can sometimes be quick.

Indeed : Logitech Driving force pro Wheel controller - as you in race suddently (in do it 3rd times) after 10 min race or 1 hour - blocked the wheel in a strange F1 mode ! It replaced the 900° by a 180° that is reproduced by a 900° on screen driver's hands ingame. The result it totally change the direction sensevity in a 1/2 sec resulting on off track. I m not able to fix the trouble otherweise as closing the game and start it again.

Could be a driver Logitech issue but still very strange

We need PENALITY CONTACT !!! if someone run direct to other car 10 sec penality.

Race are not real right now. People a racing for the 1st place every time - even if they are start 20/20 on grid. It should be add something that force people to be happy and joy with a 9/20 place in online game.

And to be clear WE ALL SUCKS driving !! - they a few bunch of drivers which could be the first and second every time but it's more average for you and me to be 5th- 10th every time !!

So for example forcing the online race to be RANKED, only if all assistance are off and reallistic penality dommages ... are ON - then that's not enought !! it the same time on those race the car should be bought !!!!! so dommages or improvement ... have a cost !!! If you run in the car of the one of the 1 to 5 place as you were 20 and ruin you car - you we have to pay it all back again to race an other time with penality fees for the direct contact !!

So people get a little just this little - which isnt there now - responsabilities on their driving around track in race mode.

Too many times I saw a driver 5th place accelerating too much on the first or second turn and get off but then he moving left right to avoid all other to overpass him as he get his 10 sec penality finish ... that can't be ... it just take off all gaming experience - no handling of race no handling of consuption ... that's poor

If people wanna show off : putt fraps ON and got to free practice do you time lap post it on youtube get reviews, get thungs up ... done .. good job

online is not for timing and speed is how you brake later get overpass someone without contact in a impossible place of track is handling your consuption tyres better than the one who brakes hard every times .... all of that without that I better go solo gaming.

Hi guys, I updated the first post with a few notes on the Dedicated Server improvements. Although this is an external module, it does have an affect on the regular game client, so posting the notes in here also for completion:

For more detailed information about DS changes and its API updates, see http://forum.projectcarsgame.com/showthread.php?26520-Dedicated-Server-API&p=925930&viewfull=1#post925930

IIRC the tire width increase was only 2cm. This won'T magically make the car 1.5s/lap quicker.

Found annoying bug in the replay function.

yesterday we had a race with 15 people, 30 lap in Nuernberg GP.
After that some sent me their replay files for making a short video.

Now i saw that 5 cars didn't move and in every replay file the cars were not the same.
There was also a start accident, that is totally different replayed in different files.

In the screenshots you see same position, wrong car.

If SMS wants to parse the files please PM, i'll send download links ( 200MB / file )

This behaviour is really bad, as the replay does not reflect the real progress.
It's useless, just a nice movie.

nope. The replay must be the same for every participant.

I have also replays patch 2.0 from from a race in Spa with 7 participants.
We exchanged the files, as till patch 3.0 it was not possible to change to the cameras of other cars.
In this replays the positions and cars were in the right order and we could produce a movie with highlight scenes reflecting the race.

With this strange behaviour in patch 3.0 that's impossible.
Its useless to save 200megs of telemetry and position data, if that does not correspond to the real progress.
So it's a bug!
As i said, just a nice, but useless movie.

Agreed, its pretty frustrating to save a replay and go to watch it or upload it to find out its useless as a replay. And I dont have 3.0 yet. in the video below, while the cars are the same, most likely because it was restricted to the M1 the liveries (except mine #9) were all totally different, Not a huge issue I admit, BUT, 3 cars were just plain MISSING from the replay. P1 P2 P3 were all just missing from it entirely....leading to an Incident I had with one of those missing cars looking like i was hitting an Invisible car, take a look..

There are still some replay issues within 3.0, for example showing incorrect cars, we run a Multi class races, and suddenly you have a Clio going at Group 5 speeds....
And cars just stuck on the start straight is still an issue

Before update 3.0, I could only focus my replay only, thankfully I can now switch to different drivers to view. On ps4, players are not shown in replay if they quit early; also the player's names are missing. Does this seems to be an issue on the pc as well?

The replay issues have been reported (and the devs have been notified of the report but I'm sure they were already aware of the issue):

Yes it happens on all platforms. Seems like it has to do with the game not having a full set of data for that player when the replay is saved so it just drops it entirely. Otherwise you may end up having cars get frozen in place in the middle of the track after it's particular data set runs out.

One thing I've noticed (and may warrant some research) is that the Wrong Car bug only seems to happen in multiplayer races where a person leaves before the race is completed. I'd be interested to know if someone has had this issue in a race where everyone who started the race stayed until the very end.
