I think it was 4.7 and default was 4.2 it says it underneath. I do most of this off my phone.
i guess i would need the book for the mouse and keyboard to know what driver to download? Because i don't think i would have it anymore
Just did a quick search and they figure about 74 percent of those will reach 4.9 with higher numbers becoming much smaller margins so you may be in the other 26 percent. Safe maximum voltage of 1.4 but most reaching higher overclocks around 1.35. If its over 1.4 id say it would cause issues and make the cpu not very happy.lol But there are other things when overclocking that can issues with stability. Offset voltages and things that are honestly beyond what I know or want to take the chance of smoking my cpu for.

Hmmm:confused: Any thoughts on this DD wheel??? I'm not looking to buy it... The v2.5 is really good... Still waiting to see what Fanatec will offer with a DD wheel.... The price seems really decent... I'm not too sure about the wheels specs though... I haven't done much research so i don,t know what good DD wheel specs should be other than refresh rate and high torque NM rating:confused: but it seems that DD wheel prices are really coming Down now.
only sucky thing with DD wheels is that if you want buttons on your wheel rim you will have to use a coil wire because there is No way to hide them inside the wheel shaft....i hope the Fanatec DD wheel has the wires hidden inside the shaft with the Din connector like the wheels are now.

That's basically just a prepackaged osw kit. By the time you buy a wheel and paddle shifter you will be right back the cost of a accuforce. Yes it will be stronger but youre pretty much on your own figuring out how to get it to work right with all the games it wont be supported. That's why id say accuforce is still the best bet if you don't want to screw around. Even at 13 nm its still almost double what we have now so it would still be a large jump in feel without the headache.

I was just looking at that wheel kit again. If they actually had their gt wheel that wouldn't be a bad deal. Depends on how good the paddle shifter part is though. You could do the whole deal for about 1100 dollars. Might almost be worth the extra aggravation. For the price difference you could get the sim lab rig and still be ahead....hmmmm Damn you grimey I had my mind all made up on the accuforce when I decided to do it. But I'm kind of in the same boat as most of us now. I'm waiting to see whats coming out before I decide seeing they are getting more common and obviously the direction the high end wheels are going.

There really isn't a lot to do in r3e. Just start by turning down/off the effects and you can play with the lateral and vertical settings some.Things like the shift effect are set way too high. My settings aren't very far off the default setting except for the effects stuff. Maybe 5 off of default. Biggest thing is turning on the ffb hud and adjust the car gains because most will be set too low. Id try and stick with newer like 2015-2016 cars to get started because I'm not sure they all have been updated to the latest physics yet but I could be wrong there. The new tracks with the wtcc cars is some good racing. Id use the adaptive ai too. They may be a little goofy at first but they seem to adjust pretty quickly to the times your running. If you haven't deleted your ai adaptive file id do that first otherwise the January update screwed them all up and will make them super aggressive if you don't delete it and start fresh. Once they get adjusted youll have some really good door to door racing.

It does. That's the thing once set up right I don't think any of them feel all that different. You can jump between any of them and settle right in to turning good laps. Just nice to have choices because they all have different cars but r3e has the best ai by far. Grimey remember in r3e if you use adaptive ai they have to learn before they get adjusted to your level. I think it takes about 6 laps and you cant use practice for that. So if you just jump in with adaptive ai its not a good representation of how the ai act until they learn. Once they learn what youre turning for times they will settle in and make for some really good racing. Some slightly faster but beatable and some slower. After spending time following the ai thread I understand why you get driven over or why youre rear ending cars in corners in any of the sims. You have the ai set either too high or too low and sometimes you don't need to be off by much. Granted that wont help in pcars with ai cutting corners or going off roading to make a pass.

I feel like PCars lets you get away with a little too much braking around corner entry, without adequate consequences. Both AC and RE3, make you focus more on braking, and if you miss your braking point or want to go deep for an overtake, you really have to modulate the brake and throttle and keep the car balanced. With PCars, I can slam the brakes hard and get away with holding a lot more brake pressure trailing into turn-in.

Totally agree AC seems like I'm slower but its how braking works in Ac its better but harder, pcars is more forgiven so hope pcars have made some changes even with lock up feel. GTS is a updated gt6 KAZ really js.

Agree with the late Braking into Corner with Pcars... IMO Pcars Has more Rear to Mid Car weight transfer feel going into corners so very late Braking while maintaining total controle is possible.... AC/R3E have more front End/Wheel Feel going into corners and Less Rear Wheel Feel so you have to Drive according to that feel.... Both Styles feel Good its Really Hard to figure or choose which method feels more Natural.

If pcars can get it right it will be top 3 in FFB like your point grimey. Pcars is so close too Total car feel under braking the mid corner feel exit etc BUT the RA'S need fixed meaning bleed needs to be even faster from what it is now like negative values could be wrong but high bleed gets stupid high. Even high bleed low gain don't feel good I run gain at like 45 bl 75 still was sticky but you could drive it.

Have you tried any of the Porsche 911s? You can't even be competitive in those cars unless you're willing/able to use weight transfer to induce controlled oversteer. There's plenty of rear information in AC and R3E. To be honest, it wasn't until I switched to PC and started playing AC and R3E that I felt I was able to improve my ability to control oversteer with weight transfer and braking. To me, both feel better in AC.

Its funny my times are really similar in all 3 sims. The difference is I can drive the same in r3e and ac where being smooth pays off in better times but in pcars you have to almost over drive the cars to get fast times. Late braking and down shifting like crazy in pcars gets faster laps without any real downside. If I downshifted in ac or r3e like I can I pcars I could almost guarantee id spin out on entry.

The vr in the upper right corner isn't the beta if you have it turned off. If you opted out of the beta its just steam vr which is different. I haven't had any issues with the oculus but I think I remember seeing something on that on the r3e forum. If you go on the link at the top where it says steam beta breaking it you will probably find something. You know you can add a number to the -vr to change the pixels? There is a leaderboard at the top left of the main screen but there isn't always a lot of times in it. Same car and track combinations are usually pretty close between ac,r3e,and pcars though. In case you haven't caught it yet ac and r3e both have downshift alerts. If you try to down shift too early it gives you a warning.
Grimey I think you have the beta turned on still. One of the guys on the r3e forum had his out of sync like double vision with his. So maybe that's the issue. If I remember right you have to turn the beta off with the vr open. I think it was in the settings where the vr shows up on your monitor at the bottom.

I noticed the down shift alerts... Im going to disable that its annoying and distracting..it works better some cars than others because its time based alerts... Some cars you can slam through the grears others you cant.
Is your Oculus working with R3E, do you use it to Race with??? Mine the Eyes are out of sync so i cant race with it unless i close 1 eye.
I did the -vr, -vr2.0 , -vr1 5, ... Nothing makes a Diff the eyes wont sync....I surfed web for info but No Solutions thus far.

Yeah works fine. Its the only thing I use now because I just have a 24 inch monitor for the pc. I cant go back from vr.lol It sounds like somehow the vr beta is still on. Ive honestly never had an issue with r3e except in the beginning when a sound program was crashing it.
Grimey guys on the sector 3 forum had the same issue it was steam vr beta. Id double check and make sure its off. You have to restart steam after turning it off. Also if you have any other programs you use to check fps or something along those lines id turn them off until you get it working to make sure they aren't causing issues.

Grimey - I don't know if it matters, but I usually see a space in the pixel density settings like "-vr 2.1". Like I said, not sure if it makes a difference, but I've never seen it without the space.

Latest driver and nothing special for settings. Steam vr does start at game launch from steam. Its supposed to I think it uses open vr then. So having that off may be your problem but I think even when vr didn't start for me it just went to the big screen mode. Like a giant movie screen. any way i waited ths long for it to be right a bit longer wont hurt... i have the FFB feeling Really Nice...Funny R3E seems to work on the same Pricipal as Pcars set the Global settings for Every Car then use the in Car FFB multiplier(IMO same as in Car Master scale) to set the FFB Strength Level per car.
Many of R3E Global Settings do the same thing as PCars in Car Setting Fx,Fy,Fz,Mz but they are Global for all cars and the only tbing to adjust is the FFB strength per car.... it Seems Very Similar to Pcars!!!

It is but its not. If you read the whole thing the last steam update didn't work right with r3e. So they broke it again. There is also a open vr thread if I remember right that tells you what to have on and off. Those two treads might have turned into one though Do you have asynchronous reprojection on in steam? I think that's what it was called. Its supposed to be. Other then that id post in the sector 3 forum or on steam I'm sure someone will help you out pretty quick. Great guys there. When I had the issue with the program crashing it they had me post the crash report and figured it out in 2 days.

Hi, sorry if this is in the wrong place. I got a G920 a few days ago and I'm super happy with it, but Project Cars doesn't seem to like it for some reason. It kind of seems like the self-centering is backwards on the left side of the wheel or something and I can't find any way to fix it. Anyone know what could be wrong? I'm on Windows 10, calibrating doesn't work, and drivers are up to date. The really odd thing is that it does it in the menus too. As soon as you move the wheel more than 90 degrees to the left, it keeps going. I can't post links yet, but I'll talk to a moderator and see if I can link a video.

From what i Feel in the wheel.. The Level of Detail is more than i thought we would ever feel in a Video Game!!!
For Me to buy a DD wheel it would have to get utterly Raving Reviews!!! The v2 i have is a Great wheel its certainly No Slouch... But the v2.5 because of the 0% Drag adds much More Subtle Feel... the More Subtle Feel you get the Sharper and Clearer the Stronger Forces Feel... Yes they are supposed to be the same but the No Drag wheel center and added clarity in subtle FFB really sets the v2.5 ahead by a Nice bit.

Not sure how Fanatec's DD wheel won't/can't be better. Even if they just swapped the belts and motor, but left the sensors and other electronics the same, there'd be a big improvement. It's DD or bust for me. :encouragement:

Grimey,
Open vr thread under general discussion on the sector 3 forum is still open. I just copied what they said and had turned on or off in the screen shots.Did you get it figured out yet?
Its just Not working for Me... can you post a link to the page you are talking about....that way i can be sure i didnt miss anything.
I Tried everything i can think about.... The Head set Eyes are just outta sync.... If i Race with 1 eye closed then it woeks fine...Shrugggs
Wasn't that posted on april fools?
Not sure. I didn't see it until this morning. Makes sense though, because the whole time I was reading it, I was like, "25 percent? I guess I don't understand what's involved in laser scanning."... LOL.

I have it Running but i have Not Re run the Steam VR set up in a bit... I guess its been a Few updates since i 5an the Steam VR set up thing....Steam Big picture ETC works in VR though... im just gonna Run it again to see what happens... Maybe that has somethingbto do with the Eyes Not syncing properly??? Doubt it but hey its worth a shot.

The More i Look at the R3E setting the More they Make sence!!! They are Exactly like Pcars settings!!! Only Real diff is that PCars you have to Set the FFB per Car.... R3E went with 1 FFB to rule them all as it should be and you set the FFB Strength per car with the FFB multiplier.
All of the settings are there just under different Names with a proper Description of what it does.... Look at and Read the R3E settings you can Clearly see GM FFB, SG, RAB, Mz and all the other setting just labeld differently.... R3E has some added settings that Pcars should have had that really spice up the FFB.
Edit: Im pondering if R3E Steering Rack would be more Like Pcars TF or SG.... Hmmm:confused:.... Im thinking more towards TF because it only affects Tire VS Steering Rack Balance/Feel and it will Not + or - all FFB forces combined like SG
http://www.racedepartment.com/threads/ffb-setting-explanations.121542/
IMO Fx should have been labeled under steer because when set higher than Fy it makes the Steering lighter.... You can test this your self.... Set Fx 10, Fy 50 test for feel... Then Fx 30,Fy 50 test for feel... you will Notice that the Wheel get lighter while turning at speed..... Then Fx 50, Fy 50 you will see that there is very little to No Turning feel in the wheel.... when turning Most of the wheel weight is Gone!!!! So Fx = Fy(Lateral/ L to R side Load) Killer to make the wheel lighter and give the feel of understeer...therefore Fx must = under steer.....Hmmmm:confused:
SMS really Should have done a better Job Labeling and Describing what the settings do.

The wheel is new and the firmware is also up to date. Roger Prynne kindly added the video link to the bottom of my original post, which may help (Be careful, my excellent cinematography skills and immaculate desk space may be too much for you to handle).

RE3? And pretty much every other sim I've played...LOL. Beyond the car-specific settings, I don't know why PCars has track specific FFB settings. That's where it gets really silly. Why do we have to set the in-car FFB gain on a per track basis??? :hopelessness:

Why opt into the VR Beta, just to opt out? I never had the VR beta, and all of the sims worked fine for me. Does it install anything, something that might not be getting reset when you opt out?

No you should just be able to opt out of it and restart steam and you should be good. I tried it to see if it looked any better when they said they fixed it. Key word being should .lol This is driving me nuts though I remember reading guys having this issue and I think you had to delete a file or something. Basically its stuck on the old setting when in vr or something along those lines. I know his answer is in one of the vr posts on the sector 3 forum.

I Opted into the Beta then opted back out as a way to reset it and make sure i was totally opted out.
I havent Tried reinstalling the R3E yet.
But R3E is Really Good!!! Its going to become My New Go To Game for Racing!!! Especially once i get the VR working right.
I have FFB tuned Really Nice Now!!! I tuned it on the Gt3 Ruf as usual... LOL... then i went to a LMP1 car and it Drove Fantastic!!! the FFB and Handling was Spot On!!!... Im sure i will get it Dialed in/ Fine tuned even better but as it is i spent the whole weekend testing and figuring the settings out... It wasn't hard at all after spending sooo much time tweeking with Pcars FFB:p its pretty much the same just labeld better...but the extra features that allow you to dial in slip feel etc are Really Nice once you have the basic FFB and wheel weight right.
I think R3E is even better than iracing!!!
Back in December they had the Christmas bundle all the content for a really cheap price i forget how much i bought it just because evennthough i was nit playing it... I think i spent less than $60.00 but i got every car and track!!! It was a Good investment.... The Track and Car Combos alone are going to Hurt Pcars Big time....I will get the New cars and tracks that have released after that but i have more than enough to keep me content until the Next big Sale:yes:... to date i played less than 1% of the stuff but thats going to change:barbershop_quartet_

If you haven't been playing R3E, then you might have had multiple updates installed on top of each other, even though you never actually started the game. Sometimes, new files are written when the game is loaded. Given that you've tried a lot of fixes to no avail, a reinstall should really be the next thing you try. At least that way, you know you've got a real issue, and not just some patch-stacking issue.
You really can't beat R3E for SP racing. The AI is excellent. Strangely, though... I don't think I've ever tried R3E online. AC is my go-to for online racing. FFB-wise, every single sim I've tried has been easier to dial in than PCars. :)

Haiden can you send Me a Steam Friend Request??? it would be Good to Race with you again.... Maybe Me you and Mopwr can set up a room on R3E and Run a Few races... Is it possible to set up private lobbys??? I havent even looked at the online oart yet:p
also I Must say im pretty impressed with R3E FFB and Physics and im only just Now Getting into it!!!!
it seems R3E really makes you Focus on Braking points and throttle control from what i feel so far No way can i get away with the Super Man stunt Driver Late Brake Quick Down shifts that Pcars allows....
That Down shift warning is annoying!!! is there a way to turn it Off?
also What file do i have to delete to retrain the AI.....I have only been Driving in practice so far do they kearn there also???... In the Practice session Now that i have the FFB set up Nice im Smoking them!!! i Need them to Retrain to Quicken their Pace.
also The DOR does it set by its self per car or do i have to set it???... I went from the Gt3 Porsche to a LMP1 and it drove well so it seems that it may set its self but im Not sure... Do you set your own DOR per Car???

Yeah... I'll send one later when I'm home, or send me one if you get there first.
I can't remember the directory the AI file is in, but it's called something obvious, like AdaptiveAI.ini. Oh...and I think it's in an odd folder, something called SimBin. Check your MyDocuments folder. Most games their user directories there under the game name. But I think R3E files are in a SimBin (or something like that) folder. I had trouble finding it too, because of that.
Don't worry about the downshifting thing. You're only getting it because you built bad habits in PCars. I honestly, have never seen the downshift warning in R3E (I broke my PCars bad-shifting habits long ago). I sometimes hear it in AC (it's audible only in AC), but it's usually a misfire on my part. PCars just allows you to run down the gears way to quickly with little consequence. You just need to redevelop your shifting habits.
The DOR can be adjusted from the Vehicle settings, but you have to return to the pit box to see the Vehicle Settings options. The same place you adjust the in-car gain, there's a setting for wheel rotation. The only thing I hate about R3E in VR is the onscreen wheel and hands rotation doesn't match the actual rotation. The on screen hands/wheel lock at about 180 degrees, even though you're still turning the wheel.
Don't know when you bought the complete content pack, but if you don't have the new BMW M6 GT3 or the new Indy car, you should get them. They're both pretty damn fun.

ac and r3e both punish you for early downshifting. But like Haiden said once you get out of the habit youll be fine. The ai only learns when you are racing which is sort of a pain but it happens pretty quick.

Just pick two tracks you know well and can turn a good pace on, then run a 10 lap race on each. After that, the AI should be sufficiently trained to make for some competitive racing, especially on the tracks you don't know as well. Brands Hatch is a good one to run first (assuming you know it), because R3E only has the short version. That way, you're first race you'll probably be way ahead and bored for 10 laps, so a short track is good to get it over with quickly. Then the second 10 laps race you can run on a longer track, because they'll be a little smarter, and you shouldn't be so bored. :)

If I'm not mistaken it actually does every track but may take a baseline off ones you've done already. That way if you have a track you aren't that good at or a car it adjusts accordingly so youre still evenly matched. That's the way I understood it anyways.

So do they get better if you race at a place more than others?

Yeah. That's my understanding, too. But, if I'm not mistaken, once you've done one track, it takes that result and uses it to set a baseline for the other tracks. Then, as you race others, it adjusts the tracks to your individual performance. Getting a couple down should improve the AI across the board to a degree. Once I trained the AI on one track, the AI's pace and behavior improved on all of them.
In some cases, the baseline will be too high your pace on some tracks. In those cases, you'll be running near the back of the pack, until the AI adapts to your track specific pace. Like this morning, I tried Silverstone in the Indy car and barely qualified 9th after 30 minutes. I was qualifying 1st at Silverstone in the BMW M6 within four laps. Could just be my unfamiliarity with the car, but bet it adjusts a bit after I run a race in the Indy car.

My favorite is when use a combination you don't know at all and the ai run over you like pcars.;) But all things considered the adaptive works very well.

Grimey I think racing with you guys would be a good place to get started online. That way when i suck horribly I wont feel so bad. LOL But really I have no idea whats going on online and it makes it hard because everyone else does. Plus a lot of the guys are way too serious about it. Yeah I want to win as bad as the next guy but in the end its only a game and we all make mistakes. Of course being new to online there are nerves involved you don't want to be that guy and ruin someones race so with you guys its not such a big deal.

It almost sounds like something in the ffb is set too high and youre just bandaiding it with that. Can you post youre settings so maybe we can help you out.

I agree. It shouldn't do that. And Low Speed Spring Saturation only takes effect at stand still, or speeds under 10 mph or something like that.
Google - Does it do that with the default settings, or only with your custom settings?

Yeah... that would cool. I'd actually prefer AC or R3E for online, though. It's been a while since I've played PCars online. I got back into career mode when I got VR, but still haven't gone back online.

Yeah it's definitely a bandaid, but it's the only thing I can find that helps. I've made a few changes, but it does it with default settings too. The default settings also make the steering very heavy; not sure if this is a problem or just the way it is. I've bumped the FFB down to 50, and the the steering gain to 1.25 form the default 3.00; everything else is default. Still can't post pictures :P
I still can't get my vr working. If I uninstall steam and reinstall it will the games still be there? I remember when I was setting up steam vr that I had an error message come up but when I clicked on it it let me continue setting it up so I probably should redo it. I can't remember what the error code was

Usually by the time I'm joining everybody has picked cars and changed whatever and it goes so fast I don't have time for anything except the default car.lol Just a more relaxed setting would be cool. Whatever sim is fine for me we all have to deal with the same game .lol Probably didn't help I didn't have a headset either when I tried it.

Ok first issues turn sg down to 1.0 to start and ffb master in game to 100 then set the overall strength in your profiler screen. Id start at the default setting in the profiler for your wheel. Then see how it works. What are you using for the car ffb settings?
I still can't get my vr working. If I uninstall steam and reinstall it will the games still be there? I remember when I was setting up steam vr that I had an error message come up but when I clicked on it it let me continue setting it up so I probably should redo it. I can't remember what the error code was
Yes they will. Ok so you did the whole room thing for vr? It should work regardless but you will be sitting in the wrong spot if you did do it wrong. But it will work. Pcars and ac should work without it but r3e needs it to work. Does the headset show the home page for oculus when you turn it on? Not to ask a stupid question but you are opening it first right?

yea did the whole room thing but I couldn't do anything in there just look around so I didn't spend much time in there. Yes is shows the oculus home page. I turn my pc on, open oculus home page put headset on and all works. Take off headset open pcars in oculus mode play it till it starts stuttering. I can close pcars and go back into ooculus home page and it looks fine no stuttering. even after the problems happens in pcars I can close it and go into the demo that comes with oculus and that works fine to then go back into game and problems are there again but no problems in oculus demo

Ok it sounds like low fps. All games or just pcars? Did you let the geoforce page set it for you? With that card you shouldn't have to many issues with low fps.lol I'm kind of surprised. Wait a minute did you set up the oculus ? Because that is where you can get games and stuff and recenter yourself. The steam vr room is like that its just a grid until something starts.

Yea I set up oculus I can see where you buys games and I have recenter myself a few times. I even when into the oculus settings and gave it a restart/reboot
While useing msi afterburner I get 45 fps with the rift and around 140fps on my tv. I let the Geoforce optimize the game settings Iv even tryed low settings medium settings and high and ultra settings but it still happens.

Try not using msi afterburner and see what happens ive seen guys have issues with some of the programs. Only in pcars or does it happen in other games? Make sure mirrors and shadows are turned down they are a big fps hit.

Laguna Seca/ Get Real diff/ GTR3 Porsche 1:25.442 that put Me in division 1 #99
Laguna Seca/ Get Real diff/ Aquila CR1 cup 1:30.359 that put Me in division 1 #18
I just wanted to see how close I am to race pace...I did much better than i expected.
Vr still Not working for me i guess i give up on VR until the next Steam/Race Room update hopefully that will fix it.
I know i can get at least .500 more time in VR!!!

There has to be something stupid wrong. Everybody elses vr works. Grimey don't get too excited about your times r3e is different. The fast guys don't care I'm guessing. Most of my times put me between 100-110 for the ai and there are a lot of guys faster on the forum. Even most of my times that I have checked the leaderboards are top 20. Just practice and try to improve that's all I do.Im still amazed every time I think I cant go faster I find time but you need to start tweaking the cars.

I tryed not using msi afterburner and still same thing I only got msi afterburner so i could check temps and fps. Iv checked msi at the start of the session and checked it again when it plays up and there's no loss in fps I still get 45fps the lowest Iv seen go was 43 I think and the temps are good. Gpu 68 to 73 degrees CPU around 45 degrees

Doesn't your mobo have temp monitors built in? I m not sure but the gpu temp seems kind of high. I think 180 is max safe temp for those but not positive. Can you set the fans higher on the gpu? There should be some thing to adjust those. The cpu doesn't look bad.
Just a thought does your mobo have a spot to optimize your fans? Mine does that's why I asked. You just start it and it cycles them all. Not perfect but it works pretty good.

Yea the mono has all that. I'm taking everything back to the guy who built it and he's going to go tho everything with me and try and figure it out. He did say that with everything being so new on my system that it could be a driver issue or something like that that needs updating. Iv reinstalled the drivers and they are up to date but he said this problem might not be reported yet or there still trying to fix it which I hope it is

It is possible its just a driver because windows will only check for windows driver updates not the actual manufacturer driver. There are programs that will do the checking and installing for you. That's what I use just because it easier then searching every manufacturer for updates.Did you try watching the free stuff in the oculus room? Did that work ok if you did? What if you don't start the game in oculus mode? It will still be in vr if you don't use the oculus mode.
Honestly, that sounds more like PCars. AC doesn't have a rush setup. You select your car before you enter the session, and the selection list is already filtered for you based on the host's settings. There's no way you'd be rushed to select a car in AC. That's why I don't want to play PCars online. I hate everything about MP in PCars. I'd be up for a private sessions, but like I said, AC or R3E for me. If you want to do PCars, I'll give it a shot, but I probably won't stick around for long.
You should try MP in AC. You'd probably like it.

Personally, I'd adjust the setting manually. GeForce Experience is a good benchmark, but I've seen it recommend things that aren't optimal, like SMAA, instead of FXAA. The later results in better frame rates, but GeForce Experience recommends SMAA, which doesn't work as well. With your hardware, you shouldn't be having any problems. But VR is demanding. Regular 1080s don't run it well with high/ultra settings. You may be trying to push too much. If you're only getting 45 fps, then I would suggest you start tuning the graphics down, until you can run a stable 90 fps, which is the optimal frame rate. 45 fps is the throttled down frame rate that ATW forces when it detects that you can't do 90 fps. When ATW throttles you down, you should be at a stable 45 fps. If you're seeing drops from 45 fps, then that could be a problem. Make sure you have all post processing, motion blur, and AA turned off. Then either reduce the graphic settings to low, confirm you can get 90 fps, and then start increasing the graphic quality from there, one setting at a time, until you can no longer maintain 90 fps.
If you can't run 90 fps with low settings, then you know you have a serious issue, most likely hardware related. If you run 90 fps at low, then more than likely, your current issue is related to your setting being too high VR.

Yeah... the leaderboards can be misleading, because a lot of the guys just race, instead of running TT hotlaps. Practice racing, instead, because a lot of hot lappers jump online and they have zero situational awareness, and can't take a corner on an alternate line. They only do well when they get space and have the prime line.
Also, question... do you guys use the left-right-back look buttons in VR? AC disables them, which I think is cool. But they still work in R3E, and I think in PCars too. I don't use them though--feels like cheating. It took me a while to get used to using my mirrors only in VR, and yes there are blind spots, but that's just realistic. The only visual aid I use in MP is the track map, because I can't afford to guess and risk ruining someone's race, especially coming out of the pits, or rejoining from off track.

Im Not too concerned about leader board times... Thats 1 of the reasons i dont bother tuning the cars... I used them last night to see how im running on R3E pace wise.. I dont want to be 3 secs a lap slower if i decide to get on line... How ever if i find a track i like Ex: Watkins short i will use that track to push My self while refining My driving style to see just how close to #1 i can get.
it seems that R3E is a tad bit more Challenging to drive.... You Really have to focus on purity of driving linenand braking points. I tested a Few cars last Night on Laguna Seca to see how i get along and im pretty sure i can keep up a good pace as long as i know the track.... I dont want to be the fastest but i dont want to be a rolling Road block thats annoying faster people either:p
Edit: for Me tuning the cars has never really Made Me faster...unless it was something simple and obviose like stretching the gear ratio for tracks with long straights and vise versa.
when i used to tune it was more about matching the car to My driving style EX: if i like to dive bomb into corners while late braking i Need the car to brake & turn sharper....Now days i just learn the tracks and try to be as smooth as possible... I find that this helps Me be faster than tuning....also tuningbthe cars is never a exact science because most of it will Not work as it will in real life....So your constantly fishing for the majic #'s in the set up.... That can be even worse than tweeking Pcars FFB!
for Me i had better sucess tuning the cars when i used a game pad.

Both those are good. I'm with you on the wtcc cars. I just tried a dtm the other night. Should be an update today.:)
Grimey you should start playing with some of the settings. Diff and aero settings can make a big difference. If I remember right the fwd cars in r3e are set to like 90 percent on power turning it down a little can really help in the corners. The rear wing can make a big difference on straights too in different cars and not effect the handling much on some tracks. I don't change a lot usually but some of the stuff can make a pretty big difference.

You shoud have mirrors in VR i would think. If i was road racing im not looking left or right in less racing a guy but i would want too glance at the mirror when driving. And a non wing sprint car at Tulare in VR would be sick. Looking straight then pitching the car sideways looking left threw the corner in a motion sim lol. And if you dont now what track that is YouTube

That was the basis of the question--do you still use the look buttons or do you just use the car's native mirrors? I think using the buttons blows the immersion and makes it easier. In RL, drivers just have to deal with blind spots, catching glances when they can to maintain situational awareness. It's far more challenging. :)

Nice. I got a 1.25.8XX with the BMW Z4. I haven't raced that track in a long while though. I could definitely shave that down, if I put some time into it.
That RUF looks like a Porsche, but it doesn't really behave like a Porsche, though.
Macau is the one with that crazy turn, right? The one that if you don't swing wide enough, you can't really make it.

Yes Macau is a Crazy Track...Nothing But walls!!! its 1 Left turn that you are almost completely Blind going through it you cant see any road ahead you come outta it fast right into a Very Sharp Left!!! just Insane!!!

@Haiden Nice Lap!!!...I havent Riven the BMW yet... I just Love Ruf/Porsche too Much.

Yeah... for some reason, I usually don't pay attention to my lap times, beyond the session I'm in. I forget them as soon as I leave the session and don't actually keep track of my best times. I haven't really gotten into time trials. I tried the R3E Leaderboards for the first time this morning with Indy car at Silverstone, ended up 3rd in Division 1, just .100 behind 2nd place. 1st place is an alien...LOL. Silverstone is a track I know really well, but I just bought the R3E Indy car earlier this week. That was only 3rd time driving it. It's so awesome. So much downforce and grip. :)

Agree i drove the indy car its Really Nice... I was just testing i didnt have the formula rim on but it still felt Good... I used to Love Silverstone in FM 2 & 3... I havent had a Good Go at Siverstone in a bit... Im gonna work My way Back to it.
Im Not a leader board whore unless i really Like a Track..Ex Watkins Short...LOL... But when im New to a game i will look at leader boards to see if im on Pace to be competitive in a online race.. I dont want to be a Rolling Road Blocker.... I hate them Racing on line just sooo annoying because many of them arent even in a Competitve Race for a podium spot and will block the Road/ Ram you off Road to keep you from Lapping them... Or simply Just Make the wrong Move as your trying to pass and screw things up.

Yeah... I hear you. I think we're all way past the road-blocker stage...LOL. The thing is, you don't have to be in podium contention to enjoy a race though. Sometimes, the leaders are aliens, and they just break away, never to be seen again. Other times, I've come in late, and don't get a chance to turn a good quali lap, because of traffic. I start toward the back, but by the end of the race, I'm on P4's ass. Sometimes I get around him, sometimes I don't even try, because he's defending well, and it's not worth the risk in the last couple laps. Sometimes, I quali in the top 4, but then get spun out in turn 1 or 2, and the leaders break away. But then get back on track and work my way back up to 6th or so. No chance of getting on the podium, but coming back to 6th, after a first turn spin is quite rewarding. The thing with online racing is, if you're only focused on taking a podium, you'll end up frustrated more times than not, in a public session. IMO, the best way to enjoy public MP, is to just race the cars around you, and not worry about the podium. In fact, with that approach, I find I end up on the podium, or closer to it, than when I'm actually trying.
Between PCars and AC, I actually think online play is better in AC. There are less idiots (that's not to say they are non-existent, just far less of them), and more adherence to etiquette. The online races are also way more competitive, because the servers are set to one track and class. That sounds limiting, but the beauty is, there are very few people that don't know the track. And since the host controls how many of which car can be used, you don't always get to pick your favorite. So the aliens are often forced to drive a car that isn't their first choice. This mixes things up a bit. I avoided the Corvette, because I just assumed it was sluggish. Then, one day it was the only car available for a session I wanted to join, so I took it. Within 5 laps of the practice round, I had settled into the car, and ended up liking it. With PCars constant track rotation you just end up with people staying in server session, even though they've only driven the track like twice in their life. Then you get a f'cked up quali session full of people in your way, and the race is even worse. You start with 15, and within 5 laps you're down to 5 drivers. In AC, you rarely see that much drop off in a race.
I don't know about R3E. I haven't tried MP there. But I'm pretty sure that, regardless the sim, you, Morpwr, or myself would ever be a rolling road blocker on any track. Sim racer evolve over time, and you just rise to different levels. We're all WAY past the stage of being a disruption online. And even if you do find yourself in the back field (and that's bound to happen at some point for whatever reason), there's nothing wrong with that. Just because you don't have podium pace, doesn't mean you have to be an obstacle to the leaders. :) The only drivers that becomes obstacles are idiots that don't know race etiquette and/or just want to disrupt. But I've been in plenty of races, where the backfield drivers yield when being lapped. In fact, in AC, I've seen drivers just yield, because they realize they don't have the pace to stop the guy behind, and they'd rather just let him pass, instead of slowing them both down while they execute a hopeless defense. I rarely saw that kind of respect in public sessions in PCars. But I see it quite often in AC.

What -vr settings do you use??? I,m using -vr 2.0 with most of the graphics settings on High...I cut car reflections Quality to low because its a hog and i cant see the reflections on my car using VR any way... Shadow i set to Med.
i dont think you can get more than 45FPS using steam open VR while gaming...or can you???
Over all looks pretty Good:yes:

Macau is the one with that crazy turn, right? The one that if you don't swing wide enough, you can't really make it.
1.26.48 in a 10 lap race with the z4 at laguna. I tried the ruf quick but best I got was 1 .27. Id have to spend some time with that one to get faster it pushes like a dump truck.lol
Woooohoooo!!!! i got some help in the sector3 forum and i have the VR working!!!
I had to go into the steam apps and delete the steam VR beta app... even though i opted out the VR beta app was still hooked in for some reason...when i restarted steam it down loaded fresh and now VR is working with R3E!!!
Over all looks pretty Good:yes:
did try the xbow yet?:D

Laguna Seca I got it to 1:27.zxx
Im Soo used to the Ruf from Pcars i feel Right at home In the R3E Ruf also.... The Ruf is all about being in the Right Gear and Throttle Steer... it definitly takes getting used to but when you do its a real rewarding car to drive

The Camaro definitely need some help in the turning department. I tried the ruf for one race last night and just couldn't get settled into a fast lap. Not horrible laps but not fast comfortable laps either. Have you tried all the wttc cars yet?

I've only tied a few cars sooo far... I was busey trying to get the VR working right...VR all Fixed and working Good Now:D.... I way dying to try Macau in VR!!! Thats gonna be My test track for R3E!!! If i can hone My skills to make it through there Fast and Clean i should be able to Drive any Track on the Game fast once i know the layout!!!... I was Running the Gt3 Ruf on Macau and that Camaro was Smoking Me!!!... So i try the Camari on Macau and it woulda been a Jack pot if i were playing Pin Ball:p the car is almost as wide as the Track!!! LOL
Pcars VS R3E i think Pcars AI is Smarter which IMO =Better.... R3E may Run at your Race pace and makenyou push hard to pass them.. The faster you get the faster they get.... But Pcars the Ai is Not only Fast but Smart!!! They will wait and Look how to pass even if its jumping the Curb.... They Make you Drive More Defensively to keep them at bay they even Block Really well!!! Ocars AI is more like racing a Human.
I think R3E may have a longer Life span than Pcars 1 & 2 because they just keep building on it just like iRacing...They sell the Content Not the Game!!! That fact Makes a huge Diff in long term out look... They will probably even update the AI to be Smarter and Agressive like Pcars in future updates...Right Now the AI will Drive through you if you Mess up or Go too Slow but as it is im really liking it alot... Just the Cars and track selection alone are Insane!!! and in sure More tracjs are coming i would love to see Mugello, Seabring and 24hr Lemans Circuit de Lesarthe added in.
The Brake sound is annoying though...why do all the cars have Brake Squeel???

Cant say I agree with the ai comment. P cars ai jumps curbs because it doesn't follow the same rules we have to. The brakes squeal because they do in real life with aggressive brake pads. I actually thought that was a cool feature. There is something coming soon again I think before easter but I'm not positive. Something was hinted at on the forum.

Yeah... I tried the RUF, too. I think I got it into the high 1.26.XXs, before switching to the Z4. I'm way more familiar with the Z4. The RUF didn't behave like a Porsche, which is what I think I was expecting.

That's not smart, that's illegal. PCars' AI is just aggressive. But aggression alone doesn't make a good race, IMO. What's the point in defending, if the AI is just going to cut the chicane or drive off track to avoid losing position. I think R3E's AI is way more realistic than PCars. You can even pressure them into making mistakes.

The Volvo is NICE! I test drove it yesterday and fell in love. I would have bought it right then, but the Steam transfer windows doesn't pop-up for me in VR. I have to load the game normally to make purchase. But I'll definitely be getting that one later today.

I bought one of the complete packs a while ago so the new wtcc pack was like 3 dollars. Its way cheaper to just buy a pack. Plus I haven't found anything I didn't like. I may not be the fastest with them but they are all good.

I was buying packs before, but then realized that sometimes, I only drive one or two cars. So now I just get the car I like as I try them. If you buy from the in-game store, it remembers what you purchased, and then deducts that from the pack cost if you come back later. So, in the end, it all the same. But if I end up only driving one or two cars, it works in my favor. :) I don't know why, but with AC, I can pretty much drive anything in a class/type I like and enjoy it. But with PCars and R3E, there are some cars in the classes I like that I just don't really care to drive.

Yeah I know we all wind up with our favorites. Sometimes ill just drive something different even if I really wouldn't choose it like the ruf to see if I can figure how to drive it and do well with it. Sharpen the skills some I guess.

Whoaaa!!! the More i figure out the more i like it!!! I just made some changes to the default in Garage steering setting and Now the Camaro is a beast!!! Its a absolute Monster but it can be tamed!!! the same with the Ruf and the Cruze Nothing to do with FFB settings or suspension tune...Proper steering Lock setting got rid of that delayed turning feel and I can actually get all the cars i tried to turn Really Nice!!!.... i got the steering 1 to 1.... The on screen hands are off just a tad but the car goes exactly where i steer 1 to 1. steering lock is a very wheel dependent setting that 1 general setting i dont think will fit all wheels....i suggest playing with it...for me higher is better.
I'm running the WTCC 2016 Chevy Cruze now its nice!!!
Why dont the tire turn color according to temp??? is there a way to check tire temp???

I think the tire icons turn color based on wear. Drive long enough, they'll start turning yellow. I use Crew Chief and can get the temps that way, but they're pretty irrelevant in R3E, at least from what I've noticed. The temps never vary much. I always assumed they were fixed, due to the fact that you can't adjust tire temp in R3E.

Yeah think they just use wear and you can pick up dirt if you go offroading. Tire compounds are supposed to be coming soon so it will be interesting to see how that works. Nice lap at Silverstone that was crazy fast! Ive got some work to do with the open wheels but I had a lot of fun running them last night. I ran the fr3 and fr us and had good races with both of them. Question can you use drs for leaderboard times? I never used it before and didn't even have it mapped until last week.

Thanks! I don't really do many leaderboard laps, but you guys got me curious, so I tried a few. :) I've always loved open wheel, but they're definitely more fun in VR. You're so low to the ground and exposed, it's awesome!
WTCC is the class I really need to practice with. Might try the upcoming competition. Round 1 quali starts tonight/tomorrow, I believe.

I don't either but seeing I suck with open wheels I wanted to see were I was time wise and saw you on the board in second. If I'm not mistaken I think that's pretty close to the record laptime in real life there. That's how I started liking the open wheel. When I switched to vr and tried a few of them. Its a completely different experience in vr with open wheel cars.
Biggest thing with the wtcc is be easy/smooth getting off the throttle and get the braking done early so you don't unsettle the car on turn in and right back to the throttle. Not how you drive a open wheel lol.

Not at all. Corner entry is where I need to improve with that class.

I think that's why I have a harder time with the open wheels. Open wheel stuff you brake so late or in some cases just brush the brakes if you want to turn a really fast lap. Doing what I said above should help with corner entry with the wtcc cars. Try to get the braking done while your still straight you wont get away with much if any trail braking. At least not if you want to keep the rear of the car behind you.:p

Got 8th on the leaderboards with ruf gt2 at brands hatch which definitely isn't one of my favorite tracks. I hate that first downhill corner it can kill a lap before you even get started. Theres definitely more left though.

I still cant get any faster with the formula us. I even looked up a laptime at Silverstone to see what I'm doing wrong. Hey did you catch the first round of formula qualifying? Man that guy pounded the wall when he lost it after just touching the rumble strips a little too much coming back on the front straight. I don't feel so bad when I do it knowing professional drivers do the same thing sometimes.

Good pace, man. I haven't tried Brands yet. I actually like that track. There are a couple tricky spots (braking zones at or in elevation changes), including that first turn. Those turns make it hard to be consistent at that track. I wish R3E had the GP version, as well. The Indy can be too short. I'll give that one a go soon.

Might be a braking and downforce thing--getting used to finding the limits. I know I was surprised by how much more grip I was finding in some of those corners. Try testing corners--braking later and/or less--to see if you can pickup any time. The one that surprised me was Maggots. You can actually take that one flat out, and then just come off the throttle and brush the brakes for the first part of Becketts. If you take that complex absolutely right, you can actually hold 5th gear coming out of Becketts and into Chapel (last turn opening to the straight). 8 out of 10 times, I mess up between exiting Maggots and entering Becketts. Not in a major way, usually just by bleeding off too much speed going into Becketts. But that little bit can cost a lot of time, because Chapel is a flat out corner, so the end of Becketts is actually what I consider the start of Hangar Straight. Whatever time you loose (or gain) in that complex, will be multiplied out down that straight. A bad exit, could easily cost you .500 or more. Turn 4 is another one that's really technical. There's really only one way to take that corner well, and since turn 5 is a flat out corner, turn 4 is the actual lead to that next straight.
Been busy getting ready for the move. I haven't watched any practice or quali this weekend. Gonna watch the race later this afternoon. One good thing about moving, I've got to take the rig apart. Now that I play in VR, I can adjust the seating position to VR for a more realistic seating position, instead of setting the wheel deck to work with the screen position. :)
Was practicing with the WTCC cars yesterday and realized the Volvo is trickier than the a few of the others. The Lada was a lot easier to handle. But the Volvo seems far more prone to lift-off oversteer than the others I tried.

I think that might be my issue with the us. I'm not comfortable through that section and I'm not in 5th coming off. I'm wide open in sixth at the first part but I don't get the last 2 parts of the turn exactly right and end up using 4th gear. The civic is really balanced. The Volvo gives you pucker moments when braking but if you can get comfortable with it I think it turns better.

I think fourth gear is good coming out of Becketts, transitioning to 5th as you enter Chapel. It's actually rare that I run through Becketts in 5th. When I do, it's a low 5th, good torque, just definitely the lower end of the gear. Come to think of it, it's very possible I set that time without taking Becketts in 5th. To be honest, when I do take it in 5th, I usually feel like I've entered the first of Becketts too fast for the exit, and I'm desperately trying to bleed off some speed before I have to turn in to the second part of the corner. I think the only reason I keep it in 5th in those cases is I'm scared I'll unsettle the car downshifting.
That's one of the hard things about Becketts. You can come into the first part of the corner with way more speed than you can actually carry through the second part of it. So you can either sandbag it, and carry less into the first section (that can be good in a race situation, just not so much for quali or time trials) or you practice using that small patch of track in the middle of Becketts's two sections where the car is straight for a split second. It's just enough time to tap the brakes and bleed off the little bit you need to enter the next section. That patch of track is also about the same time the car's weight is shifting from right to left. The weight is just about in the middle at that time, and your downforce is high, so you can really kick the brakes hard. That also throws the weight forward, helping turn-in for the second half of Becketts. Just when the back-end feels like it's going to step out, you hit the apex and get back on throttle, throwing the weight back on the rears. Then all you have to do is manage the understeer as you power through Chapel and on to the straight. :)

I think that's my biggest problem with the open wheel cars. I'm trying to drive them like other cars when I use the brake and with all the added down force at speed you can be a lot more aggressive in a open wheeler. I'm not far off I'm just off.lol Worst part is its a hard habit to adjust.

That's how I feel about WTCC. They're like completely different animals when it comes to throttle and brake control. I spent some more time with them yesterday and finally started turning consistent laps with the Volvo and Lada yesterday. Pace is still barely mid-grid competitive, but at least the laps are consistent. So, now I can start experimenting. :)

Sooo Far Soo Good... Im Pretty impressed... All the Cars i've trud in R3E Drive Really well...and super Easy to set up... all i do is adjust the DOR per Car and thats that No suspension tuning...i like High DOR so the steering is 1 to 1... The Gt3 Mustang is a Beast!!!
R3E cars Must have been developed By Many Different Teams/Modders ETC because the DOR is all over the Place From Car Class to car Class ... Some stop at 18, 20 and 1 calss even goes up to 40 hich is way too Much i set that class to 20 and its spot on!!!
also Tried iRacing in VR and its Not bad.... tested Laguna Seca with i guess what would be the Ford Falcon V8 super car... the Track does Not feel Textured like Pcars, R3E there is No Real Road Feel... But maybe My FFB settings were Off??? Shrugggs... I still Have 1 month iRacing left Dunno if im Going to renew it.
Question??? is there a setting where you can see Pedal inputs on screen in R3E???
Edit: I downloaded the Dedicated server for R3E and Assetto Corsa....We Need to set up a private Lobby for "VR Racing only"... Let Me know i will set it up and we can do it... I have pretty good internet speed and it wont cost extra to leave it running even when im Not online.

Honestly, I've only adjusted the DOR on a couple cars, and it was only a few increments. The rest are all fine. They just require a little adjustment in terms of steering input.
PCars road texture feels artificial to me, more like noise in the FFB, than any relevant information about the track. But I still feel the track texture in AC, and R3E just fine. I haven't played iRacing in a while, and even when I was playing, I've only driven on a few tracks, but don't recall anything lacking in road texture--different maybe, but nothing missing. I actually think the reason people look to get so much road feel from PCars is to compensate for the frictionless feeling of the FFB. Sounds like you might need to tweak your FFB settings in R3E.
Not sure if there's a pedal input app. I thought I had one, but I think I'm confusing R3E with rF2.
Do you need to run a dedicated server to set up a private session? I've never tried to create a session in R3E. I thought I did in AC, once, but maybe I'm wrong. You can't just create an MP session, like you do in PCars?
Edit: If you do need a dedicated server, can you run the server and play simultaneously on the same PC?

Honestly, I've only adjusted the DOR on a couple cars, and it was only a few increments. The rest are all fine. They just require a little adjustment in terms of steering input.
Sorry i Ment to say Steering Lock is all over the place:hopelessness:.... I let the Game Auto set DOR and i adjust only Steering Lock.
The Proper Stering Lock makes a Huge Difference.
The FFB and Road Texture in R3E feels Fine... Really Natural.

I looked i didnt see a option to create a Room... But maybe i missed something... If i make a dedicated server i can Race in the Room as well... I will set a pass word for the server so it will only be accesable to those that know it.
I should be able to have a Dedicated server and Race on same PC... I dont see why Not... But if for any reason it cant be done No big problem i have 2 PC's same room both within arms reach...will Make it on the PC i WEB surf on and Log in to Race from My gaming PC and its Race On!!!
Im pretty sure it can be done i ran a Dedicated server for the first XBox way back when and it was just a matter of Clicking Myself out of spectator mode and i was back in the game.

I figured you meant steering lock. Steering lock in R3E works similar to Steering Ratio in other sims. The higher the value, the more you turn the wheel. Lower values, result in a tighter ratio.

Cool. Do it. Set one up. I'd hook up to run a few. Although, I'll be breaking the rig down after this coming weekend and won't be back online until after the move. But if you get it up this week, I'd join, and then obviously after my move.

That was absolutley Brilliant how they set up Steering Lock... That Makes it sooo Much more Simple for people to get the steering dialed in for their wheels!!! Fanatec with larger rim sizes will use a Higher Steering Lock than wheels with Smaller Rim sizes...at the Default steering Lock the steering feels lazy and slow with many cars... Not to mention the New Fanatec line up has very sensitive steering input/ Higher # of Recognized points of steering input.

I've never used it based on rim size. I only adjust steering ratio/steering rack if I find myself scrubbing the crap out of my tires and/or tripping oversteer at turn-in because the turning angle is too quick. But, like I said, I've only had to adjust it in one or two cars. The rest seem fine to me, even the open wheelers. The only thing I adjust per car is the FFB gain.

What ever works best... that proves that the dial in your FFB settings work:o
For me because i don't tune the cars i try to get the steering as close to 1 to 1 as possible...Sooo far the default suspension feels really good and I have No plans to tune cars at this time...maybe when i get deeper into the game...I don't set the DOR i let the game do that...I set the Steering lock per Car/Car Class because EX: GT3 class default steering Lock is 13...Steering Lock this low for me makes the car feel unresponsive to Me...yes they turn but it feels lazy and very late.
Edit: i also adjust Steering Gain per Car.... I have the FFB set Nicely:yes:... it didn't take long to figure out... Its basicly the same thing i did with Pcars FFB... set the Globals to avoid Clipping then 1 FFB to Rule them all----> adjust in car masters per Car if Needed...Hmmm in car Masters/ FFB Gain Seems like the same Method IMO.

Laguna Seca GT3 Z4 1:24.300!!! that put me at 6th:cool: and still using stock tune:very_drunk: Get Real difficulty!!!
I can probably get it to 1:23.xxx i pulled back a tad the last 2 corners just to stick the lap!!!

Because they are. The only thing off on PCars, compared to other sims is the global FF setting. Take that away, and you have the same gain options as other sims--Master Gain in the control pane and an in-car gain.

I'm 5th with a 1:24.2XX--stock setup. I could definitely get a 1:23.XXX. I run through S1 with a -.200 or more delta, then lose it somewhere between S2 and S3. I think I'm losing a tenth in a couple places, and it just adds up. I wasn't doing that before. It'll probably go away. I just get bored with hot lapping after a bit. No other cars on the track.
Also, I had just started my second beer when I went into the Leaderboard. :)

The Track i Really want to master is Macau!!! Thats a beast of a track!!! Very Challenging.
I havent even begun to really Race yet... Im still Fresh only got it set up and working right a few days ago so im still just exploring... I dont even have My buttons mapped good yet...LOL
i made the online server but Now i have to go open ports in My router to see if it then lets Me join My own server....as it is i cant join... Not even off the other PC im going to have to make a 2nd account... Cant be logged into steam from 2 PC's at 1 time.

Try paul riccard with all those lines. Who designed that? It makes it so hard to concentrate on the track and where you should be going. I think I made 2 laps and said f this.lol Not having my buttons mapped bit me in the ass the other night. Ive been doing longer races lately like 20-30 laps and at least 20 cars so you can actually settle in and win or at least get close with consistent laps not just 2 fast ones. I think I was using the formula us and didn't realize it didn't hold enough fuel to make it that far. When crew chief came on and told me I only had so much fuel left I thought no big deal ill just pit because I was out in front already. Well that would have worked out perfect if I had the buttons mapped...I couldn't change or pick anything so I was screwed.lol I don't know if you guys have done any longer races but I really like them over a shorter 10 lap sprint.

Yeah... the hot laps are quickly getting old. Laguna is a track I hardly ever drive, I think I've only tried it a few times in PCars. For some reason, I don't really like that track much.
Macau is the last circuit in the WTCC championship. I was going to get into that one, but the first race is on my moving weekend, and I'm not even sure I'll be fully setup by the second race. Then I'm traveling most of May, so I'd miss at least two more races there. Hopefully, the next eSport championship is a class I like. I am looking forward to breaking the rig completely down and rebuilding it again. Time to adjust a few things that were bothering me. :)
Did you check to see if you even needed the dedicated server to setup a private session? That seems like it would be a limiting restriction.

Definitely not a fan of that track...LOL. Same happened to me with the mappings. I got stuck in the pits, and blew a podium finish. I've not got pit controls mapped to one of my wheel's analogs sticks. Long races are the best. You can settle in and be strategic, but you also have to be consistent for a much longer time, which is difficult, because tire wear become an your grip levels change quite a bit. That's real racing. :)

Ran a few laps before heading out to work, found that .200 I was losing last night and set a 1:24.005. So close to breaking into the 1:23s. :dejection:
Definitely better when I haven't been drinking. :) Maybe morning quickies are best suited for hotlaps, since I only have a 20-30 minutes to spare.

Nice!!! Dunno Maybe i will have a Go at it later... I coulda had it if i had Kept Pushing for it... I lost alot in the last 2 turns trying to just Stick the Lap... I had it the 2 prior laps and lost it in the last 2 turns being Greedy... I also was Sipping Brandy waiting to watch Better Call Sol on AMC...so i just took what i could get and called it for the Night...But.Sooo Dam Close... Its almost like Giving up on yourself Not to break the 1:23.xxx mark.

The first corner and the last corner are the ones where I lose time. The rest are all pretty easy to hit. But the first turn, if you're braking is off (too late or too hard), you lose big time. And the last corner, whatever you lose or gain there is multiplied down the final straight, which is uphill to boot. Take the last corner well, and you will make good time in the final stretch. But the tricky thing about that last corner is, you have to stick it twice, once at the start of the hotlap, so you cross the starting line at optimal speed, and then again at the end of the hotlap, so you don't lose time in the final stretch.

Its funny I don't even notice I'm adjusting as the tires wear. Until the tires get real bad and it catches you off guard usually coming off a corner. That's the thing I like with longer races is I can settle in and just click off laps. Yeah I may blow a corner once in a while but usually its because I'm searching and then its just back to turning laps.

I hope they don't fix the clarity part because it looks really really good now. If you ignore the out of synch part id say it looks as good as any other game.
Why would they push the beta live when the last 2 attempts have screwed up games? Brain spasm maybe? Hit the wrong button? Just want to screw with us?

It's possible the clarity was the result of the eyes not being synced. The 3D sync does cause a slight blurring as the two images merge. Since the problem is that the eyes are out of sync, it might make the images appear clearer. Also, the menus aren't 3D, which might also explain why they looked clearer. IDK, though...I'm just speculating. I'm just glad Valve reverted back to the old build. They need to get their s#it together.

That's what I mean, though. You're comparing an unsynchronized one-eyed non 3D view with a synced two-eyed 3D view. I think it just looks clearer because there's no blending.

I forgot about it being two images basically laid over each other. If they ever figure out how to get it more optimized it going to look really good even with the stuff we have now. I can only imagine what it will look like in a couple years.

The next-gen headset Oculus is developing is going to use something kind of focal point technology that basically monitors your eyes from inside the headset, and renders the area you're focusing on at a higher resolution than the areas you aren't focused on. This is very similar to how the human works anyway, and significantly reduces the graphic load on the GPU, because a significant portion of the render will be at lower resolutions. The technology should work great for any title, but probably even better for sims, since everything in your peripheral is whizzing by at high speed anyway.
If they can get the above tech working well, and reduce or eliminate the screen door effect (which they seem confident they can do), then the image quality of the next-gen headsets is going to be amazing.

Valve rolled back the update. Early this morning. Thank god. :)
And it just keeps getting better.

For me, rF2 and AMS have the best feeling FFB, so smooth with incredible dynamic range. When that updates hits (assuming it's not jacked up), it might become my one and only...LOL. There's tons of mods, which will all be updated soon, as well as more content created, and it has dynamic weather transitions. It'd be great to tide me over until PCars2. :)

I have read that the update requires many if not all drivers to be installed again. Some of those are done automatically, others you'll have to do manually apparently (e.g. the Fanatec driver).

Mine updated this morning. Everything seemed fine after the restart (*knock on wood*), but I only checked the Fanatec device profiles. I didn't start/try any games. But that's a good sign that your issue might be a simple fix, like a corrupted driver or something.

Your prob it finds your SDD but Not the HDD because thats where your OS is but Not your HDD.... Look in this Computer You should find it in there.... I firget exactly how though... Your gonna have to tell the PC its there again like when you first built the PC. you may have to Name it again.

If the drive was disconnected during the update, it might have been remapped with a different drive letter. That would screw up all the old paths and orphan all your shortcut icons.
Check the Device Manager to see if it's still being detected. Also, you can try this, which might be a quick fix... disconnect the drive internally, then reboot the machine. Then shutdown, reconnect the drive, and boot it up. With any luck, it'll recognize it as a new device and reinstall it. It's not a guarantee, but it's such a simple thing to do, you might as well try it to see if it works. If it worked, it might assign the drive a different letter. But once the drive is being detected, you can always change the drive letter later.
It wasn't but I couldn't find it anywhere last night when I looked for it. I was going to try unplugging it tonight and plugging it back and see what happened. I didn't think I had to install anything with that when I built it. Just plug it in and name it.

Just make sure you reboot between a couple times, before you plug it back in.

Yeah I don't know I rebooted it a couple times last night. I have a feeling things went horribly wrong during the update. It said it had an error but kept on going so there was nothing I could do at that point except see what happened and deal with it. Its all good again so I'm happy.

I always have shut mine off. Ive never had a ps4 fail and ive had then since the first week they came out way back when. Yes the very first ones. Same goes for the computer I see no reason to leave it on sucking up dust if I'm not using it. Ive never had a pc fail either so thats how I do it. If its on I'm sitting in front of it.:)
Grimey r3e definitely looks better. You can actually read the dash easily now. Did you guys opt in for the rift beta? I did so far so good. I'm liking the new windows update with the gaming mode that is on by default. There a lot less stuff running now. So I'm not sure why r3e looks better because it could be any of the three things at this point. Pick one of the 3 updates or maybe a combination of all of them.lol I haven't got a chance to try anything else yet.

Do you guys shut them down at times or let them sleep all the time. For PC i let Mine Sleep and power cycle it once a week or if i Need to reset something.
From what i understand its better to let PC's Sleep unless your going to be away from it for a Long time--->Weeks... this way your Not jolting it with Current every time you turn it back on... this way theoreticaly give the PC parts a longer Life span...also this is More OS friendly because you dont get hit with massive amounts of updates at 1 time which can screw things up in the OS.

I shut it down when I know I'm done for the day. With SSDs there are no moving parts in the HDD, so you don't have to worry about boot-wear over time. Plus, nothing like a restart to flush the pipes. :)

Honestly, I've never heard anything about jolting the PC with current when you turn it on. In fact, a uncontrolled surge would actual damage the PC, which is why surge protectors are recommended. :) In the past, with HDDs, the problem has always been the scrubbing of the drive platter when the PC boots up. Regular HDDs were subject to wear, due to their moving parts, so the recommendation was to only reboot once or week, or when needed. I can't remember, whether the PS4 is HDD or SSD. If it's the latter, then boot-wear isn't an issue.

Actually I know your thinking. But that's old school thinking from when the solder joints came apart from heat cycling. They used to tell you it was better to leave your pc on because of that. Things have gotten a lot better with manufacturing processes and I don't see any reason to leave it on anymore.

For Me I just Rather set the PC in Sleep mode... There have been and will always be debates on this matter but what it really boils down to is indvidual preference....
Surge protectectors have Nothing to do with initial PC start up... They are there protect againts Random Power Spikes/Drops in your House electrical system... Thunderstorms, Blackouts etc....a Electrical Power Cleaner for PC or like the ones they use for High end Home theater system May actually offer some PC start up protection because the Power is Filtered before being sent to the PC... a Good High end power Cleaner will have Specific labeled outlets for PC, Monitor/ TV that provide diffenet levels of Filtering that may offer protection during Device Start up:yes: Surge protectors and power Cleaners are 2 different things.

That's true either way probably works. But your powers supply should supply clean stable power and if it doesn't it and your pc are probably screwed anyways.lol
Any of you guys turned around in an open wheel? The tires aren't modeled they look two oil drums.lol At least in both of the lotus 49 models.

Power should always be Stable but Very Rarely is it Clean... There is always a tad bit of Static in there that could or Should be filtered out....This is Very Common with older Houses... Newer Houses its Not such a big deal but even then still Not Pure/Clean but more than older House's.

No pcars. I got wrecked by the ai. Big surprise. Anyways I couldn't move and crew chief said I was basically screwed. So I figure I wonder what it looks like? To my surprise I didn't have tires but to big black barrels where the tires should be. So I tried it again before getting wrecked and they looked the same. I wonder if all the open wheel cars are like that? Maybe before vr they figured you couldn't see them so why bother?

I think your worrying about stuff you don't need to worry about. If you have a decent surge protector none of that should be any real issue. New houses arent wired any different then old houses other then the wire that's used now. Its still copper wire just with a different outer cover. Even most old houses have the extra ground by now for the 3 prong plug. Honestly I think people make a bigger deal out of static then it really is. I remember back in the day they told you to wear ground straps on your wrist when changing eproms and pcms in cars. Ive never done it ever and have never ruined a chip or pcm. Same goes for building a pc.They used to tell you to do the same thing. Even the videos from the manufactures tell you it isn't necessary. Just build it on the cardboard box it came in and use common sense. You know don't go drag you feet all over the carpet in the winter and jump right into building your pc.lol

Yeah. I saw that once. Can't remember which car, but I think it was a tin top, and the wheel wells were just solid. I was in a car the other day that didn't have a seat. My body and legs were just hovering above the floorboard. :)
Edit: Oh, I kind of thought you were talking about R3E. That's where I had no seat. I thought the solid wheel wells were in R3E, maybe I saw it in PCars.

You should Try saving a Replay in VR then watch it as you Stand up and Look around ...i have done this in the Gt3 Ruf feels Crazy... Make sure you have something to touch and keep yourself balanced and centered when you look down feels as if the ground is moving underneath your feet:p

Yeah like at the end of a race in r3e and the camera keeps changing. I always think its a good thing I'm sitting down. lol I actually think that's one of the best parts of vr. It tricks your brain into thinking you can feel things you really cant. Ever lose it in a corner and roll backwards? You get the same sensation like when youre at a red light and the car next to you is a stick and rolling and you think you are and press on the brake harder until you realize its the car next to you moving. I get turning the stuff down/off in vr if it makes you sick but I love it.

Don't tell your wife youre looking at another rear end.:p

Yeah they are still crazy. I figured 2tb was enough for me because I only play racing games. I had looked at the ssd and I forget what the even newer stuff is called but its still crazy money. Id rather get the gtx1080ti for the kind of money the storage costs. The only thing on my hdd is steam and my games so even if it died it wouldn't be a huge problem except for having to re download everything. Anything that is a program and important is on my ssd thats why I bought a bigger one.

Question with RG3 steering rack setting.... what exactly is the purpose of this setting and what do you set it to??? i really cant find a sweet spot with this setting...100% feels best... 0 feels good but nothing in between seems to be a good fit the FFB feels really spongy...It feels as if this setting is trying to add SOP feel but i don't like the feel of it... any ideas or recommended setting for this setting.
Pcars is based on pure steering Rack forces correct??? but i can feel the Tire flex also i get that through mostly SOP.

It's what the label says, "Percentage of forces derived from the steering rack." If you set it to zero, the lateral forces are from the tire only. When I first start playing R3E, I had Steering Rack set to zero, but after watching a video about R3E settings, I tried the recommended 100, and that's where it's been since. I like it better. Same goes for Understeer and Slip Effect. You get mixed opinion about these. But I find that using them appropriately, they actually allow you to run a higher in-car gain, because the wheel lightens on oversteer and understeer. If those are set to low, the wheel just loads up under cornering with no slip effect to relieve the load, so you have to run lower in-car gains to compensate. It might feel strange at first, but once you get used to it, it's more informative, IMO.
Ok I'll try performance mode tonight as well. No it's not overclocked well I don't think it is I didn't ask him to overclock it and he didn't say it was.
I just plugged the USB stick for the mouse and keyboard in and it worked so I didn't do anything with drivers or anything. Not sure if there is already one on there or not because the mouse and keyboard worked when plugged in.
I have internet just not a lot of data on my plan I know I'll get caught out when an auto update happens and prob got over my data limit.

going to transfer all my games to the 4TB HDD and use the 1 TB HDD for videos and PC back up space:o
Them fools at micro center don't like $$$ i woulda paid to do it...they talking about 4Days!!! it took me 1 hour to get it done....Yes i know to take it there woulda been a waste of $$$ but i just like the peace of mind to have warranty... I never did a PC build before so i guess i was lacking confidence that i could do it and not break nothing:p...but as i do it the easier it gets..PC upgrading/Building its Not that hard at all...not nearly as complex as i thought it was:eagerness:

Its not hard once your past the fear factor and realize anything you do you can undo. Just make sure you format the drives correctly or they use the old windows 8 format. It will still work but it will be slower. Ask me how I know.lol And changing them back after is a pain in the butt. I'm slowly figuring all this stuff out though. I just figured out the other day if you get driver errors you can click on it or google the number and there is a list of definitions just like a car.:)

Probably because you've been playing something else for a while now and its more noticeable to you after going back.

That's really the only way you notice it--having something to compare it to. At least that's how it was with me. When I first switched to PC, everything felt fine. My settings ported over from console, and just felt better on PC. It wasn't until after I came back to PCars after weeks away playing other sims that I noticed the frictionless feel of it.
Tried the Audi TT from the 2015 pack in R3E. I bought a while back, but never got around to trying it. Man, is that a fun drive.
Been practicing with the WTCC classes. The braking in those cars is just so different from the other classes I usually drive. The adaptive AI seems to think I'm as good in WTCC as I am in other classes. Challenge accepted. :) But first, I think I'm going to play around with the TT for a while. :)
Did you ever get your pc up and running?
Pc seams to work fine on the tv it's just vr that plays up. AC and raceroom play up straight away and pcars still lasts about 25 minutes then plays up but i can still go into the dream deak demo that come with the rift and that plays fine even the steam vr tutorial works fine.

It will wind up being something stupid probably. One thing checked that should or shouldn't be. I just spent a week and most of Saturday trying to figure out why I couldn't get crew chief ,the buttkicker and the game sound to all work at the same time. Just had to mirror the sound in steam vr too. I totally forgot about that and it must have got unchecked in one of the updates because I had it working before.

I hope so. Iv found out from a friend that a guy that lives an hour away has got 2 rifts and a motion walk platform thing. Hopefully I can catch up with him this week and he might be able to help me.
Have yous heard of tv loosing signal when displaying in 4K? My lg does it after closing out of some games pcars does it all the time ac raceroom rf2 do it some times but not much. Iv tryed my older tv and it doesn't drop out on that but that's only 1080. Also on my 4K tv it doesn't do it if i use a display port but that only displays at 1080 as well.
When it drops out i turn my tv off and on then the picture is back

Might be caused by the resolution changing. Sometimes, depending on the TV and your settings, when you close the session, there's a break in the signal as it adjusts the resolution. Some TVs timeout as soon as the signal is lost. I think it's more common on 4K TVs that run PC connections at UHD resolution (3840 × 2160), instead of the native 4K resolution of 4096 × 2160.

Very Strange... are you sure all your Wires from PC to the TV are Good??? and also that they are Sufficient to carry a 4k Signal??? You may have a faulty wire set.
Also dont Rule out that the Oculus Rift could be defective!!!.My first Oculus unit was No Good!!! It worked but every time you took the Head set off you had to Reboot the Oculus software to get it working again.... First thing to check would be Make sure the Plug that connects to the Head set is Firmly snapped in Place.... they made it so that the plug can come out just incase you ever Need to change it....its like a HDMI cable.... You may have loosend it while putting Head set on and off.

Iv tryed 2 new cables that are for 4K. It doesn't do it once im in the game or racing only going back to the desktop. Closing steam crewchife msi afterburner its fine just closing games.
Yea it could be the headset but i would of thought if it was the headset it would do it all the time like ac and raceroom. The only reason i don't think it is the headset is because after it starts stuttering in pcars i can exit pcars take the headset off load up dreamdeak watch that and there's no stuttering load pcars back up and there's stuttering straight away watch dreamdeak again and no stuttering. But i could be wrong as im still learn about pc's
Hopefully i can catch up with this guy and I'll even see if we can do a swap for a day and try that to make sure it's not the headset.
I tryed to find the post about the adaptive ai in raceroom but couldn't find it again. Was there a file i have to delete or something to get it work properly. Iv done about 5 10 lap races but most time there about 2 seconds off my lap times?

Being you just installed the game you shouldn't have to do that. You did set the ai to adaptive right? If its set on a number they don't learn.

From what you've mentioned, it seems that you're going back and forth in the game, switching between VR and regular viewing mode. Question, are you adjusting the graphics settings when you do this, or are you using the same settings for VR that you use for regular view? Also, have you tried reducing the graphics settings to the lowest, to see if it's still stuttering? If not, that's the first thing you should try now to compare.
In the windows setting i have it on 3840 × 2160 it says that's recommended. Should i set it to 4096 × 2160.
That should be fine, if that's what windows recommends. What's the resolution set for in-game? The screen/resolution resetting when transitioning from game session to menu is normal. How your TV handles that signal break can vary. What type of TV do you have? Do you have a PC monitor you can use/try for reference right quick?
Slower the last race I did I won by heaps and iv been doing tracks i know so i shouldn't be getting that much faster
Maybe delete the adaptive file and start again. It shouldn't take that long for them to adapt. It won't be perfect after one race, but after a couple you shouldn't be winning by heaps. The file is in the My Documents folder in a sub directory called SimBin. I think the SimBin folder is in a My Games folder (or something like that). It's a level deeper than the other titles, IIRC. Make sure you run at least a 10 lap race. When you're done, check the adaptive file to see if the "Last Modified" date has changed. In fact, before you delete it, check the modified date. Does it look like the day you did your last 10 lap race?
