Good news everyone,
the Patch 4.0 on PS4 has already gone live. Below you find the release notes.
Project CARS – PS4 Patch 4.0 – Release Notes
New & Enhanced Feature Summary
• Online – added support for 'Force Default Setups' in Multiplayer restrictions screen.
• Online – players driving the wrong way will now have their collision disabled and their vehicles will display as ghost cars.
• Online – lobby search settings are now saved between sessions.
• Career – mandatory pitstop opening lap will now scale when the player scales the length of the race. For example, if the race was set to 5 laps, the pits would open for
the mandatory stop on lap 2. If the player now scales the race length to 15 laps, the pits will open on lap 6 for the mandatory pitstop.
• HUD – when adjusting real-time settings, for example Brake Balance, the player will now see a HUD message to indicate what the setting has been changed to. The HUD will display “N/A” in the real-time settings HUD, messaging when a specific setting is not available due to it being disabled in MP session or not present on the vehicle.
• GUI – added a game version number display to the main menu.
• Assists – Enhanced Brake Assistance system so that people who are unable to use
brake controllers at all can still play the game with this assist enabled.
• Assists – the Best Line assist now provides an option to only show the braking areas
• Tracks - Movable trackside objects and broken-off car parts will now be removed from the track after impacts.
Online
• New – added support for 'Force Default Setups' in Multiplayer restrictions screen.

• Fixed an issue where the AI could remain stuck on the grid after the previous host left the session.
• Fixed an issue where the player was unable to select the Bentley GT3 in online races.
• Fixed an issue in Create Lobby where selecting Vehicle ‘view details’ would reset the class filter.
• Fixed an issue where the in-game chat box would scroll when the player pressed the accelerator and brake controls.
• Various tweaks to the behaviour of cars that are terminally damaged, and cars will no longer try to teleport to the garage if there are no pit lanes.
• Fixed an issue where the player could drive out of the garage again after retiring from a race.
• Further tweaks and improvements to the online lobby Car Class GUI – classes are now sorted alphabetically; changes are now only apply once the player accepts the new settings; ‘Create’ options defaults to ‘Any’ class; fixes an issue where the host would see only one vehicle in the quick vehicle chooser list if identical vehicles was
set to ‘yes’.
• Fixed the rolling start option so that toggling the rolling start flag correctly updates MP game data.
Time Trial
• The standings info on the pause screen now shows real-time updated lap and standings info, and sorts the order of all active participants based on lap times.
• Fixed an issue where the player's best of session ghost time didn’t always exactly match his actual best of session time.
Pitting, Tuning, Setups, Strategy
• Fixed an issue where a selected tyre option saved to a setup prior to Patch 3.0 would cause a game crash after applying Patch 3.0 and using that saved setup.
• Fixed an issue where tyre pressures were not resetting properly when returning to pits.
• Fixed an issue where brake temperatures were being reset when the player entered the pits, leading to unexpected braking behaviour.
• Adjustments to fuel calculations when returning to pits during a practice session – when calculating the required fuel when the player returns to the pits, the estimated fuel levels are used for consistency.
Physics & AI
• Tyres – small adjustment to peak slip ratio or P Zero Trofeo, Faretti Track, and other soft-track road tires for road cars.
• Various improvements to AI navigation when entering and leaving the pit boxes.
• Improved the transition from road to off-road as certain off-road surfaces caused too much jarring on the steering.
Cut Track / Off Track System
• Sakitto International – further tweaks to the downhill Esses, to keep the AI on track when attempting bad passes that were causing the AI to hit the exit barriers.
• Various tracks – Nordschleife, Greenwood Karting, Silverstone National, Dubai GP, Barcelona National, Nurburgring Sprint Short – cut-track improvements based on latest community feedback.
Career
• Fixed an issue where the player would be placed first on the grid of race two in a multi-race round, after being disqualified from the first race. Disqualified drivers will now be placed at the back of the grid.
• DLC Career Accolades are now only present if the appropriate DLC pack is installed. This fixes an issue where the player was unable to do 100% completion of accolades due to non-purchased DLCs accolades also being present.
• Fixed an issue where bonus points were not being awarded for Kart series and some invitational events.
• Fixed a bug where the invitational events that require winning team championships weren't always unlocking.
• DLC Career Accolades – translated (non-English) strings added for Invitational Accolade – 320 Touring Challenge
• Fix to make sure player is placed last after skipping/simulating, in races where the second-best qualifying time is used for grid placement for the 2nd race (this was affecting Formula Rookie, LMP1-3, GT5 and Touring races).
• New – mandatory pitstop opening lap will now scale as well when the player scales the length of the race. For example, if the race was set to 5 laps, the pits would open for the mandatory stop on lap 2. If the player now scales the race length to 15 laps, the pits will open on lap 6 for the mandatory pitstop
• Improved Contract system to allow for extra entry level contract awards when progressing to a new motorsport, or when only being offered a renewal for the current motorsport.
• Improved the AI logic during races with Mandatory pit stops so that they will pick a more optimal time to stop when there is also changing weather at play.
Audio
• Tweaks to the Ginetta GT3, Clio and Bentley Speed 8.
GUI, HUD, Telemetry
• New – when adjusting real-time settings, for example Brake Balance, the player will now see a HUD message to indicate what the setting has been changed to. The HUD will display “N/A” in the real-time settings HUD messaging when a specific setting is not available due to it being disabled in MP session or not present on the vehicle.
• New – added a game version number display to the main menu.
• New – the Best Line assist now provides an option to only show the braking areas.
• Rebalanced the point at which Forecast weather becomes Current weather in the UI display so that the info display changeover better matches what the player is seeing in-game.
• Track temperature is now displayed on all in-game menus.
• Fixed an issue where the Time Progression slider skipped every 2nd option when moving the slider left or right.
• Track temperature will now display correctly based on the unit system and language selected by the player.
• Fixed an issue where the tyre wear meters on the HUD telemetry screen were flipped for the right front and left rear tyres.
• Track Temperature and Weather information are now positioned uniformly across all in-game screens.
• Removed redundant leading zeros from the KERS motec display.
• Fixed an issue where accessing the map or telemetry in the monitor screen would disable the player HUD in game.
• Enabled scrolling of the drivers list on the post race Standings screen.
• Vehicle Class icons – updated vintage F1 and vintage GT class icons.
• New GUI image with real-world livery for Ford Capri Group5.
• Fixed an issue where the menu borders would at times display unintended colours.
Replays
• Replays – fixed an issue where vehicle damage would automatically be repaired when watching a replay.
Controls & FFB
• Steering wheel angle now reverted to always centering during pause / pits / menus / etc. An alternative fix is now implemented to prevent the jolting when un-pausing the game.
• Fixed an issue where force feedback was still active when an AI team mate was driving the player’s car.
• Fixed an issue where calibrating the pedals could at times cause the pedals to function incorrectly.
• Logitech – updated pedal mappings for the G29 to match the latest hardware revisions.
• Fanatec – added use of accelerator rumble on CSW Base v2.
• Fanatec – CSR Elite 2nd dpad removed (as per SDK change); handbrake now works when attached to pedals via wheel base; added support for CSP connected via USB.
• Fanatec – upgraded to SDK 1.6.1 – fixes reversing of the CSS shifter gear up / down sequential mode.
• Fixed an issue with the Fanatec CSS connected via USB to the PS4, the wheel paddles stopped functioning.
Vehicles
• Audi A1 Quattro – changed class to Road C2.
• Audi R18 e-tron – added hybrid/KERS readout to cockpit display.
• BAC Mono – fixed duplicate material name causing a problem on painted cockpit parts.
• BMW 2002 Turbo – tweaked default tyres and brake balance so that the default setup provides a better overall performance versus the other cars in its class.
• BMW 320TC – fixed the top speed statistic displayed in the front-end.
• Caterham SP300R – added push-to-pass boost gauge to cockpit display and enabled exhaust backfire.
• Ford Escort and Mustang 2+2 Fastback – tweaks to help reduce climbing other vehicles during side-to-side contact.
• Ford Mustang 2+2 Fastback – fix for shadow flicker on AI cars.
• Ford Capri Group5 – fixed offset rear fenders.
• Ford Mustang GT 2015 – reduced FFB tire force multiplier by 25%.
• Gumpert Apollo – re-added four exhausts.
• Marek/RWD LMP cars – improved the default view position.
• Ruf CTR – recalibrated engine boost and allow up to 1.4bar boost in setup to match original car. Stock boost of 1.1bar provides around 470hp as advertised.
• Added hybrid boost gauge to display for McLaren P1, Marek RP339h LMP1, RWD P30 LMP1.
• Ruf CTR – Fixed an issue where the external side mirrors were switched.
• Audi R18 e-tron – Rebalanced cockpit exposure/brightness.
Tracks
• Le Mans – lowered the entry part of the kerb in the Mulsanne corner to fix the issue where cars would register a collision with the kerb.
General
• New – movable trackside objects and broken-off car parts will now be removed from the track after impacts.
• Enhanced Brake Assistance system so that people who are unable to use brake controllers at all can still play the game with this assist enabled.
• Reworked the stretched headlight reflections to be more accurate to real life.
• Fixed an issue where the Driving Line assist would become invisible when particles were set to off.
• Ensure that players cannot turn on assists using hotkeys in community events, when the assists have been explicitly disabled for the event in question.
• Fix further cases where the pre-race cameras would at times cut into the track surface.
• Fixed an issue where vehicle windows would at times not render correctly when using centre cockpit cam and helmet cam.
• Tweaks to gamma settings to closer match the PC and Xbox One platforms.
• Fixed a potential crash when returning from in-game to main menu.
• Fixed an issue with the rendering of shadow edges, improving overall shadow rendering.
• Improved general game stability.

This Is great being able to see what the adjustments are. I've only tried the Oreca Nissan, but I could not find where the ARB settings are shown on the hud. I found the brake balance display on the tire/break temp page.
Where do I find the ARB display, or is there no display for the roll bars.

This will show as a little pop-up on the screen when you adjust it, not on car display.
How long does this take?
Roughly a minute I think. When I tested it the debris was gone the next lap.

Oh, ok. I did see the onscreen message pop up with the "I" for increase and "D" for decrease value. I was just expecting to see the actual value shown on screen somewhere like it shows brake balance. As it is now you still have to remember how many times you pressed the ARB button and correlate that to the values shown in the setup menu. Maybe next update they can display ARB values in the hud.

Please try setting the anti-roll bar (arb) in the Formula A, as it is one of the few cars we have in game that allow for adjusting the arbs during driving. It shows the actual value.
If a car can't change its arb while driving it displays "N/A" (not available).

I just tried the F1 car, sorry, but I cannot see the ARB values in the hud,motec or telemetry anywhere. There seems to be a blank motec screen in the FA, perhaps this is supposed to show ARB values?
Also, noticed while doing thes tests that the game seems to run a little smother overall. Keep the improvements coming, good work.

No it isnt. Just tried it. It says "B" if you move the brake balance forth and back (you see the value in the MoTec though, where available).
Would be perfect if we could see the actual values set instead of the currently displayed characters in the future :angel:

A staff member has mentioned that this feature will never make it into the game.
No idea how the roll bar HUD is supposed to help. I get a d and a I flash up but what does that mean ? It just seems like a confirmation that a key has been pressed. Without knowing the value what's the point exactly ?
Am I missing something ?

I see lot's and lot's of requests for ability for online host to KICK player with bad behavior, wrecking and other MAYHEM.
Any progress on this ?

I love the changes to mandatory pitstops. It always used to bug me being called into the pits on lap 2 of a 33 lap race, and every lap after that if you didn't pit.

Not necessarily is "overdone = issue" ... in this case imo its not overdone much ... actually out of 30 races i have 1nce a collision which this is a very short problem. Just race clean and fair and search for such a league / group. :D
"Unlikely" means "probably not" :P

Unfortunately the option seems to have no effect at all atm. Tested it few minutes back to answer your question, as I was curious how this point was solved.
Default Setup: Yes
Driving Aids: Realistic
Damage, Flags: all on
Track: Watkins Glen GP
Car: Audi R8 GT3
I had a setup for that car and for that track before. Its still there. I can change values, save them etc. The effect remains through all sessions. In the race my setup is on the car also.
So basically, the option is there, but has no effect.
Am I doing something wrong? Do I have to delete my savegame/profile to make all v4.0 changes active/work?

A huge +1 on that request. But if I remember the previous conversation correctly, Ian didn't like this because he was "saving on every corner" or something like that... that's his problem tho, some OCD people want to play games like that, fine, let them :boxing:
But really, an easy and fair middle ground is to only allow saves when you enter the pits. It would yield a huge time disadvantage if you're abusing it... but it's perfect for endurance racing if you at least get out and wear out a set of tires.
If nothing else, this should be considered because without it TM wheel users are screwed... we can't (aren't supposed to) suspend the system during the race. Supposedly it's bad for the wheel or something.
These patch notes look awesome tho... I'm bummed that I'm out of town for a week and won't get to try it. :(

It really has been minimized. Not totally extincted, but minimized to a level I can live with. Been in a public lobby with lots of ppl joining/quitting. I could drive almost without noticing the lag. Very pleased with the improvement! Thanks SMS!

Come on, this would be awesome!!!!! An actual marshal running out to pick up the parts. Yellow flag in that zone, or even a safety car. Yellow flags could be policed by monitoring the sector time to make sure the driver slows enough!!!! Do it SMS, do it!!!!! :eagerness:

Why are you assuming l'm not driving clean? Have you ever raced against me?
I organize a league and after every race we have at least one complaint about cars glueing together.
Its actually very unrealistic, no cars glue together in real life when they have door-to-door contact, trying to go through a corner together.

Yes, you can now connect your CSPs through USB on PS4.
EDIT But it only works in combination with Fanatec wheels, not with other brand wheels, sorry.

Can I please ask why support for the second dpad was removed? I've just bought a (very expensive) Formula rim for my CSRE, and the extra controller mapping that the second dpad allowed was a big part of that decision. If it worked before, and wasn't hurting anyone... why remove it?
Consider me annoyed.

Reading the comments it sounds like the hud readouts for real time adjustments still need work. If that's the case, I hope it can be fixed asap. That's the main item I am really looking forward to.

I guess ghosting the trolls is the biggest improvement for online races.
Was that something that happened a lot?

I have an honest question, how hard is to implement adjustble on-the-fly traction control and ABS like the real GT3 cars have?
Being this a sim it does´t make sense that this feature is not available, especially with the beautiful dynamic wheather that it have.

You know you can map abs,tcs,stb to a button and turn them on/off while driving.

Great work on the patch SMS..
I have an honest question, how hard is to implement adjustble on-the-fly traction control and ABS like the real GT3 cars have?
Being this a sim it does´t make sense that this feature is not available, especially with the beautiful dynamic wheather that it have.
By that do you mean being able to turn them on and off while driving?
If so, you can do that.
You know you can map abs,tcs,stb to a button and turn them on/off while driving.

Great to see SMS still working away at making this game better but, why put all the effort into adjusting the Racing line to allow it to be made Braking only, but not give us a host option to disable it for online lobbies?

A huge +1 on that request. But if I remember the previous conversation correctly, Ian didn't like this because he was "saving on every corner" or something like that... that's his problem tho, some OCD people want to play games like that, fine, let them :boxing:
But really, an easy and fair middle ground is to only allow saves when you enter the pits. It would yield a huge time disadvantage if you're abusing it... but it's perfect for endurance racing if you at least get out and wear out a set of tires.
If nothing else, this should be considered because without it TM wheel users are screwed... we can't (aren't supposed to) suspend the system during the race. Supposedly it's bad for the wheel or something.
These patch notes look awesome tho... I'm bummed that I'm out of town for a week and won't get to try it. :(
I think Ian or a SMS staff said that we might get some sort of pits save as it is more doable than midgame save. Midgame save needs a lot more work to do because you need the game to save a lot of data when you save as you are moving.
I wont mind if we get mid game pits save. That would be nice where I can have actual 24 hours races that is stretched over a month. :P

Yesterday I had a fully functioning F1 rim with twin joysticks to enable mapping for all the essential functions that an F1 driver needs - KERS, DRS, look left/right, adjust roll-bars, brake bias, request/cancel pit stops etc etc... not now. I have lost 4 mappable buttons so that I can have the option of an effing handbrake... IT'S AN F1 RIM!... I despair, I really do.

It should be displaying something like "Increase Brake Bias 59/100" but on the PS4 we've just notice it says only "I" and "D", so most of the information is missing. We will fix it, apologies for the error.

I only hope that this fixes the issue with not being able to select the other DLC cars as well, as the issue wasn't just limited to the Bently. Because after I bought the Old vs New DLC I could select the Bentley again, just not any of the other new DLC cars (both Mustangs, RUF CTR, the other RUF, BMW 2002 turbo as they would resort to one of the other cars the game shipped with).

Did the update come out for PS4 yet??? I havent been on PS4 PCars in a Day or so... Ive been Playing it on XB1 the Game Updated when i Installed it so im Not Sure what update XB1 is upto is it also out on XB1 yet too... Last update was 3.0 im sure Both systems have that Not Sure if XB1 updated to 4.0 and i Need to turn on the PS4 and update it also.

Unfortunately the option seems to have no effect at all atm. Tested it few minutes back to answer your question, as I was curious how this point was solved.
Default Setup: Yes
Driving Aids: Realistic
Damage, Flags: all on
Track: Watkins Glen GP
Car: Audi R8 GT3
I had a setup for that car and for that track before. Its still there. I can change values, save them etc. The effect remains through all sessions. In the race my setup is on the car also.
So basically, the option is there, but has no effect.

And SMS cant tell you this as its SONY themselves that determine when a patch gets released to everyones PS4 (the only thing SMS can tell you is when they send the patch to SONY to test). Is there any chance that use the second joystick on the Fanatec F1 rims could be reintroduced for those of us that will never use a separate handbrake device? Maybe put it in as an option in the controller menus? Unilateral removal of such a useful and flexible function is likely to be absolutely terrible news for all PS4 Formula rim users.
Maybe someone from SMS could open a dialogue with Fanatec about it?

Not necessarily is "overdone = issue" ... in this case imo its not overdone much ... actually out of 30 races i have 1nce a collision which this is a very short problem. Just race clean and fair and search for such a league / group. :D

Racing Clean, And an In game Issue Have Nothing to do with each other.
The Fact is that if Car to Car contact is made, there is a Game Breaking Issue.
The Cars Glue, or Magnetize together.
Neither car has any control, and both cars run straight off track.
even when the Glue Lets go, your car is still in a state of Little to no control.
Happens many times, mostly if the AI contacts you from behind.. or the side.
what should have been a bump and run, turns into an Off track and many lost positions.
putting blinders on and ignoring that it exists doesn't solve any thing.
Sure, If you never make contact you don't experience it, but that Doesn't mean the Issue doesn't exist.
You're basically saying
If you Fart in the wind, and we don't smell it, then you didn't Fart.

I've downloaded the patch and quickly just tested the GUI / HUD changes which I was looking forward to along with ANY updates to the online aspect of the game as I usually either practice for myself testing/tweaking car setups or race online in weekly sheduled races with friends in private and public lobbies.
I 'm a bit dissapointed that the hud only show info like "ON/OFF", "N/A" "I" (Increase) "D" (decrease) Instead of tying the full information like : "ABS Enabled" / ABS Disabled" , "Break Bias+" / "Brake Bias-", Front Anti Roll bar Increase/decrease +/- "Stability Control ON/OFF" etc. you get the picture..I mean whyy not put that extra little text in there while you're at it so races know exactly what values and settings is changing during races.
I have mapped these keys to a little Bluetooth keyboard and used the numeric pad for these mappings - so at least I want that type of info in the HUD.
This was just a quick litte test as I have to wait until tonight before I get to do some more testing. I sure hope all of my racing buddy's have updated as I can see issues for tonights races if not everybody are on the same patch level.

Last night I was racing/practising with a group of friends as we're having scheduled races each friday night. All of us were at the time at patch level 3.0 except one guy who could not join our lobby. He apparantly updated to 4.0 late last night but was not able to join our or other 3.0 lobby's after that. So are there any issues atm. with players on different patch levels (3.0 and 4.0) ?

Yes, as far as l know North and South America are always the last to receive the patches.
So, until they got the patch, European and American players wont be able to play together.

Could anyone elaborate on this? Does this mean we will get more contracts from the next series (e.g if you won the GT3 Championship [tier 3], you would get more offers in the Endurance Championship [tier 2])

still no fix for community ambassador after countless posts on various forums for all consoles and a tweet notifying it was brought to your attention. well done, really.
1- I still don't believe that once again you guys didn't even care or tried to fix the framerate issues on tracks like Monaco.
What a hell is wrong with you guys ? Don't you want to make your costumers happy ?
2 - Even after patch 4.0, We still have to go and manually change the settings under advanced settings in the control settings menu, so that the gamepad settings ( advanced ons and offs ) are the ones that we want and a have chosen every single time we have played the game.
Not a single time does the game keeps those settings after we once again start the game.
3 - Fixing the collisions with the ford escort may disguise the problem ..but isn't the real issue ( the one that really needs fixing) the physics involved in those collisions ?
4 - I'd really like to get an option to edit and independently increase the various sounds of the tyres in the overall sound mix.
5 - The dualshock ffb isn't great at comunicating what is happening between the tyres and the road .. Improving that and resolving the frame rate issues, would be the greatest patch of all times.
6 - please start listening to your costumers dreams :) we really want to like your game. please help us in that.

What the Hell do you expect? Monaco is and will be a very heavy Track for GPU's so many detailed Houses and Stuff in Front that needs to be rendered. If the would "just" lower the Details, i can allready here all the "Why the Hell have you make Monaco worse" etc. They will continues optimizing for sure, but such a Post isn't really necessary... To be honest, after that Sentence i didn't read the rest of your Post.

Yeah great, apart from the fact that for some unknown reason the TC, ABS & SC icons have now been removed from the HUD dash & replaced with a random 'T N' message.
Has made it worse, not better. Have done 50 minutes of a multiplayer practice session & have had no idea whether the assist have been on or off half the time :mad:.

Where are these missing? They are still present in the meter when outside the car. It would be really nice though to have them visible on/off state all the time in cockpit-mode.

News to me - I've been driving the Ginetta GT4 & they're not visible at all on the HUD dash in bonnet cam.

Fixed a bug where the invitational events that require winning team championships weren't always unlocking.
I have installed the patch and loaded up the game but these invitations are still locked. Previous patch automatically unlocked certain bugged invitations, I'm assuming they're still bugged for me?

What the Hell do you expect? Monaco is and will be a very heavy Track for GPU's so many detailed Houses and Stuff in Front that needs to be rendered. If the would "just" lower the Details, i can allready here all the "Why the Hell have you make Monaco worse" etc. They will continues optimizing for sure, but such a Post isn't really necessary... To be honest, after that Sentence i didn't read the rest of your Post.

Are the yellow flags in solo mode ever going to be looked at, I've tried for about an hour causing pile ups and blocking at the start of races and not had one.

You need to win 2 and 4 team championships after the patch, previous wins don't count, sadly. The quickest way I found is Formula Rookie and it's fun, too.

The video example, the lead car got tapped and spun so that it was slighty sideways.
yes in a case like that where the lead cars tires are now scrubbing, they've lost all grip..
if the car in back can't slow with braking, as it looks like both were fully committed to the turn,
then that will be the results..
I doubt that this sort of thing happens in every race, every time two cars bump.
pCars has too much entanglement to the point of being unrealistic.
sure it can and does happen. but not as much as it does in the game.
a side by side rub, and you get stuck together..
a little tap in the back and you get glued together.
it needs an adjustment...

I had been staying well clear of racing Monaco in this game as I heard of the screen tear being bad but played it for the first time tonight in an online race with just 8 people and the tearing was beyond annoying and just ruins the experience for me. I would say other tracks are just about tolerable for the most part as long as you don't use weather. I hope they can optimize the game more at 1080p but maybe 900p could be made an option if that would improve performance significantly.Replays are also ruined by the tearing on some tracks. Maybe a full v sync implementation for replays specifically could be done.
Someone could tell us how it works the "default setup"?????

The car contact in Project Cars makes no physical sense, unless the cars' chassis are made of magnets :p

Pre patch 4 i only had a couple of crashes, happened three times yesterday and the last time it wiped all my data, all car set ups, ffb settings, everything. This happened while i was inputting Jack Spades settings, got all the way down to the Ruf gt3 when it happened.
Bit miffed tbh.

Still new to this game and downloaded patch 4 yesterday. Over 14hrs into my 24h Lemans I get the invisible wall when coming out of the pits which flips me over and disqualifies me. Any enjoyment I had from playing this game has completely gone.

Do you really think SMS would want people seeing there game running at a rock solid 60fps whilst looking awful?
In all honesty I can stand the frame drops, this is a full blown sim running on a console. The tyre physics alone eat 2 cores if I am not mistaken that's the price you pay for top notch physics in a game. People are so hung up about this 60fps in consoles, that's what has always held Forza back from progressing because Microsoft won't budge hence why you have Forza 6 with no dynamic time of day or weather, I am sure that will get stale pretty soon.
Whilst I agree in principle they could add sliders for graphical fidelity and resolution, would they really go down that road. If you have ever played any sims on PC you always have a trade off between eye candy/physics and frame rate, I am just glad that we have a true sim on console at all and will be quite happy for SMS to just keep optimising where they can.

I hope Sony in the U.S. is testing to be certain the crash bug to blue screen has been resolved before releasing the patch. This issue was not listed in the patch notes.
I had 3 blue screen crashes in 1 hour, hadn't been on in 5 days due to working night shifts, first 1 during the first race after the patch :-/

I had to leave the lobby to turn it off in the options, but when I rejoined the session I had very little (if any) engine noise in all views except chase cam (which seemed normal). It was kind of like driving an electric car. All I seemed to be able to hear was road noise, tyre squeal and the exhaust.
Someone could tell us how it works the "default setup"?????
It doesnt seem to work atm. The option is there but has no effect afaiks. I think SMS is aware of that as several ppl reported it here.
Hi SMS, this is not a post because I want to complain, this is help by telling you about some bugs that I encounter and some bugs that you might not be aware of.
This is such a great game, so I only wants to help, so it can become even better.
I mainly makes endurance races in solo mode, so this is also, where I have found some bugs. Some small, but also some that is really frustrating and game breaking.
These bugs have been in the game from the beginning.
I have upgrade to version 4.0 but they are still there.
I use PC and the setup is 250 laps of Spa, GT3 class, 35 opponents, no aids and in this case just clear weather.
In addition, here is the first bug. The weather is clear, the forecast is clear and still all of my opponents uses GT3 rain tires!

A small not game breaking bug, but still annoying is that I do not use HUD, but only the information from the dashboard in the GT3 car. For better visuals, I always turns the light on, so I better can see the information. However, every time I enters the pit, the light is switched off and I have to turn it on, when I leave the pits.
When I switch to my AI driver all tire and brake telemetry stops working, both on the dash and in the PCdash app. Therefore, I cannot monitor temperature or tire wear.
Now to the frustrating and for me game breaking bug. The end of an endurance race.
When the leader of a race crosses the finish line, race just stops. Why is it not possible to finish the lap that you are on? The same goes for qualifying. Let us finish the lap.
The most annoying part is that when the leader has won the race, you a presented with the result screen, but in the background the AI driver has taken over the car and still drives in racing speed, even overtaking opponents and moving up on the leaderboard. How come that the AI driver is a loud to finish the race and not yourself!
Finally, the race result. Look at this picture and see if you can notice something very wrong.
Look at the laps for each driver and then on the place they finish the race. That is just so wrong. How can a car witch has done 250 laps get in lower on the leaderboard than a car witch has done 248 laps.
That is because the game just classifies in the order the cars crosses the finish line and not calculates for cars witch is lapped. That is not good and needs some attention. There is even a car with 250 laps ending up as number 26, behind cars he has lapped 4 times.

Moreover, for the even better endurance racing experience we would like to have timed races, proper multi class and hopefully custom championships.
You have the Le Mans license, please lets us experience the true endurance spirit :o).

I ve had a number of GT3 races in a public lobby last night. In theory, it was the best public lobby I had ever participated in: It was always full, the first 5-7 guys were regularily within 1 second after qualifying and the racing was 99% fair. Yes, I know, people in public lobbies giving each other space to survive, amazing aint it?!
Unfortunately, despite racing carefully and watching out for each other, due to being so similarily fast and therefor being close to each other so often, there wasnt a single race that wasnt ruined by those horrible sticky collisions. Not one. At Spa, I had an epic fight with a guy in an R8 LMS and another one in a Ruf GT3, we were within a second for over one lap. Then the Ruf tried to overtake the Audi at Bus Stop, both were side by side, very lightly touched and they were dragged straight on with the poor guy in the Audi on the inside probably screaming in frustration. Well, good for me, I was right behind them, slipped through and got away as they both served a 5 second penalty for track cutting to boot (I assume, since they came back on track so slow and you often get a 5 second penalty when being magnet dragged outside the track, to add insult to injury). The R8 driver quit the session and probably threw his PS4 out the window. I screwed up later the next lap, so I had the Ruf on my rear end again. He dived on the inside of me at Pouhon, I left him as much space as I could but we lightly touched being side by side, as if our cars would have high fived. Now, I would have understood if that would have sent me wide.
What happened instead was that from a light side-to-side touch, our cars stuck together like magnets and plowed straight on into the barriers. The barriers at Pouhon are far away from the track, the runoff area is asphalt and I bet we both braked hard and steered left, I know I did. Neither braking nor turning had any noticeable effect. It was the last lap, I finished with a bent steering and that was the last race I did that night.
I dont care how much work it is to solve those goddamn sticky collisions. Except for the crashes to XMB, I cant think of any other thing that could possibly have higher priority. If you dont fix them, you can just straight up stop developing the oval DLC content because it will be pointless. Rubbing is racing. If we cant rub, we cant race. End of story.
PS: To add further insult to even more injury, the 3rd place at Spa was my 51st online podium finish. No pentapodia trophy unlocked. :mad:

Same here. I think because they've added the option to have the racing line on only in the corners it seems to have defaulted to the on position after you've installed the patch.
I also had to quit the lobby to turn it off, but once I did it stayed off so hopefully it's just a one time thing.

At least the entire population on the XB1 is on the same patch though. Currently the PS4 userbase is split with 3.0 and 4.0 which means far less lobbies to pick from.

Thats SCEA for you, always dragging their butts.
SCEA and SCEE are both SONY but act like completely different companies, they have totally different approval processes, different store layouts and so on.
Take War thunder as example, SCEE approved the game and it launched in November 28-29 2013, while SCEA wouldn't allow the game to launch because the game didn't have PSN friend list integration and eventually was allowed to launch months later (2Q of 2014) after Gaijin added PSN friend list integration.
then the whole patch approval process, SCEE always seems to launch patches first then SCEA eventually launches the patch. I always hated staggered launches. Being that patches are distributed by digital means they should launch the patches simultaneously (as well as games thats disturbed digitally).

...and that's how you get rid of yur fanbase slowly but surely! (what I have been saying since patch 2.0!) if support mechanism, problem/ bug collection and data collection was cleaner and more stream lined, even in the forum, patches would be more focused on majority of complaints and bugs reported...you could create custom polls and etc. to figure that out, or simply allow or add forum functions, where threads and posts have to be categorized/ with colors or other form of visual and app help. so many threads/ posts just simply get lost or forgotten about, valid issues, bugs and problems, or simply not paid attention to. if all was categorized or more detailed, you could keep it simplier in figuring out what is posted mostly, what category is created mostly and so on...stats stats stats. (of course not all would be applicable, because some people just post without searching...but that's the forum, staff, team, tech and whatever support's job to clean and if neccessary categorize and push to devs and or other) that's where studio has missed the mark IMHO. also should have maybe focused on 1-2 platforms first, rather than 3-4 platforms, we all know why Nintento got dropped and in the fashion it was dropped...but at least less platforms would have given the studio, a better chance to get the game going without bugs and glitches and issues. all the above IMO. (and yes, i have tried FM6 and F1 2015...all buggy and crappy to be honest and no game is without issues, BUT the PC version of pCARS is lightyears better than PS4 and XB1! and least in my opinion!)

I think when set to ALL, every car can use them.

Don't know if it's just a placebo affect but do the PS4 colours looks little more realistic now after the Gamma correction, I have switched on post processing and at night don't seem to be getting as much cloud banding as I used to. The true test will be later this evening when I play in a dark room. Prior to 4.0 night time racing with cloud cover meant glowing banded cell shaded clouds. Fingers crossed.
The shadows on some cars seem improved as well in replays, I used to hate watching replays of cars with higher ground clearance as the shadows were either non existent in places or just not very good, the escort springs to mind. I am being picky though.

I've not played since 3.0 because of this crash issue and to be honest doubt I'll bother playing it again. What is the point of fixing some things but ignore the fatal errors?

They need to be able to pinpoint exactly what is causing the issue(s) before they can attempt to correct it. With the randomness of the crashes & invisible objects, my guess is they are having troubles pinpointing the cause.
Luckily for me, i havent been suffering from issues like some others. Maybe 2 dashboard crashes since 3.0 patch.
When does it come out in North America on PS4 ?
Why do we always have to wait a few days or a week before been able to get it in N.A. ?
Just like the Community Events, so bas that it been started days before game came out in N.A. !
So unfair for us and all people of America and probably same for Asia.
Closing events before everyones had time to complete it is insane...
Should ahve been modified right away so everyones can run it for a week.
We started season with an handicap of a few events.

If SMS can not pin point a game crashing bug that causes users to remove the game from their library then why release a 4.0? It has been known by SMS immediately after 3.0 release on both consoles and nothing is acknowledged, just total shut down. Gamestop offers $16.50 trade-in for Pcars in the U.S. and if I get just one crash after 4.0 I will accept the 72% loss but gain 100% in peace of mind. Assetto Corsa can’t come soon enough on PS4. Please do not interpret this reply to you personally, I'm just disgusted at the moment. Sorry.
Dont worry, i dont take things such as that personally. I can understand frustrations like yours for sure. If i was plagued with constant issues, i would have the same kind of view as yourself.
They do need to keep making improvements to the game though regardless of weather they can pinpoint or fix these crashing & invisible object problems. If everything was halted until then, ever more people would be pissed due to complete lack of support, fixes & additional content. Im sure these issues are high on the priority list of SMS.
Im looking forward to AC as well, but for all we know, it could wind up being completely riddled with bugs & totally unplayable for quite some time. Hopefully not though.

I enjoy the game immensely as well, which is why i take the good with the bad. There is nothing else available on console which can satisfy my craving for a great racing experience.

@Jay_B: I truly don't think they have blocked your IP, it is just a huge cooperation...you have to understand, the bigger the company gets the less response you will get as a consumer, their wheels of processes/ procedures and help become huge, and we as consumers suffer. that's just a fact. as much as they help, the expedited help gets last in line with large/ huge enterprises, best you can do is post your bugs/ problems and issues related to pCARS right here on this forum and just wait it out and see how staff, or WMD mods or other community members add to it, post, or else. just a thought, so you don't ruin your game experience with pCARS getting frustrated.
Do you really think SMS would want people seeing there game running at a rock solid 60fps whilst looking awful?
In all honesty I can stand the frame drops, this is a full blown sim running on a console. The tyre physics alone eat 2 cores if I am not mistaken that's the price you pay for top notch physics in a game. People are so hung up about this 60fps in consoles, that's what has always held Forza back from progressing because Microsoft won't budge hence why you have Forza 6 with no dynamic time of day or weather, I am sure that will get stale pretty soon.
Whilst I agree in principle they could add sliders for graphical fidelity and resolution, would they really go down that road. If you have ever played any sims on PC you always have a trade off between eye candy/physics and frame rate, I am just glad that we have a true sim on console at all and will be quite happy for SMS to just keep optimising where they can.
Look men, I was clear about not wanting to compare or talk about other similar games on the market.
But you see .. talking about Eye candy in games and their relation with them being 30 or 60 fps titles is very subjective.
In my life I have played a lot of 60 fps games that look a lot better than a lot of 30 fps games. It all comes down a lot more to the 3D engine behind all the game and to choices the programmers do when creating the game than to whether the game runs at 60 or 30 fps.
Sure, the same game could always look better at a 30 fps lock, rather than at an unlocked and variable 60 fps. But when you do master the fine art of making and tuning games .. you can almost all of the time be certain that the game you produce will most likely run at a 60 fps lock.
Would you trade the frame rate in project cars for a slower framerate, doubled input lag and prettier scenarios ?
Not me, I wouldn't .. not ever.
The best fun I've ever had in my sim racer time, was had while using a modest laptop with a really really modest graphic card, playing some mods of some older games like formula armaroli ( a reiza studios mod to rfactor 1) and some mods of richard burns rally. All those mods looked great, and the community made some great tracks for those games, some of them even laser scanned) .. and while running on directx 8.1, that was never an obstacle in the way of very very good fun and very decent visuals, when the right choices of design and graphics detail were made.
All those mods and games required some work and modding but after a lot of configurations I managed to make those games run at a solid 60 fps on my archaic laptop.
So don't tell me we have an hardware limitation in ps4. What we have are choices and politics.
i have some problem with the feedback for my TX300RS, i star the playstation the feedback is slow i restart the playstation the feedback is strong! but no change my setup.

is not an option on consoles. Resolution and other graphics parameters (AA, AF) are strictly controlled by 1st-party.
Very rare that console users would ever be able to adjust these.
With all the remaining issues and potential gameplay improvements left in the game, I'm not sure why people still regard these graphical things as a priority. The game looks absolutely stunning. That's not the issue with PCars. are you people actually racing this game or just watching it like a movie ?

the guy doing the graphics is not the same fixing bugs/ doing physics / etc
it's not because there is new graphical things, that it slowed down the bug fixing.
but there is a lot of bugs that needs to be fix ASAP

Please SMS, fix the Deadzone on PS4 Motion controls. This issue do not exist on Driveclub. Even when Deadzone is set to 0, the huge Deadzone is always there

OK it's not just me. I'm sitting here looking all over for the 4.0 update and nothing. Still running 3.0. I thought I missed something
4.0 update still isn't available in Brazil.

It really has been minimized. Not totally extincted, but minimized to a level I can live with. Been in a public lobby with lots of ppl joining/quitting. I could drive almost without noticing the lag. Very pleased with the improvement! Thanks SMS!

Pre patch 4 i only had a couple of crashes, happened three times yesterday and the last time it wiped all my data, all car set ups, ffb settings, everything. This happened while i was inputting Jack Spades settings, got all the way down to the Ruf gt3 when it happened.
Bit miffed tbh.
This is identical to what happened to me at the same time.
Track map on load screen is a welcome addition..
Indeed, but the map will be more usefull when choosing the track in the list (more particularly if there are several variants: international, sprint, GP...) instead of when loading the race (it's a bit late to be full of interest)...

I have installed the patch and loaded up the game but these invitations are still locked. Previous patch automatically unlocked certain bugged invitations, I'm assuming they're still bugged for me?
You need to win 2 and 4 team championships after the patch, previous wins don't count, sadly. The quickest way I found is Formula Rookie and it's fun, too.
Yes that's correct, should really have been listed in the patch notes. It wasn't possible to fix this one retrospectively so you need to win 4 more team championships to unlock the invitations.

Pressing TC, same thing, you get "TO".

Not really sure how that made it past testing. Seems like an easy thing to catch.

It seems odd indeed, but I'm pretty sure that the process of testing and updating is slightly more complicated than that so things could get broken even after testing, for example. Not something you want to be possible, but it could happen. And then there's the occasional miscommunication or human error as well that can occur.
