Hi guys,
We plan to roll out the PC version of patch 5 over the course of today. In the meantime, here are the release notes.
Project CARS – PC Patch 5.0 – Release notes
Online
* Enforce fixed (default) setups – fixed cases where enabling this would still allow players to use custom setups. Enabled the player's custom controller settings to still be used when using fixed setups.
* Mojave layouts – fixed an issue where, if the host were disqualified, it would force end-of-race for everyone.
* Fixed an issue with tyre choices being ignored during pit stops.
Physics & AI
* Improved AI behaviour in pit lanes to further reduce cars hitting the pit walls when driving out of the garages.
* Fixed an issue where cars under AI control would struggle to drive correctly on tracks with high banking.
* Fixed an issue where some car parts that were dislodged during a collision would not be removed when the track is cleared.
Career
* Fixed an issue where the maximum amount of contract and invitation emails could be exceeded with DLC installed, resulting in the player not being notified of newly unlocked contract offers and invitational events.
Controls
* Fixed a bug on the splash screen where the controller used to press the A Button to start was not selected as the current controller.
* Logitech G29/G920 – updated default controller map sets for the layouts to be consistent between wheels and across platforms.
* Logitech G920 – fixed an issue with the gearshift mapping.
* Removed default assignments for wipers and lights, as this was disabling the wipers/lights turning on automatically when it started raining or got dark.
Tracks
* Nürburgring GP, Sprint, Sprint Short – fixed an issue that caused issues for cars pitting in the first pit spot.
* Nordschleife – fixed an issue that caused cars to get stuck against the pit wall when driving in the pit lane.
* Nürburgring Sprint Short – fixed a cut track issue at the NGK Chicane.
* Barcelona GP – fixed cut track issue when entering the pit lane.
* Watkins Glen – improved overall track performance to address frame rate drops in certain areas.
Vehicles
* Aston Martin Vantage GTE – tweaked cockpit exposure to work better with rainy conditions.
* Aston Martin DBR 1-2 – set the car up so that the steering wheel remains in a static state when the user chooses the ‘hide wheel’ option, so that the user can still read the vital info displayed on the wheel.
* Aston Martin DBR1 1959 – fixed an issue where the wrong helmet was displayed when using Helmet View, tweaked inertia and roll stiffness to improve collision behaviour.
* Audi 90 IMSA GTO, Audi R8 V10 plus, Ruf Rt 12R – fixed an issue where the KERS bar would appear on the HUD of these cars, even though they don’t have KERS.
* BMW 320 Turbo – fixed an issue where the car would start 'wandering' in straight lines after a few laps.
* Bentley Continental GT3 – updated engine and minimum ride height to match latest; mapped real world balance of performance; updated gearbox ratios to current FIA specifications, putting it more in line with the other GT3 cars.
* Ford Mustang GT – improve braking power to better match the car's weight.
* Ginetta G40 – partial fix for front tires overheating if pressure goes over 1.8bar.
* Historic Lotus Formula cars – improved the Helmet View exposure settings
* Lotus 98T – fixed an issue with missing bodywork in the cockpit
* Mercedes C Class DTM – adjusted steering wheel shift lights to better match the engine's power band.
* Ruf CTR – changed to a more durable brake pad for track use and added an optional brake duct to help control temperatures at slow tracks.
GUI & HUD
* Display correct message when trying to toggle assists when assists are disabled.
* Fixed an issue with the Leaderboards navigation that prevented the user from changing the vehicle or location.
* Changed the displayed values for Lateral and Longitudinal weight bias, to make it more intuitive.
* Fixed an issue with bad Text spacing on the Telemetry screen.
* Fixed various issues with the HUD gearshift indicator during replays.
* Fixed an issue where making real time changes to the stability control would display incorrect information.
* Fixed an issue where the in-game Standings screen ‘Lap time’ was cleared too soon.
General
* Fixed an issue where the ‘Sync to Race’ option was unavailable when configuring Weather Progression.
* Fixed an issue where the Best Driving Line assist appeared in the rear view mirrors.
* Localisation – added ‘United Arab Emirates’ used by Lykan to non-English language sets.
* Fixed an issue with Quick Race Weekend, where running Qualifying and Race without a Practice session would cause the Qualifying session rules to not work correctly.
* Fixed a case where the ‘One more for the road’ achievement would not unlock correctly.
* Fixed an issue where the player could still toggle driving assists on via buttons, even when driving assists was disabled.
* Fixed an issue where the external driving camera would clip through the track on steep banking.
* Fixed an issue with random cloud ‘popping’ in and out of view.
* Fixed an issue with clouds disappearing when using time acceleration.
* Fixed a render timing issue that would at times cause a black screen when the processor is under heavy load.
* Fixed an issue that caused the player’s view to switch from helmet camera to cockpit camera during pit stops.
* Fixed an issue with Enhanced Mirror, where enabling it could at times cause occasional drop-outs of mirror content
Oculus Rift
* Improved support for Oculus Rift rendering to desktop and headset simultaneously.
* Added command line option -vrfullscreen for use when using second screen, to use whole screen instead of windowed mode.
* Amended driver head offset when in Oculus Rift mode – defaults to 0.0 but can be set using command line -vreyeoffset amount.
* Added HUD position editing control keys to the existing HUD editing setup: AD – left/right, WS – up/down, ZE – in/out. (Note that this doesn't save yet between game restarts. We have this working internally now but it missed this patch, so will be coming your way very soon)
* HUD and Menu system is now located in world and car space instead of attached to the player’s head.
* Updated to Oculus SDK 0.7.0.0.
- NOTE - If you experience a black flicker/flash in the right eye view when playing in VR, please ensure that you have VSync enabled.

As far as our testing shows, yes. We're certainly very keen to see the feedback on this once the patch has been out a while. :)

So has this been applied to all cars or just the 320 Turbo for testing? Would be very useful and make it a lot easier to test if it was the former as people are starting to get more of an idea of when to expect it and when to look out for when running in a car they frequently use and understand.

That's absolutely great news and I'm really excited to hear about it! :D
I hope this has really been the root of the Dip & Flip bug and no one is able to reproduce the bug anymore ;) If so, thank you SMS!

Maybe the line was forgotten, or some of the fixes have a global influence to this.
Any news for the replay bug. ( not starting cars, wrong cars and liveries in replay)

I am writing this because I can see there are some notes on the new Aston DLC vehicle included in the coming PC patch 5.0 pre-release notes, which i guess consoles version patch will be released not for long, I just want to report this to you that until now Hong Kong PSN region (Hong Kong PS4 users) still hasn't got the Mojave track + Free Car + New Aston Martin DLC yet, we are fans of your masterpiece and we are willing to pay for any kind of DLC including all livery packages which incurred costs, but seems Hong Kong people now were being forgotten, can you please look into this? Or should we ask Bandai Namco instead? Can you give us some hints on who we should contact if so...?

Since the Aston Martin Expansion was released not long ago and the fix you mentioned isn't in the notes, it's most likely not fixed yet.

I think people wanna hide the wheel are using anyways apps to have a look at tire temps, gear shifting etc.

When the wheel does show important information it will always be displayed. That's a design decision and is done this way on all the other cars with MOTEC displays too.

That BoP is meant for the Bentley only.
The BoP should be for all cars Bealdor, I'm not even gaining ground with draft behind an SLS... Which should be the case IRL. I'm not even putting my 6th gear anymore !!... This car was nerfed way too much... 2 seconds per lap slower... And now it's clearly not the fastest car on straights ( which should be ! )

Fix those annoying sound stuttering when driving online or watching drivers from pit monitor pls.
People complain often about it but its not fixed from day 1.

I can see more japanese cars on my HDD. Toyota, Scion and some Mitsubishi´s. Hope to see some Super GT cars in the future.:D

It still has the turbo advantage which gives it a better performance on higher altitude tracks like Bathurst or Nürburgring.
Why not give it a few hours and rethink your setup approach wrt the reduced power? A setup reset wouldn't hurt too.

It's still there.
The only way i managed this bug is being less agressive on the throtle when putting the 5th gear.

Try a different track, i.e. Bathurst as suggested.
Well... Yeah. But as I told, it's about a championnship... So it's Hockeneim GP and nothing else. And the Bentley IRL was never designed to be quick on tracks like Bathurst... The Bentley always ( and still IRL ) has a top speed advantage on long straights ( like the Nissan GTR )

Hopefully the "Force Default setups" works well. That's the most important to me and a lot of people :D

Controllers:
* KERS was mapped twice in the classic controller config which was cuasing it to end up being mapped to multiple inputs, with only the first input being picked up by the game.
I wonder when it'll be implied into pCARS1:p

Well, I think GT3 was already the best balanced field of the game.. others have really OP cars. But oh well... As for GT3... The Aston is still THE car, and I don't really understand that much how BoP isn't in this vehicle.
As for my issues of pace... I found out that Wastegate pressure was now tunable on the Bentley, and that wasn't at full setting at default... So yeah, it's better balanced with the wastegate at max... of course.

Aston Martin GTE? It's a GTE/GT2, with a vastly different purpose from a GT3 in design. Its BoP will be applied with Chevy C7R/911 RSR/458 GTE/Ford GTE, not the normal GT3s:p

Probably Patch 6, once its been confirmed to be 100% fixed, if you see stuff in pCARS2 patch notes that is an issue in pCARS1 you can expect it within 1-2 patches.
Obviously that fix only came on pCARS2 on the 6th, which is only 2 days ago so it must have only been fixed on the 5th.

I think it still works with previous, it just adds support for 0.7

Why the hell do we have an endurance kitted GTE car that can't be used in Endurance races when the DLC doesn't say "Can't be used in Endurance races" and just says on the page it has career contracts? That's really misleading.
Why are these cars not getting contracts for the series in the game that people are wanting to use them in?

Afaik, it was a bug before and is now working as intended. So now you can choose when you want the race to start instead of having the race start at around 9 o'clock even when you set 7 o'clock.
The bug is fixed on the 5th actually, so what does 'that fix only came on pCARS2 on the 6th' mean?:confused:Just because a bug is fixed, doesn't mean it's in a build ready to test right away - more often than not, the fix would appear in the next available build released (but there are some that are held back for various reasons). So, if a dev posts a fix on the 5th, it probably won't go into the next build until later that day, or the next day. Then it gets tested, then it gets released, so might even be 2 days later.

Then like Groundhog Day, it is 0600 again for the race start.:confused:
Surely the race should start just after 1100 (depending upon how long you look at the results screen for)?
How things were pre-patch 5.0 were correct IMO, but perhaps the config option name could be improved/changed to "Meeting start time."

Should work on 0.6.0.1, maybe 0.6.0.0.
That's an Oculus thing though not SMS, they are only supporting one version back with each new SDK update.

It's not really "code" that determines the build size. It's the affected endstates. For instance, you can make a small change to a common static library that causes every shipped endstate to need to be rebuilt. Even though the code change was small, the affected endstates were not small.

It is for both. Probably listed under Online since this was were the bug got picked up first.
Just because a bug is fixed, doesn't mean it's in a build ready to test right away - more often than not, the fix would appear in the next available build released (but there are some that are held back for various reasons). So, if a dev posts a fix on the 5th, it probably won't go into the next build until later that day, or the next day. Then it gets tested, then it gets released, so might even be 2 days later.
I've tested that that bug is fixed in the build released that day 'cause it's in the release note on Oct 5th. Waiting for Patch 6 ;) Thanks for explanation:)

It's not difficult to reprogram a display to show different units (in real life). At least not on some displays. But I'd be surprised if it was impossible to be done on any display that's used on a professionally built car.

It can be an easy software change that takes <1 minute to change and upload the new config into a dash.
Why bother having the pseudo MoTeC display change if the idea is to match the car exactly as supplied? Customers can change plenty of things on cars after they but them. So why not the display? Obviously it doesn't need to be a priority (far from it), but the argument of "that's how it was supplied" is poor because it can be changed. There may be some cases where the manufacturer and dash supplier work out a contract that involves locking the dash (from customers), but it would be dumb to never allow it to be modified.
Has it occurred to anybody that is might be a licensing restriction? I don't know if it is the case with this specific item, but there are areas where the manufacturer says "this is how it should be" and that's that.

According to me, it means that the cars are represented as the cars which SMS took the data and details from. Idfc how 'easy' it is to change software or whatever else. Really. dfc. Every time on a time trial on all of the Azure Coast selections, when you finish, you have no control over the car and it just crashes into the walls causing times to be invalid.. Any ideas?

At pitstop you get forced Default Settings, what in my eyes can be a problem when weather is progressing.
What can happen is that you cant preanticipate the rain ... so if it starts the rain and you wanna be the first one to get new rain tire it can happen that the game is giving you dry tires , as you cant decide for yourself.

Before update while leaving race and go back to menus,was able to get "options" menu up and usable.
Now instead have just a screen splitted showing something in game.
Fullscreen or windowed,same thing.
As since a long time from beginning the mouse cursor stills invisible,there is noway to use any of menus,and use keyboard(in

But now if menu desappears what next?
In the other hand would like to know why the game stills "stuttering",don't know exact word to define,when move head from side to side?
In fact when moving fast left right and up down game seems stumbling.

Thank you for another remedial patch .. but why I sit here waiting for yet another download I wonder about things such as - when will my online reputation pass 0%. Will the race host ever be given some control over the competitors? I guess it's clear that there will never be any deterrent to deliberate ramming so I won't even enquire about that :( My DF wheel works well know...just a shame the game randomly 'drops' it requiring a re boot (since patch4). Why can't we see fastest lap info after online race completed. Will we ever see advanced personal stats in the future ie career track FL's see wgt.com for reference - adds long term interest.
Guess some people are never happy. Only another 2.5 hours till the patch completes it's download and then I will hopefully be smiling again.

Hi, i noticed that the realistic driving aids are now fixed for mp, but there is still one thing i think is wrong. If you set the realitic aids in gameplay for sp mode you are only able to activate the aids the car have in multiplayer, despite the fact the host allows all. If i set them to none in sp it works just as it should which means i can activate them if the host allows it.

The stuttering is the performance of your rig not giving 75FPS. A known issue.

As for my issues of pace... I found out that Wastegate pressure was now tunable on the Bentley, and that wasn't at full setting at default... So yeah, it's better balanced with the wastegate at max... of course.Also if you haven't already, pay close attention to the power reading in the telemetry. The tighter restrictor has changed the car's peak power to a much lower RPM, you basically need to shift at the second rev LED (the first yellow one) or you're running only 490 bhp or so most of the time. The car peaks at around 514-515 bhp and has a pretty wide flat spot at the top of the power curve, so keep it at the correct revs and it can go quicker still.
As for the "only advantages", I've done fairly extensive testing and the Bentley's advantage for sure wasn't only in the power. It was and still is capable of pulling higher lateral Gs than the Aston GT3, Audi R8 LMS, McLaren GT3, Mercedes GT3 and the Ruf GT3, and (assuming the brakes are kept cold, they can overheat pretty easily) can also brake as well as or better than the Aston GT3, Audi R8 LMS and Mercedes GT3, though the McLaren and Ruf are better due to being significantly lighter. Where pure cornering power is concerned it is only slightly behind the BMWs and the Ginetta. So really, before the update the car had cornering capabilities almost on par with the best cornering cars in the class, braking power on par with the nearly half the class, and the best power to weight ratio out of all of them, supremely so at high altitudes (only at the lowest altitudes possible did the Mercedes slightly edge ahead in power to weight). It was quite overpowered in many ways.

Would you like me to moan about the things I don't give a monkey's about, that got fixed or improved before Oculus support got improved? I'm happy for every single improvement and fix that SMS put in, even if it helps me or improves my gameplay in no shape or form, because I appreciate that the fixes do at least help somebody.

Why the hell do we have an endurance kitted GTE car that can't be used in Endurance races when the DLC doesn't say "Can't be used in Endurance races" and just says on the page it has career contracts? That's really misleading.
Why are these cars not getting contracts for the series in the game that people are wanting to use them in?
Adding new contracts to hook DLC cars into a multi-class series is unfortunately exponentially more complicated than in single-class series. The multi-class championships were originally finely balanced to provide a good spread of cars from each class. With how the whole career system was designed for Project CARS, adding a new car to class X now would mean needing to remove a car from class Y, or replacing a car in class X, which would upset as many people (if not more) than what we'd be pleasing by doing that. We are still investigating if there's a solution that's within scope (ie, won't require us rewriting the whole system and causing all sorts of possible issues in the process).
Still no meaningful changes to allow for multiple car setups.

As the "host" in using -autods to use a random public dedicated server, I could not enter the setup screens in the pits (I forgot to see what happens if I try to create/edit a setup in the lobby garage).
During qualifying, I always seemed to be issued dry soft slicks if I "returned to garage" and then clicked "drive," even when the random weather had changed to rainy conditions. Maybe the new rain condition slot was not fully activated, so I was not being automatically given rain tyres?
I was unable to test anything in the warmup session, because I was changing some fish tank water. ;)
In the race, I did two test pit stops, to see what would happen...
While dry, ~lap 4, I pitted. The pit strategy board did not appear, so I could not change any options. No fuel was added, no tyres were changed, perhaps any damage was fixed.
After it had been raining for ~1 lap (so ~1min30secs), I pitted at the end of lap 9. Again no board to choose any options, but rain tyres were fitted to the car.
Looks promising, but might need more study on when our pit crew decide to change tyre compounds in wet/dry changeable conditions. :)

I don't know how many people this is going to upset. But I was thinking if you took the old Audi LMP1 out for owners of the new Audi LMP1 DLC, and added its contracts to the E-Tron. That'd open it up some.
And if you took the GT3 cars out and just ran the BMW GT2 and Aston GTE cars (and whichever GT2/GTE cars that may come) that'll open those slots, at least enough to also add the Toyota LMP1.
You honestly could also nerf GT4 and run them either in a GT4 endurance series (with a GT3 endurance series ect) or whatever and replace them with the RUF GT3 with a slight restriction for a GTC class.
At least in this way you have all the most recent LM competitors in the Endurance series and able to compete at actually LM24 for career players.
But it's a lot of work, and no doubt whatever solution comes it won't make everyone happy. I don't however think that if you take out the old Audi and replace its contracts with the new Audi it'll upset as much as it'll make happy, in the least.
The GT field is problematic, but if there wasn't GT4 or a single make fourth class it'd allow more wiggle room, also if just the GT2/GTE cars could compete in it. I'm (reasonably) certain the Aston won't be the only GTE car coming via DLC.
The Lola really doesn't need to be in Endurance (imo). It's balanced well for the shorter LMP1 races, but it can go farther and last longer in endurance races without penalty to speed.
And GT4 is a lapping nightmare.
I understand though. These are just some ideas. It's just really saddening. I hope the limitations will be sorted out for Pcars2 ^^;

Hopefully pCARS 2 will have the audio reworked, this is something that I've been requesting on pCARS and would love to have a closer sound to the real cars, there is nothing better than listening to that exhaust as revs are gonig up :) I just thing cars sound a bit all the same and too generated. Would love to have a lot of tuners and touring cars as well. I've been buying all DLCs to support the game devs all I can.

I can tell you from the WMD days that it is the opinion of the sound team that the exhaust sounds are not heard so much in the cabin, especially not over the engine/transmission. So this can be considered an "artistic" decision (the exhaust sounds exist in the game if you watch replay or drive with chase camera). And the decision was not unanimous. i remember even some SMS people also requesting what you are asking, but we give the artists room to work and express their views.

Man I can't wait for the Dip N Flip patch to hit Xbox1, it will take weeks I know, but this issue has been plaguing my league races since May as it seems to effect the BMW Z4 approximately every 18-20 laps. I started scraping the walls in my last two races and have not experienced it so I guess that work around will have to do until MS approves the patch once it's submitted that is. :yes: I'm so freaking happy though.. That has been my biggest gripe so far and its finally getting fixed! This game will be just about Perfect!!!! Way to go Guys!!!!!

Dont know if this has been reported but ... the in c/pit exposure in sunny conditions in the AM Vantage GTE is way too bright now , there's way too much glare from the road surface .
Tested at Barcalona with various cars and the AM V GTE is way off now .
I am sensitive to all the efforts that SMS do and I love pCars but...for me, this patch is a joke.

Seriously guys, the steering wheel isn't needed. The 'vital information' is available in the hud on several different views. I would suggest that this wasn't even requested to be put back in the forum, I haven't done a search, but when you put the static wheels back in the previous car in the development stage, no one was complaining either. This has to be one of the most stubborn decisions made by the devs regarding this issue. If the player selects steering wheel off, then please take it off! Many people have requested it but the devs still keep stubbornly sticking it back in, forcing the player to play the game how they think it should be played, not how the player wants it.
On the other hand, as I never like to just leave bad comments, the other fixes and additions in the patch look really great, and yes, even though I just complained about the devs above, I really do think we have one of the best and most conscientious developers ever. Five patches in five months is beyond supportive. Good work all of you!

Are you able to still run custom FFB settings for each car? Really curious about this. Would love to run in forced default setup rooms, but many of us still need our cars to have custom FFB as it is tied to how our global FFB settings are configured.

I would suggest that this wasn't even requested to be put back in the forum, I haven't done a search, but when you put the static wheels back in the previous car in the development stage, no one was complaining either. This has to be one of the most stubborn decisions made by the devs regarding this issue. If the player selects steering wheel off, then please take it off! Many people have requested it but the devs still keep stubbornly sticking it back in, forcing the player to play the game how they think it should be played, not how the player wants it.
On the other hand, this player would rather see a static wheel with info on it than some artificial HUD displaying all kinds of things floating in the air that you never see in real life. Hence, I'm happy with this decision.
Best would be to create an option for static wheel or really no wheel IMO, of course...

Are you able to still run custom FFB settings for each car? Really curious about this. Would love to run in forced default setup rooms, but many of us still need our cars to have custom FFB as it is tied to how our global FFB settings are configured.

While i agree that a lot of the bugs that needed fixing are being or have been addressed with the 5 patches so far, each time a patch is released there are many people pointing out, asking and complaining about some problems, bugs or indeed features that IMO have always been and still are just as or more important than some things that have already been addressed, i also understand some things are more difficult to find and more difficult to fix, having said that there are still some glaring problems that for whatever reason, which we are not being informed of that still cause the most grief.
My issue is whenever these things are mentioned there is never an answer as too if it is going to be possible to fix, for example, multiplayer host kick/ban options and the saving of multiple set ups, these two alone for me are the worst part about the game, but up to now after 5 patches and numerous questions about it we still don't know if it will ever change, or if there are people working on a solution what the possible solution will end up being.
Maybe if SMS posted a list of things that they feel or know they cannot fix or implement in PCars1 it might stop the hundreds of unanswered questions on the subject.

Cool thanks - I will play with it when 5.0 is released to ps4. If we can't still use our Spingle and SoP settings I will just avoid the rooms. Ideally the system could pick up the users FFB settings for the car (hopefully not to difficult as it is a different tab) and pass them through with the car tuning still forced to default.

Count me in as one that wants the static steering wheel there. I don't want tons of readouts on my HUD where it looks like Bloomberg TV or something when the New York Stock Exchange is open. Static wheel for me please.
I can tell you from the WMD days that it is the opinion of the sound team that the exhaust sounds are not heard so much in the cabin...

I don't know how many people this is going to upset. But I was thinking if you took the old Audi LMP1 out for owners of the new Audi LMP1 DLC, and added its contracts to the E-Tron. That'd open it up some.
And if you took the GT3 cars out and just ran the BMW GT2 and Aston GTE cars (and whichever GT2/GTE cars that may come) that'll open those slots, at least enough to also add the Toyota LMP1.
You honestly could also nerf GT4 and run them either in a GT4 endurance series (with a GT3 endurance series ect) or whatever and replace them with the RUF GT3 with a slight restriction for a GTC class.
At least in this way you have all the most recent LM competitors in the Endurance series and able to compete at actually LM24 for career players.
But it's a lot of work, and no doubt whatever solution comes it won't make everyone happy. I don't however think that if you take out the old Audi and replace its contracts with the new Audi it'll upset as much as it'll make happy, in the least.
The GT field is problematic, but if there wasn't GT4 or a single make fourth class it'd allow more wiggle room, also if just the GT2/GTE cars could compete in it. I'm (reasonably) certain the Aston won't be the only GTE car coming via DLC.
The Lola really doesn't need to be in Endurance (imo). It's balanced well for the shorter LMP1 races, but it can go farther and last longer in endurance races without penalty to speed.
And GT4 is a lapping nightmare.
I understand though. These are just some ideas. It's just really saddening. I hope the limitations will be sorted out for Pcars2 ^^;

Thats why you give us the options to decide what we want and dont want.

Remove wheel with static wheel on cars with motec on wheel
Completely remove wheel on all vehicles (with hud elememts in place, and even hud elements can be disabled). They're not needed if the player is using a wheel and has a app for his motec display.
That would satisfy everyone.
Online lobbies? Still no upgrade? Why? It makes no sense? EXTREMELY LAME!

Can you please add an integrated Telemetry program/menu and logger so we can tune the cars more accurately? Its hard to monitor the current telemetry while racing thus making it hard to pinpoint what to tune.

I figured you were going to complain about the time "since" Ian's post was made. However, your statement was that over 5 patches, there had been no updates for multiple setups. That was incorrect so I corrected that (i.e. Ian's post has been made in the middle of these 5 patches). Yes, there has been mentioned from Ian over the 5 patches that it is something they are going to implement. No, SMS are not giving weekly updates on what they are or aren't working on. This is no longer WMD, so you have to wait and see.
Some idea on when would be nice so we are not dissapointed and frustrated like the last 5 times we have been reading through patch notes.
I have high doubts that this will change regardless of what happens.
SMS probably don't know when. If they knew when, they'd tell you when.
So the rational abstraction is to assume they either don't know, or simply don't want to tell you.
Probably because both of these reasons are going to make you even *more* upset is why they do neither.

All the engine sounds in this game are extensively recorded from hours of real cars in all cases for a start.
It also depends on what equipment you are listening to them as well.

In the world of Business sometimes its enough just to give people some information, an official comment, or mention on a to do list or something. If its good enough for the likes of AMD and Nvidia, then I am sure the "project" could handle it. Having said all that running list of bug fixes and project completion is not possible or viable. On a positive note, (yes, really, from me!) I hooked up my old Track IR 5 last night, and it works great. Well done to everyone who made that possible.

They do it get it right most of the time, the recent Lola-Aston Martin P1 sounds awesome, just like the real thing. (Which I experienced at Silverstone and Le Mans a couple of times)

It looks as if it also messes up "random" weather.
I created a forced default setups server on a public dedicated server, with 4 slots of "random" at x15 weather progression, with 15mins qual; 5mins warmup; 7 lap race.
I think the weather pattern repeated itself in the race, from the sequence we had in qual and warmup.
Yes, it could randomly happen to be the same, but the odds are pretty small! ;)

I expect it won't be more than a few more days, but I don't know. I'm pretty sure they try to line them up so everyone gets their patch on their platform at around the same time, though.

During the above Formula A @ Spa race, I had a minor incident on lap1 heading up Kemmel Straight, leaving me ~7secs behind the race leader.
I gradually pegged away at their lead, knocking it down to ~6secs, but by lap 6 my soft slick tyres were very worn.
So I decided to pit, in the hope that my pit crew would replace the ~80% worn tyres, so I could try "the undercut" by having faster race pace on fresh slicks.
But I pitted and my crew did not change the tyres. :(
I kept quiet about what happened to me and completed the race (on bald tyres for the 10th and 11th lap), but others had the same happen to them and were vocal (and quit).
I know from previous testing in patch 5.0, the pit crew will change tyres in changing wet/dry conditions (albeit they seem to be picky about when they will change from dry slicks to rain tyres or vice versa), but it seems their logic about when to change could do with improving.

I too have experienced the weather/time resetting over the course of a race weekend since Patch 5.0. How exactly is the race weekend time-frame simulated? I usually have P1, P2, Qualy and warm-up. If the race is set to start at 1pm for example, when do these other sessions take place?

Well before patch 5.0, if you put "race start" as 1300, your P1 would have started at 1300 and the time of all the other sessions would depend upon the length of each session and any time progression multiplier.
In patch 5.0, every single session (P1; p2; Quali; Warmup; race) will start at 1300 and the weather sequence (in a multi-slot setup) appears to restart as well. :(

How it works currently is that during the pitstop, it switches to cockpit. However, it should switch back to helmet when you are released. Is this not happening for you?

you can add -vrfullscreen but the vr mirror don't work right now... you will get always a black screen.

When using the rift, the menus are not shown in the mirror display (computer monitor) is there a way to enable this?
How can I access second or third tab in menus (eg. wheater conditions for a race)...

Whooooaaa.. doesn't sound like they got all the bugs out yet.. No need to release broken patches.
Have to change all the weather & time progressions for our league now, because of the new bug introduced with 5.0.
Does anyone know for sure if random weather resets with every session change, no matter what weather progression is set to?
I know that time progression does, but haven't tested weather yet.

I am writing this because I can see there are some notes on the new Aston DLC vehicle included in the coming PC patch 5.0 pre-release notes, which i guess consoles version patch will be released not for long, I just want to report this to you that until now Hong Kong PSN region (Hong Kong PS4 users) still hasn't got the Mojave track + Free Car + New Aston Martin DLC yet, we are fans of your masterpiece and we are willing to pay for any kind of DLC including all livery packages which incurred costs, but seems Hong Kong people now were being forgotten, can you please look into this? Or should we ask Bandai Namco instead? Can you give us some hints on who we should contact if so...?
NAMCO explained the situation - Briefly, DLCs are typically released in Asia the day after Europe due to time differences. The delay with this DLC was as a result of the 'perfect storm' of circumstances but primarily involving a lot of Japanese Holidays over September. The timeline is for this DLC to roll out on the 13th October (tomorrow). NAMCO have assured us that this was a once-off issue and won't happen again.
Sorry about your pain with this, and please confirm back on the DLC release.
It looks as if it also messes up "random" weather.
I created a forced default setups server on a public dedicated server, with 4 slots of "random" at x15 weather progression, with 15mins qual; 5mins warmup; 7 lap race.
I think the weather pattern repeated itself in the race, from the sequence we had in qual and warmup.
Yes, it could randomly happen to be the same, but the odds are pretty small! ;)
I tested this with Random, and yes, it seems to reset every session, but I did not get the same weather when it restarted because it was random.
Am still testing, it's a little time consuming.
Why does every patch seem to be one step forward and one step back? It doesn't seem like weather was even touched in this patch, but yet it was broken after.

I can tell you from the WMD days that it is the opinion of the sound team that the exhaust sounds are not heard so much in the cabin, especially not over the engine/transmission. So this can be considered an "artistic" decision (the exhaust sounds exist in the game if you watch replay or drive with chase camera). And the decision was not unanimous. i remember even some SMS people also requesting what you are asking, but we give the artists room to work and express their views.
My only issue with this is outside camera viewpoints - the player's car is loud but I can hardly hear the AI (unless its a Z4 GT3 in which case its 'medium' volume) - I seem to recall GTR2 had separate player and AI volume controls - would this be relatively easy to replicate for pCARS? I do realise its very difficult to balance when some cars are much louder IRL than others, and is likely to sit very far down the list of issues.
They do it get it right most of the time, the recent Lola-Aston Martin P1 sounds awesome, just like the real thing. (Which I experienced at Silverstone and Le Mans a couple of times)
I find it sounds like the original 2008 version of the car (externally at least), which was like a higher-revving DBR9. Not a bad thing at all, but noticeably different.
Anyway I realise those two points are off topic, so just wanted to say thank you for all the hard work going into these patches. PCARS has come a very long way in 4-5 months.
The new time/weather progression bug is no joke.
The bug is, time & weather progression does not progress from session to session, and restarts from the beginning at the beginning of each session.
Wait until all the leagues that use weather or time progression start running their races this week, and haven't read these posts yet.
There are many issues with the game, but at least the leagues have worked through most of them, and therefore love this game still and have a reason to keep playing.
But this new bug messes with league races with any weather scenarios & time scenarios set , and if we have to put the league on hold, I think we'll lose many drivers.
I hope there will be a hot fix for this soon, and not make us wait 3-4 weeks for 6.0.

If you use random fixed, the timing is all off since you can't use time syncs any more by adding or subtracting from different sessions. And forget more slots other than fixed, because it resets each session. And there is no 3x or 4x progression, so it becomes even harder to set a good scenario.
If you use more than one slot and have prepared scenarios in your leagues, that's completely out the window now too.
We are all stuck with fixed weather now, and that is a "biggy" for leagues.
You get the same "1 hour programmed fix slot" over and over again.
We do not want fixed weather, and you can no longer program the weather with weather progression. And random is not the answer without using progression properly.
Kind of stuck now using random with 5x weather progression for the league now. Agree, this is one of the things most complained about in our league, along with saving car set ups.
We post screenshots and replays of all our races in our forums, and they are never the right skins, not to mention half the field is stuck on the line. Names, yeh, that would be great too.

I have DK2 with SDK 0.7, Win 10 plus an extra monitor. whereas the rift works perfectly. the monitor turns black and larger than the screen even setting it goes to full screen window mode and 1920x1080. I read in the update patch 5.0 that was "-vrfullscreen Added command line option to use when using second screen, to use the entire screen instead of windowed mode"

Has anyone noticed the crazy numbers the transmissions have after the update. The speeds are still correct, but sometimes they will read with a 8.xx 1st gear and 4.xx 6th which is just crazy.

Had that already in Patch 4.0 - but for me it happend only twice since Patch 4.0

Dont know if this has been reported but ... the in c/pit exposure in sunny conditions in the AM Vantage GTE is way too bright now , there's way too much glare from the road surface .
Tested at Barcalona with various cars and the AM V GTE is way off now .
Agree. I also noticed this at Barcelona, I don't know if it was doing the same at other circuits.

On the Nordschleife at least it was fine for me. Although, I find most cars too dark in sunny conditions and the GTE hits the sweet spot for me.

i dont see the issue I guess cause we dont use random weather we use one slot one weather for the whole race. Time progression is the thing we use the most so track temp and time of day is what we tune and race by.
I don't know if it happens on other platforms, but can the Xbox users PLEASE get a fix for the setup saving bug? This is a sim and we can't even save setups.

Yeh, I'm not counting on it, but I have until Friday, at which point I will be cancelling one of our leagues seasons.

It's being looked into. As soon as a fix has been found, it will be included in the next patch.

To help this, releasing a patch 1-2 weeks earlier on PC could catch all these smaller digressive bugs, and other concerns, allowing for a small window to fix "straight forward" issues so the console patches can be that much more solid.
Or a beta branch could be opened up to more users so issues can be caught prior to release. I'm actually a bit surprised this isn't happening now, especially considering the WMD setup during dev.

I think that's a great idea, but unfortunately I think it's too late. The game has been out for 5 months now, and every patch has been useless or a disaster. I don't think many even care anymore and have given up.
This game/sim even with all it's flaws, was heads & tails better than it's competitors. We all thought, it will only get better as patches & improvements come out, so we'll deal with the flaws for now. That's not the sentiment in our League any more. It's almost at the point where we don't want any more patches, because something else detrimental gets broken, and they aren't fixing what truly needs fixing any way.

Thought I found a work around to the weather bug, by using sync to race, which I never tried before.
But, instead I found another bug or broken feature.
If you set sync to race using all 4 slots set to random, the race will be "current weather random" & "forecast random", instead of it picking a particular weather scenario. And unfortunately random is always clear weather.
If you set the first slot to storm, the 2nd slot to random, the 3rd slot to fog, and the 4th slot to random you get...... current weather storm, forecast random........then current weather random, forecast fog...... then current weather fog, forecast random...... and last current weather random.
All randoms in that scenario, are clear. Online & single player with the sync option.
So the sync to race works, but random isn't activated and always simulates clear and labels it as random.
Back to the drawing board, tho out of ideas. Seems anything with random is fubar.
All I wanted to do, is generate a 45 minute race, to change weather 3-4 times, randomly. (without it being duplicated in practice, qualify, and warm up)(that defeats the purpose if you know the order from session to session)
Seems simple enough, and was possible before patch 5.0.

Why bother having all these graphical elements at all when we could just launch Project CARS from command-line with setup flags? If you are using any sort of GUI you have no grounds to call anyone lazy for wanting a more convenient interface for dealing with setups.
